Mongo's has a special place in my brain, is open 7 days a week, & I have to go there at least a few times a month. I always go for one of the ever changing homemade syrups in some formation of a hot espresso drink. There is something about their tuna salad with carrots & peas that is addictive. The bread they use for their toast??? AMAZING. Not to be overlooked, the pastry case. Their chocolate croissant, is unlike any other I have had. Service is lovely. Staff is patient, kind, accommodating. Plenty of tables, couple of couches, lots of people doing work on their laptops. Writing this review as i sit here enamored with my husband! As a pro-small business person, I was stoked to find such a hidden gem that's so poppin. The atmosphere is awesome, it makes me want to work remotely in here LOL. The staff are so kind and really busy. Fast and efficient place to grab coffee and food. The service was okay, nothing over the top. The person taking our order couldn't answer questions regarding their baked goods because the baker left. Really wanted to like this spot, but overall everything was a little disappointing. The first coffee I got had some kind of flavor added, but I could barely taste it -- it mostly just tasted like milky coffee. The next time I tried a mocha, and again, the chocolate flavor was barely there. I also didn't enjoy the brie and jam toast at all. The jam was way too overpowering, the bread was overly toasted, and the side salad felt unfinished -- it was basically just arugula with a few pickled onions on top, which didn't really go well together. I've also tried their brownie and chocolate chip cookie, and both were a letdown. The brownie was dry and flavorless, and the cookie was just okay. It was made with milk chocolate, but I personally think it would've been much better with dark chocolate, maybe some flaky salt or browned butter for more depth of flavor. For a homemade cookie, I expected something that tasted more special and less like it came from a box mix. Because of the food, I probably won't go back, though I will say the décor is really nice and whimsical. read more

Just stopped by to grab a latte and got a chocolate chip cookie, and both were amazing. The mocha latte is a bit on the bitter end but you can ask to add simple syrup and that will make it sweeter. The barista, Connor, was very nice and Sarah was also very sweet. The overall ambiance of the coffee shop is very nice too--there's tons of seating and so many people were doing work and hanging out. There's not much signage leading to the entrance so if i hadn't been with someone who's been here before i would have missed it. there's a good amount of seating inside with a mix of couches, tables, and bench seating. Greeted with a smile at the counter, they took my to-stay order & directed me to where the fresh beans were to purchase. Love that they give you a number for your table so that you don't have to stand & wait. They made two trips to me, bringing my drink when ready (A+) and then the food. Plenty of comfortable seating, although it might be difficult on the weekend as they seem to do a constant business. Ordered an iced Pistachio Latte with an extra shot, served just right (no over-the-top-sweetness that you get in other shops) with pistachios on top. Enjoyed this place on a prior visit but today the service was subpar and off. Came on a weekday and service was slow. Waited a while to get our lattes and when I drank mine it was not even hot. To top it off the lady who took our order was confused as to how many lattes we ordered and took one off and then thought she added the correct one back. We ordered 4 lattes but she only placed the order for 3 lattes. We had to wait again for the person to locate the person who took our order to confirm how many we ordered. Then she wanted to add the final latte since she made a mistake so we said no and left. We weren't willing to wait again for the last latte when the first three took a while. Will not be returning since we drove 45 minutes to get there for a special birthday treat. We also purchased two cookies which were just alright. Great hidden but not so hidden gem off of Jericho Tpke. Lots of fresh baked goods that are baked on premise as well as a nice selection of soups, sandwiches and cold salads ( tuna, chicken). Theres lots of space filled with both cozy seating as well as tables to eat or work. Staff is friendly and the baristas do a great job with the drinks. Off the beaten path, one will find this industrial chic coffee shop. My boo and I came here for some coffee and a bite and the food/drink was okay but more the ambiance and sounds when inside were cool. The bathroom was nice and roomy. Leading up to it was some paraphernalia to promote. The front counter was cool but I think maybe a little too close to the glass wall of the vestibule. There's some large couch seating to the left and to the right there are ample small tables and chairs (some high tops and some low) and I opted for the seat by the window. I got a lot of sun and warmth, but it felt nice in the air conditioned space. This is an industrial area, so guess what?! You can actually see the coffee roasting process all the way to the right of the space. It's pretty cool. The sounds it makes are ASMR-ic and I loved how calm it made me feel. I ordered a latte with almond milk and cinnamon powder. It was pretty good. My boo got something similar to a DD iced coffee with caramel in it. He said DD was better than that. We shared an avocado toast with an egg on the side (he doesn't like them runny) and an oatmeal raisin chocolate cookie. It would have tasted better without the chocolate chunks in my opinion. I was hoping that they would have the orange creamsicle cookie, but they were out that day. Maybe next time! The avocado toast was massive in that it looked like for each halve they used one whole avocado's worth on it. It also had a hint of lemon and some pepper on top. It wasn't amazing and it was too much avocado to bread ratio. The side salad that came with it was a few leaves of arugula (not even a handful) and two sliced mini plum tomatoes. If they did a quarter as much avocado on top of a bed of arugula with the lemon and pepper on top it would so much more amazing. Happy eats! read more

I went to Mongo's on a rainy Saturday morning and there was already a line. They have a printed menu once you get up to the counter to place your order but you gotta be quick due to the line. I ordered a Caffe Latte and purchased their Fancy Decaf and Harper's Blend coffee. I asked the cashier if she could grind the beans for me as I have a Keurig at home and was gifting the Harper's Blend to family. She went over to the baking section/kitchen and started grinding the beans for me. I appreciated how she repacked everything so neatly so the bags were still presentable. Overall, it's a change of pace from your typical Starbucks and something new in the neighborhood to try. I wouldn't go out of my way as seating is a hit or miss. I do wish their stools had some sort of cushion to make them more comfortable. read more

Those who know me already know how much I love coffee and they've got a great selection to choose from. You can also buy fresh roasted coffee beans from them. They've got coffee, tea, sandwiches, and treats. I haven't tried their food because I was there for the delicious coffee. The times I've gone to Mongo's, it's been pretty busy but the noise level isn't loud. I saw a lot of student's studying while they ate and enjoyed their drinks. There's plenty of seating available. They have a shared parking lot but it isn't hard to find parking. Just be careful when you're pulling out of your spot! We had spent the day at Jones Beach and I desperately needed a coffee. A friend that lives in the area suggested Mongo's and we made it just before they closed at 4pm. The staff here are SO nice. And the barista that took our order tried so hard to make sure that my "splash" of half and half was the right amount. As someone who always ordered a splash and sometimes gets essentially half a cup of half and half in her coffee, this was so, so appreciated. I loved that he took the time to doublecheck with me. I really enjoyed my coffee. It tasted great and really hit the spot. Would 10/10 come back the next time I'm in the area visiting friends. read more
