Very clean indoor play space for kids. We came at 11am and had the place to ourselves. It had been cleaned that morning and still smelled like lemon industrial cleaner. Lots of obstacles and slides. Great pricing! Best deal in town. Only downside is the bathrooms are a little hard to get to, especially if you're in the play structure, so might not be a great activity for newly potty independent kids. There are TVs. With sports on for the parents. Only one way in or out, so you can relax knowing your kid is still in there and hasn't left lol but this also means you will be trying to find your way through the maze if your kid needs help. The slides dead end into an area where the only way out is upward climbing, which is not possible for kids under 3/4 so they get trapped. Small, dedicated area for littler kids too, I'd say under 2. I took my son here today and it's not the company nor the employees that are the issue . ITS THE PARENTS WHO DONT WATCH THEIR GODDAM KIDS & teach them how to play respectfully. One of the kids who was at least 6yrs elbowed my 2yr old in the face and the irresponsible mother didn't apologize or take responsibility. Just sat her fatass on the damn couch . As a mom to a kiddo that has only two speeds (sleeping and running), this place was absolutely perfect. It's in a strip mall that is pretty massive and you can hear the sounds of the fun range in the distance but don't fret, the kid thunderdome is worth it. Not only do they service alcoholic beverages for the tired parent but they have an assortment of food that'll please any picky eater. The service was great and it was moderately clean, considering how messy small humans can be. It's kind of a steep price but no time limit. I usually love this place...kids can run and I chill...but the short skinny young girl (sorry I don't know her name) behind the counter today was so rude I was literally shocked! We all get frustrated and I know I'm not perfect for real, but I wasn't even talking to her or about her but I guess she thought I was and she went out of her way to make snide comments over her co workers shoulder and in front of my daughter. Great place. So fun for the kids and a great spot to hang out to burn off energy. A little pricey if you have several young kiddos but is great for a wide variety of ages. Younger kids will likely need an adult to follow them as the toddler area is not separate. read more

No re-entry and the cost is the reason for my 3-stars. I've been to 4 other local play houses and all have had re-entry for the day of purchase. Also, the pricing seemed a bit high and not tailored by age (which most places do). Sunburst Cafe in Troutdale and Whippersnappers in Sandy both clean, have re-entry, and reasonable pricing based on age groups. A general $10+ admission for a 1 year old who likely wouldn't pay long is not a good structure. This place was not very busy which was nice with littles but I can see why...pricing and no re-entry doesn't make it worth it. We like this place, they have good food, the play area is clean, my kids age 6 and 1 like it a lot. We bought a 10 day pass and the one thing I will say that is frustrating is making a reservation 24 hours in advance. Sometimes we want to go last minute but can't because we have to make a reservation a day before. And if u go on late at night it won't let u make a reservation for the next day. Not sure exactly how long they have been here but we just caught wind of their arrival. The place was very clean and everything seemed new. Prices in my opinion were average contrary to the outrage in other reviews. Ten dollars per kid for entry seems pretty fare to me especially when I'm sure some parents literally spend the whole day here. They have to make money somehow- especially if you eat beforehand like we had. The neat part about this place is that it is connected to a Kung Fu class! As part of their birthday packs you can get a 1 hour lesson of Kung Fu for your party of up to 16 kids. How cool is that? Definitely considering this place for my kid's 3rd birthday. On Sunday kids were asked to leave the playground on 4:40 and personnel started to clean up before closing. We checked in at 3:30, were charged for 2-hours standard period and were not warned about the early closing time (the website claimed Sunday hours are till 7PM). Another frustrating thing is that they do not allow to enter with your own still water. They suggest to empty your bottle before entering. This does not support healthy habits for kids at all! I made a party reservation 3 weeks in advance. I booked and paid in full as required at booking. I got a call the DAY OF my party, 5 hours prior, cancelling my reservation! Despite getting several confirmations via text and email of my reservation. I was told they were closed and didn't know why it let me make the reservation. No notice prior whatsoever. I have everything planned. People coming. It's the day of! Im just wondering how you don't notice the reservation prior if you're a business? How do you let this happen? No concern on their part. My co-nanny and I came here with a 6 year old, a 19 month old, and a 10 month old with the hope that there would be something for all three kids. We arrived shortly after opening, but because it was a "holiday" (Veteran's day) we were charged $23 for all three kids. Pricey, but fine. We figured we'd spend the morning here, eat lunch, and then go. The owner(?) is a little neurotic and overbearing, but was friendly enough. He made sure all the kids had stamps, socks on, and shoes off. He also refused to let the kids enter until we had filled out the waiver, then proceeded to tell us the highlights of the waiver that I had literally just read/signed. Also you have the fill out the waiver on your own device. The play space is huge, varied, and accessible for able-bodied parents and kids. It's not very accessible for people/kids that need physical supports. There is no outside food allowed, which is a common "rule" at places like this. However, when we arrived the owner told us that formula/milk and snacks for the babies are fine. I ordered a mocha, which took about 15 minutes to make, and it was cold. At that time, there was no orders in front of mine, and just a couple other patrons at the tables. My co-nanny ordered a chai which was so hot, it scalded her mouth. They offer no milk alternatives. After letting the kids play for a while, the younger two were ready for snacks. We brought them out to eat and let the older kiddo continue to play. When we were almost done with snack, the owner came up to us and said that he noticed we had a lot of snacks and reminded us of the outside food policy, which directly conflicted with the information he gave us upon our arrival. My 10 month old is not ready for a meal or snack of greasy pizza and breakfast bagels. -_- I had to leave for about 40 minutes with the 10 month old to take her to a doctor appointment while my co-nanny and the other two kids stayed there. When I returned back, the owner pointed out a small, "no re-admittance" sign. This is absolutely ridiculous. I explained that we had gone to the doctor and he was firm with his stance. Any comparable play place (Playdate PDX, Wiggle Room, etc.) allows for readmission. The food is mediocre at best. The breakfast sandwich consisted of a cold, untoasted bagel, an overcooked egg, and a small cup of cream cheese which had to be smeared on. The side was fruit salad, which was underripe watermelon, overripe apples, 3 grapes, and some tomatoes. Yes, tomatoes. Overall, our bill was $58 We will not be returning to Monkey King, which is disappointing because the space itself is really great, and it's in a very convenient location for us. read more

We were here for a friend's birthday, kids got a quick Kung Fu lesson which was pretty entertaining with the kicks and flips. Didn't try any of the food, but pizza, and the usual stuff listed with an espresso bar for the parents. There are a few Chinese food items listed, pot stickers and noodles - which may explain the faint smell of an Asian Grocery Store. There is limited seating up front, so I can see it being crowded when busy. Oh and no re-admission if you go out... and not much security in terms of kids wandering off and out the door. They change their french fries. The new fries are thinner and they were way over cooked. Taste like chips. My kids didn't eat them and they love fries. I brought it up to the worker she said they are supposed to be like that because they got new fries. No, fries are not supposed to taste like chips. I think they got their cooking time wrong, probably still frying it the same time as the old fries that they had which was thicker. Owner please check your cook time with your workers and teach them because they are over cooking the fries. Or just bring back the old fries they taste so much better. Great, safe play place! There is a toddler area for the little ones and a huge play structure to explore for the bigger kids. We went on a Friday morning and it was nice and quiet. The "dad chairs" are great. Plush, leather chairs and a matching couch. Um, I'll take 2 of each! There is a private restroom with a changing table for the diaper-clad minions. Food-wise, they have a good menu selection (traipsing thru the play area will help you....I mean your kids....work up a big appetite). There is also a special going for a summer pass. As far as indoor play parks go, this one is clean, big & a blast for the kiddos. However, some improvements should be made out of consideration for the parents who bring their kiddos here. Parents, please make note before you go: 1- They have higher rates for non-school days ($12/kid). Not just weekends, but actual days off from school. I'm still trying to figure out who gets the regular rate ($10/kid). Maybe home school kids or non-school age children? Regardless, I felt insulted having come on a weekday only to be charged the higher weekend rate because it was winter break. Also, they don't rate your admission on age, but on the area of the play structure you're using. So anyone over a small toddler will get charged the higher rate. 2- They have a $10 min on credit cards. Which you'll probably meet with admission, but you need to tell them to keep your card open for later snack sales. The good news is the food is mostly reasonably priced, but I saw one mom end up leaving shortly after arriving because her kiddo was hungry and she didn't want to spend another $10 for snacks. 3- Most importantly -- the admission fee doesn't let you come & go like most of these indoor playgrounds! (Regardless that they stamp the child's hand,) That includes trips to your car! Yikes. HUGE downside. 4- Their complementary wi-fi is sloooooooooow. Slower than slow. Certainly not up for streaming or podcasts. Bring a book or your unlimited data. 5- Also, this is the most expensive indoor playground we've been to, yet they don't offer punch card or loyalty discounts. But -- they do have beer/wine. So there's that. As far as indoor play spots, you'll get more bang for your buck making the drive to WipperSnappers in Sandy or Dizzy Castle in Vancouver. There is a cheaper one in this same area, Sunburst in Troutdale, but their facility is much, much smaller than this one and they don't have alcohol. But all of those options are cheaper, allow re-admission for all-day play & have decent wi-fi & similar snack/coffee options. Monkey King is certainly well maintained & clean, with a sizable play area (parents can play inside, too) & is a great outlet for that youthful energy. Just be prepared when you go. read more

I think this indoor playground is not too bad. I see that it is older and not very well maintained, but at the same time I don't expect much when there are probably hundreds of children coming and going. My 3 year old son loved this place and I actually liked that it was not as big as playdate pdx. This way, he was able to play comfortably without freaking out that he would lose me. As a play place for a kid to climb & crawl around, it's not bad. Our daughter is in kindergarten and she's having fun. I'd say that the oldest age range that a kid will still have fun here is maybe 1st grade. Do not order the salads here. My husband got the chicken Caesar & I got the Cobb. While the lettuce was thankfully not rotten, that's the only good things about the salads. The chicken tasted like they cooked it 4 days ago and then sprinkled it on our salads. I come here with a friend pretty often. The staff is so nice and knows we are "regulars." I've been through the playground plenty of times and it's very save obviously for kids to play in. It's very big and spacious (makes me want to be a kid again!) . There's plenty of seating, if you're lucky then you'll get the comfortable couches. Otherwise there are tables and chairs Also. This place is a joke! We were super excited to have an indoor play place close to Gresham and after one visit I can tell you we won't be back. If you're familiar with Playdates PDX or Dizzy Castle you'll be hugely disappointed because not only is it much smaller, it's way more expensive. It's also very obvious that management has no clue how to run an indoor play area.....please please go take some lessons from your competitors! The prices are ridiculous, especially for toddlers up to age 4....most places give a price break for younger kids. But for up to age 4 is free if they stay in a special area and if they set foot in the larger area (which is literally connected to the "big" kid area) you have to pay full price. The entire play area is on the smaller size so looks like it's for a toddler anyway....It's so confusing.....there needs to just be flat rates for entry! Here are some tips for them.... 1. Do away with the different prices for different areas...just charge kids by age....under 3 or 4 has to be less! 2. You need to offer re-entry 3. better food prices and self serve soda....come on people, free refills is mandatory now a days! 4. I recently had my child birthday party here. If I had not already had guest coming and my child really wanting a party there, I would have walked out. DO NOT HAVE A PARTY HERE!!!!!! I believe they are just not a good host for a party. The reason I am saying this is because I from the beginning till the end of the party I had no host. I had to send my whole party to the front register with the rest of the public to sign waivers and get thier passes to play in their playhouse, I was overcharged on food that was "doughy" which made my a bunch of my party sick the very next day, I had to request silverware, plates and napkins and even bring it to my party from the front of the lobby. I even cleaned all the dirty dishes throughout the night so we wouldn't have a ton of dirty dishes in the party room. Im upset that I was charged so much for just a party room with nothing to come with it, no food, no help, and just a room. Plus addmission per child on a friday night is $8.00 after the initial 10 included in the party room. The additional child was $12.00.. what a rip off... I should have had the party at Johns Incredible Pizza, or Bullwinkles... would have been cheaper and alot more fun for the kids.. all of the kids did have fun though and that is the main thing. this place is a clean place to play but they do overcharge for everything. they even charge for adults that dont have kids.... towards the end of the night they were practially pushing us out the door telling me to pay my bill already. I was really excited about this place opening up since it's so close to my house and it is difficult to drive across Portland, or even up to Vancouver, to the other indoor play houses. We've been three times in the past two months and both times have just been okay. The good: The space seems very clean and both of my kids love the play space. Ultimately, my kids having fun is my top priority. The bad: The price is way too high for what it is. This indoor playhouse is a smaller version of Playdate PDX, Safari Sams, or Kids Club Fun & Fitness in Vancouver, yet it is priced the same or higher. The pricing is also confusing. The food is just awful. Honestly, they'd be better off just selling pre-packaged snack foods and a couple drinks. The seating area is small and uncomfortable. Overall, the place just seems unorganized. The last two times we went there were ZERO employees attending the children in the play structure. There was nobody making sure kids under age 4 weren't in the toddler room, which created an unsafe environment for my baby to play while I was in there with him. Older kids kept coming in and rough housing all around us until their parents asked them to play elsewhere. All in all, we may go back if we're in a pinch for an indoor play space, but I don't see this business surviving without lowering their prices and having a more organized environment. Oh, and the "Friday Fun Night" pricing is ridiculous. I keep seeing coupons for $15 and it lists $60 as the regular price. Um, I can pay a babysitter to watch my kids, take them to a DIFFERENT indoor playhouse, and feed them dinner for less than $60. I went to this place to have my daughters birthday party. First off they said I had a server but the server didn't greet us when we came in, or help us with anything. I had to go out the party room each time one of my guess showed up, to make sure they signed a waiver before they could enter the party room. Anytime we needed something (forks, knives, napkins) me or my guess had to go up front and wait in line to get the items needed. The manager seemed really confused about pricing and how much each kid would cost for admission in the party room. And finally they dont have a CHANGING STATION! eeekkk! Its a great place to come and bring they kids to play. But I wouldnt book or recommend a birthday party here. We were about to go to the airport when our flight was canceled for our trip home to Denver. My wife and I quickly Yelped things to do that would work for our boys (two and four). At home we have our go-to places but were only in Portland for a night to catch a flight the next morning. Luckily we came across Monkey King and took a chance. The families in Portland are spoiled to have this place! We would love to have a place like this in Denver near our house. Our boys played hard for three straight hours. The owner was very nice and showed us around to get comfortable with how everything works. It's basically one giant enclosed play area - with different ways to get to each area. There are slides, air machines, nets, plenty of areas to climb - basically a dream for kids this age. Looks like there is also a small private room for birthday parties for kids to eat. If you're hungry, they serve Chinese food too! Did not see one unhappy kid (or parent) which is rare, Usually we are both checking our watches (mom and dad) at kid play areas. I've taken my 3 year old daughter here twice and she had an awesome time both times. So did I because I sat on the comfy couch and talked to my friends :) Not sure about what one of the reviewers said about them requiring you to be with your child the whole time if they are under 5. They didn't say anything to anyone about that, and it was pretty busy there today. And I was worried after reading that review, too. Thank goodness it's not true or they changed it or whatever. As far as the negatives, if you go on a Friday, the website says it's still only $8 (weekday price) but when you go they tell you they changed it and now they count Fridays as weekends so its $10. If they are going to do that, they need to change their website. But when I mentioned that the first time I went there, they only charged me $8. So at least they are nice about it. Also, don't expect anything great in the food department. It all looks like it came from a box/freezer. Kids aren't picky about that, though, so they don't care. Plus they give you tons of fries. You can't bring in outside food or drink, either. Today there was a mom feeding her kids hummus and seaweed in the bathroom. Gross, and gross. I guess she really didn't want the food there. haha. I think the size of the play structure is just fine. All the kids had a great time and they weren't complaining! It's pretty big, actually! Not as big as some others out there but still a good size. Downsides for my family were; a long drive from home, not a ton of structure to explore, no real juice option (capri sun) and food option were very stereotypical child foods at exorbitant prices. Also there are punching bags in the structure which seem to ask for violence and tears at some point. It happened twice while we were here but not to us. Overall my 2 year old kiddo had fun. He was interested in the structure for 45 minutes with minimal prompting and we stayed 2 hours after some more play with parrents to keep him interested. If we lived closer to this than any other play place we would come again. As it stands however probably not. read more
