I ordered pizza and beefs for him for Father's Day and not only was it all delicious I have heard, the staff at Rosati's included a Father's Day card for him that really was above and beyond. However I felt the need to this time so I called and let the cashier know. I did not get her name sadly. But as soon as I explained the situation she was immediately RUDE and told me I ordered jumbo. When I don't eat wings with bones and personally had no idea what a jumbo was until today. And proceeded to tell me there's nothing she is going to do or can do and even if her boss was there still wouldn't help me either. The service was definitely a 0/10 and no cashier should handle a situation the way she did.

When we wouldn't sit at the bar, even though the main area was only 1/4 occupied They moved our party of 2 into the side room with chairs up on tables. It went downhill from there. Due to this, it wasn't possible to really enjoy what should have been a fine meal. I will say it is a wise policy to ask for payment and tip ahead of this type of service before it is provided.

Monical's Pizza is great for the Central Illinois area - some of the most realistic pizza around. The flavors are all superb as is the crispy thin crust. It reminds me of the old "Joe's Pizza" (60's and 70's) that used to be located on Commercial Ave at 27th street, in Mattoon, in the old house on the north side of that intersection, which was some of the best pizza anywhere. It had anise, or fennel, seasoning that gave it a bit of a licorice flavor combined with the flavors similar to Monical's Pizza, but with a bit thicker, stringier cheese. No... Monicle's Pizza doesn't compare to the deep dish pizza of Chicago (a la Pizzaria Uno, or Lou Malnati's), but it is great for crispy, thin crust pizza. Though, I would say the Monical's Pizza location in Shelbyville, IL has the best of Monical's Pizza in the area, including Champaign. They just do it better than the rest, and the service is superior also. All I would add is some anise or fennel seasoning (prolly in an extract form) - and it would be about as good as Joe's Pizza from years past. read more
