5 shining stars for the GF olive oil tripple berry cake. I have to admit I am an instant fan of the bakery here. The best indisputable GF olive oil triple berry cake is so heavenly! The sweetness is like 2/10! I was sold at the very first bite of it. Its semi crispiness of triple berry top layer harmonizes with a slightly coarse yellow flour layer perfectly. Love love love. For $5, I will so go back for this. The carrot, zucchini, coconut, raisin and walnut muffin is another miracle ($4). The combination guarantees you a knockout. Nutty, sweet (4 out of 10 in sweetness), moist and crispy all in one. Layers of flavors. The only thing I would like to suggest is to label nutrition info such as calorie etc. Great service as well. read more

Love the cozy ambiance inside and outdoor seating area where many people relax with kids and pets. The staff is friendly and gives great recommendations for the menu. All the coffee drinks were well made and the sandwiches were delicious. Highly recommend their famous sandwich! The house is also shared with a wine bar so check the door sign when you enter. Their own parking space is very limited in the back, you're more likely to find parking on the street The only opportunity is the wait time - not sure if they were short staffed on that particular day, but only 2 people working to take orders, make the drinks, and to bring out the food. read more

What a gem of a coffee shop! I am always looking for places to study and this checks most of the boxes I look for: Good wifi: - Noticed some reviews talking about wifi issues but so far I've had no problems studying here a few times. Comfortable seating: - Cozy vibes. I would say the seating is pretty comfortable especially if you plan on sitting there a while to do work. Also, square/rectangle tables are a plus for me lol (as opposed to those tiny round tables that some cafes have). The outdoor seating area also looks really comfy! Bathroom: - 2 clean bathrooms. One has a changing table. Good coffee: - Great selection of coffees. Only downside for me is they don't have hazelnut flavor (hazelnut lover here) Food: - Definitely a plus that they have food. I like the pesto grilled cheese. Would love to see more lunch options. Outlets: - A couple outlets are available (I've noticed two not sure if there are more). That being said, come with your devices charged unless you can score the table next to the outlet! read more

I love the decor here! This place is so cozy and charming. It easily comes across as one of my favorite coffee shops in Glen Cove, as it's consistently my little escape while I'm in the area. The shop is located right next to the 'Other Side' wine bar, on the corner of Butler Street. They didn't have the blueberry matcha at the time and I didn't want to try their mango matcha so took plain iced matcha and a hot lavender latte along with the cappuccinos. The staff greeted with a smile and friendliness. Service was quick, the interior spacious, and rustic / vintage ambiance made it cozy on this rainy, cold day. Prices are within standard, smooth coffee, flavors weren't overly sweetened. Matcha and lavender can be tough to not overdo with the flavor, especially if the drink is pre-flavored. All in all, the drinks were great and the Morning Glory muffin was delish! Looking forward to going back soon. read more

There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating which makes this a great place to grab coffee and meet up with friends or get some work done. I ordered an Iced Lavender Latte but it tasted predominantly like milk with a veryyyy subtle lavender flavor. Would not recommend unless you're into that. I also ordered Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte which was better. The matcha taste was a bit diluted but sweetness level was perfect for me. Other times I've been, I've ordered the avocado pesto grilled cheese sandwich. IT'S AMAZING but more on the expensive side. If you've ever been to Southdown Coffee in Glen Cove, you may have noticed the OTHER SIDE of the venue is now a wine bar. This review is for both the coffee side AND the new restaurant. Southdown Coffee provides a consistent flavor at all of their venues, but I love how each venue has its own personality--my favorites are Glen Cove (obviously), Oyster Bay, and Patchogue (WAY different than the others--it's more modern and entrenched in a commuter apartment complex. Staff is always friendly and patient, they take extra special care with each preparation and I have never had an order done incorrectly. Their Glen Cove location has a cozy feel to it, with a fire blazing during the colder months, and plenty of space to sit with friends or work remotely. You'll also notice that the middle room of this location is flanked by the coffee place and on the other side by a wine bar, hence the name Otherside Wine Bar. Recently we had a chance to spend an evening dining with them at the former JH Homestead, and we were not disappointed. Their menu highlights fresh farm-sourced ingredients and their wines are all natural and local. We enjoyed the Luli and the Roagna. GLOWS: Everything else is a glow! I love the decor. The personnel are all fabulous--couldn't have been nicer or more accommodating. The food was top-notch, and the creativity of the kitchen is something I want to return for. The cheese platter included three kinds of cheese, including whipped ricotta, and four large pieces of fresh toasted sourdough. It was a meal unto itself! The burger platter was huge! A well-dressed burger accompanied by fries. The slow-roasted carrots came with whipped ricotta and Calabrian chili honey butter. The grilled shrimp alijillo was monstrous and absolutely delicious! I ordered an affogato (my fave dessert), and they also sent us their pana cotta. Whoa! This is definitely a place to try and it is one that will be in my rotation, whether I am looking for a full meal or just some snacks, wine, and conversation with the friendly and knowledgeable staff. There is a parking lot located in the back, or you can easily find on-street parking in the area. WOW. I've been to Southdown Coffees other locations but today was my first time ever stepping foot into their Glen Cove store. It is absolutely remarkable in every way. Beautiful outdoor seating, gorgeous and comfortable indoor seating and tons of art adorning the walls. I ordered a blueberry muffin, a cold latte and also an egg sandwich on an english muffin. Friendly staff and good environment to get work done. Unfortunately they fall extremely short when it's busy. I believe it must be a short staffing issue. I witnessed others as well as myself wait for 40 minutes for food that shouldn't take so long. The lady I saw waited 30 minutes and wanted to cancel her order and honestly so did I. I watched people who ordered after me get their food. I ordered an avacado toast. Do not bother ordering food if you don't have 40 minutes to wait and it's busy. They are apologetic that they misplaced the ticket but I asked 3 times to check on it. To wait 40 minutes for an Avacado toast is ridiculous and I cannot never risk having that experience again. Finally tried the Glen Cove location & it's my fav!!!! Plenty of room plus cute outside seating as well. Of course as expected the drinks & food are fantastic! Same for the staff, very friendly & welcoming, actually the staff here were the friendliest I've met so far and they were super busy! The baristas are kind and friendly, the baked goods are phenomenal (please try their dark chocolate sea salt cookie and the cinnamon cardamom knot), and the coffee is exceptional. I can't rave about this place enough. The folks here are super fast, kind, and obviously care about their shop. I was lucky to have their strawberry rhubarb bar (it's seasonal). Not super sweet but sweet enough to help kickstart your morning with a great cup of coffee. Speaking of coffee, I always get their lavender latte, and my husband always gets their decaf. He said they have one of the best decaf beans he's ever had. Stopped here for evening coffee with my sister. I got the drip coffee and a banana muffin. The coffee is great and the banana muffin is light and sweet. It's of a bit of rubbery texture but is is edible. The ambience is relaxing. Music choice is ok. Upon entering the shop, it's cozy and very pleasing to the eyes. They have a little fireplace that's just right on rainy cold days. It's a little pricey but not ridiculous. Do recommend this place for a little coffee place. read more

It's great to have a small coffee shop in Glen Cove where you can sit down to work or chat. Southdown is great at supplying such an atmosphere. Keep in mind that there are only like 3 or 4 tables inside, but a plethora of seating options available outside. This is awesome in warm weather, but a little tough in the colder, rainier times. That's really the only downside to stopping by here. Everything else is awesome! The food and drinks are good, the staff is pleasant, there's just an overall good vibe. I love this place! It's super cozy, has plenty of seating, and most importantly, it has all the goods I need to sit down with a friend or come and get work done. They have both sitting/lounge seating and a few tables for working. They serve coffee (of course) amongst other typical coffee-house drinks. I usually get espresso drinks, and it tasted really good - not too bitter, just the right amount of sweet, although they are customizable. I've been to this Glen Cove branch as well as the one in Oyster Bay, and I have to say that I much prefer the setup and drinks here a lot more. I like that this location has a decent amount of indoor and outdoor seating available. They also have wifi, which is perfect if you need to study or get some work done. I've tried a couple of their sandwiches but have yet to try their sweet offerings. I've heard their cinnamon buns are amazing but didn't see any in store today.
