Amazing time!!! One of the best days ever! Truly made my Summer! Pay to park all day. We got the adult unlimited rides wristbands which we found worth it. We loved the Cosmic Crash bumper cars, the Ferris Wheel which had an amazing view of the park, the Go Karts of course, the fast Rock & Roll ride with great music, and the Carousel. Our favorites were the rollercoaster which we did twice, I did the Zero Gravity ride twice which was fun and surprisingly relaxing too, and we loved the adrenaline rush of the AtmosFear ride. We chose the 180 option. Definitely will try the 360 option next time. Great they have those two choices. We stayed for hours. Clean park. Bathrooms were clean. Plenty of food and beverage options available. Merch for sale. Kiddie rides, family rides, adult rides. Great for groups, family, kids, teens, adults, couples. Soooo fun! Such a relaxing time but a super fun day and a great date activity. Waits for rides were not long, people were respectful, and staff were efficient. Can't say anything about the food as we ate before coming to the park so we didn't try anything but next time I would love to give the classic elephant ears a try! My day spent here definitely felt like an escape. A place to leave your worries behind and just have a good time. Such a thrill! Highly recommend Oaks Amusement Park. It was not great. My best friend grew up in Portland and said she'd been here many times growing up, but had never taken her own kids even though they live less than an hour away. I guess that should have been a clue. You can buy a bracelet, or individual tickets for rides. If you're accompanying a child under a certain age, you are able to buy a bracelet for a lower price. There's a handful of kid rides that kids can go on if they meet the height requirement. There's also a game area, with carnival-like games. But they're freaking expensive; we played the pond one since it was a guaranteed win and the odds of a 3 year old playing any of the other games successfully are pretty low. But it was 6 bucks. There were 3-4 other games in that area. It wasn't a very extensive park. And when we went on a Friday in August, there only seemed to be one of the food trucks open--the boba truck. So that was disappointing. But luckily they had other food, and that food wasn't too bad. Parking isn't bad. There's lots of it and it's cheap, I think it was $2. This review is just for the amusement park. My family and I had a really fun time, and I especially loved being able to go on rides with my toddler. The staff were nice, and the park honestly exceeded my expectations for a local amusement park. My only gripe was the wristband pricing. Kids under 48" still need their own wristband ($23.45-$26.45), and adults accompanying them need a companion wristband for the same price. The companion wristband only covers rides when you're riding with the child, so I thought that was a little steep, especially if both parents want to take turns. Still, seeing how much fun my toddler had made it worth it. Also, the carousel is free to ride! We also enjoyed the arcade. It didn't feel ridiculously hard to win prizes like some places. And our lunch and desserts were good, with pretty typical amusement park pricing. There are also plenty of bigger rides for thrill seekers. Overall, we had a great family day and I was pleasantly surprised by Oaks Park. read more

Absolute banger of an amusement park. Had so much fun with my friend. Great find and will love to come here again. The 360 Atmos Fear is probably the wildest ride I have done. The split second when you are upside down staring right at the ground at 360 degrees will rewind all your life in that moment lol. Amazon adrenaline rush - lot of fun. With just a little extra you can also go for Roller Skate rinks. It was my first time trying roller skating and it was so much fun. To the point that I will be a getting a roller skate to practice. A FREE admission amusement park is always what's good as there are only a handful of them in the country! So it's free to enter but it's pay per ride or get an unlimited wristband except for the train ride which is FREE! Buy tickets online and you get a discount or if you'd like me and are only going to ride a few things calculate how many tickets you need and buy them accordingly it will save you a bit! So for me it was all about Adrenaline Peak their Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter 320 model which has a clone in New Jersey on the boardwalk and is also a super fun ride so I couldn't pass up getting to ride the Oaks version and let me say this coaster was super fun very smooth and all thrill which is perfect and totally awesome for a small family park like this one! They have a cool free train ride that takes you around the park so definitely don't skip out on that! They also had a small county fair going on when I was here so that was a cool mix to add to an already super fun park! There really is something here for everyone so don't sell yourself short as this is a great local park that is definitely something I'd frequently visit if I lived here as I love places like this and there just aren't many out there like this anymore! What a wonderful day!!! Let me preface that it was a weekday and we were there EARLY. Also it was not raining and not hot, otherwise this would have been a completely different review. The staff was wonderful, kind and helpful, in particular the ticket lady who helped us figure out that with little ones we only needed the less expensive companion ticket. I came here with my boyfriend and his daughter. It's a very small amusement park, think like a faire. Also parking was shockingly cheap for Portland. I thought the prices were expensive for the rides. You are given a bracelet to wear that is scanned each time you ride a ride . Some of the rides were shut down during our visit. We didn't eat or drink while here but stuff smelled good. Not sure on dietary restrictions options. Had a great time at Oaks Park. It's a smaller amusement park out of all of the amusement parks I have been too, but that's one of the reasons I like it. The staff are usually friendly and the lines don't get terribly long with the exception of a couple of rides. Oaks Park doesn't have really big, interesting rides like Six Flags. It's small, family friendly, and lower cost. While I was there this visit, it was for a special event and it got pretty crowded, but they kept the ride lines moving. Lots of parking, $4 all day I believe. There is an entrance fee and depending what suits best for you and your child or family. There was a deal for wristband for my child and adult which is a few dollars off. A lot of rides were closed and there were only a few my daughter was able to go on due to height. Look to see which rides is good because I didn't prior and my daughter wasn't able to ride a lot of rides and more of just toddler ones. This review is for the Roller Rink. They recently took away the 25 cent lockers and replaced them for these terrible new $3 lockers THREE DOLLARS for a place to store your belongings... And don't forget to check what night it is at the roller rink or you'll be paying $20 per person to skate on an 80's themed night that really was no different from any other skating time or experience. I don't want to be so negative because it's usually not so awful but man has it gotten worse, you can't skate without someone pummeling you down. I'm only referring to skating... After I made my way off the floor and stumbled around to where I left my things. I was told I couldn't have a hat on unless it was tethered, and of course they sold tethers. Odd they couldn't bother to say anything to me while I was skating around. They often kick everybody off the floor to give selective people time to skate (amateurs, children under 10, master skaters, etc.); it's just silly and breaks up the flow, having to wait on the outside while other people skate around (though we all paid money for the privilege) The floor monitors are always trying to keep people moving, which I don't disagree with. However, on multiple occasions, people holding on to the rails trying to stay upright were told to move along, and they were doing the best they could; children shouldn't leave the skating floor in tears after being told to "keep it moving". When they were doing the best they could at a speed that was safe for them. This does explain why I've seen more collisions in the first 45 minutes I was there than I normally see at skating sessions elsewhere; because people are told to just keep skating, regardless of their ability or comfort level; when you slow down to not run into people, you are admonished by staff. The staff creates an unsafe environment The staff inconsistently enforces silly rules just to be bullies Given the racial makeup of the guests, it's clear that certain groups are not welcome and have chosen to skate and spend their money elsewhere. read more

I go to the roller rink when I can, especially during Gay Skate. Great vibes, good music, and the staff are always nice. The rental skates are in decent shape, but your own skates will always be better. They do have a skate shop with deals on reputable brands. If my 8th grade field trip wasn't the first time I visited Oaks Park back in 19[redacted], it was certainly the first I remember. Having been to Disneyland only once, a few years prior, I had something to compare it to, and despite it not being anywhere near the same level as the Magic Kingdom, Oaks Park has its own small town charm, and when sprinkled with a dash of nostalgia, conjures up similar, warm memories. Those nostalgia goggles unfortunately haven't red-shifted in the 30 years since that first visit, largely due to things like inflation: an all-day ride bracelet for an adult sets you back $43-$48, the larger sum during peak days (I'm assuming that means weekends and holidays), whereas those under 48" can snag one for basically half-price. Darn, my wife *almost* made it under the cut-off! Additionally, if you're no longer thrilled by thrill rides, the bracelet is definitely not worth it, which means the *visit* is not worth it, so you're better off staying home. They really should offer a per-ride purchase option; we came to the park to attend a free on-site event, but I really wanted to take my toddler son on the carousel, although I wasn't about to spend half a Benjamin to do it. If you're willing to fork over that amount, make sure to get your money's worth: arrive early, leave late. Eat cheap carnival food, and ride the rides until you barf it back up. And after sunset, the park *is* rather enchanting, even just to take a stroll down the main corridor. All-day parking is $5, and admission to the park itself is free, although your a la carte entertainment options are somewhat limited without the ride bracelet, but include the roller-skating rink, mini-golf, and the carnival games, which require purchased tickets. There's also plenty of covered tables and green space to spawl out for a party or picnic. I'll never forget seeing Oaks Park featured in an episode of my favorite Dutch "reality" show, Wie is de Mol, when the contestants ran a gauntlet of dashing between rides and grabbing envelopes of money, while wearing laser tag vests and dodging incoming fire from unseen opponents. It was one of the best episodes of the show, in the only season to feature the US (specifically Oregon) to-date (available on YouTube, with English subtitles, for the curious)! Sadly, unless you're one of those contestants, a viewer of the show, teen, tween, or a sunset-spectacled spectator gazing back upon it through the mists of time, the magic of Oaks Park is as faded as the paint on its muraled walls. read more

I've got to come back and update my review because the mouse poop'd claw machines are a thing of the past! yay! We went this past Saturday and had the best. time. ever. I better not see anyone complaining about prices here because I can't stop raving about how much of a deal we felt we got here with our kids. You can't go anywhere anymore without spending a bunch more than you used to, that's just the way life goes. Comparatively, we easily spend $100+ at any local arcade..so to get a full day of unlimited rides for $45ea, in my opinion, is way more than worth it. And yes you have to pay for parking now, but it's only $4 all day, and you've got to pay $8 all day to park at the rose test garden (and all other Portland parks now). They have operating costs to keep up with, but I value remains fair. The sun surprised us and it was the most beautiful day. The rides were so fun, our kids laughed a ton, and everyone we encountered (as always) was very friendly and helpful. A well staffed park, and upgrades everywhere you look where needed (like the arcade noted in my last nightmare review). We will be back many more times this season! read more

Brought family here from out of town. The kids loved the rides and games. Very spendy, though! Ride bracelets are $44 pp, and game tickets are $40 for 10 tickets. We only spent around 2 hours here and dropped about $300 for 4 ride bracelets, 20 game tickets, and a few food items. Some of the rides were out of service, which was disappointing. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the food is good. The park is clean and so are the restrooms. They have plenty of benches and picnic tables throughout the park. Most of the rides are in direct sunlight, so bring a hat and water. Fun time, but be prepared to spend a lot of money! read more

I didn't even know there's an amusement park existed in Portland until I read advertised about their haunted house this year! It's a fun place for family with kids to spend a few hours. I haven't been to a haunted house since 2021, let alone 3 of them in the same night. It's almost impossible to scare me, especially for staging objects such as haunted houses, similarly with horror movies; the very end of the haunted castle got me a little since the illusion made you think and feel as though you were dropping into a hole!!!!! I won't say more because it'll be a spoiler for those who haven't been in it. The roller coaster looks terrifyingly quick and fun! I will definitely be back for it. Facility was clean with well lit restrooms. It was after 9pm for me so most food carts were closed. I want to come back for the elephant ears cart! Important Notes: -The GPS will take you to the Sellwood Riverfront Park parking lot so you have to keep driving to the end of the road, then you will arrive at Oaks Amusement Park to your left. -You have to pay for parking! Oak's Amusement Park is one of our favorite family places to go. The best part about this place is their Chippers Preschool programs that they offer. Two days a week on weekdays they offer different younger children aged oriented things. In the summer they offer two days a week Chippers Preschool Rides, where the kids can ride unlimited little kid rides for a certain amount of time. You can also bring an older sibling as well. It is SUCH a great idea, and they also allow one adult to ride with little kids on the rides that they need assistance. It's so frustrating when you go to amusement parks and they make you pay full price for the adults too, and this is such an affordable price and a great way of doing it. In the winter/spring they are closed for the regular rides, but they offer the same type of program for the indoor skating rink. This is THE BEST. My 3 year old can't skate on her own, and my husband won't skate, but during this time alone they allow adults on the rink in their regular shoes, and even strollers for parents with babies etc. It is so nice for my husband to be able to walk her around the rink in his shoes. Meanwhile, my older kid can practice skating around without it being so busy and crowded like the regular skate times. Everyone we have every encountered is really great, they are always really wonderful. I know that they had some issues recently last year with that one ride, but all we have ever experienced is great rides, and we have never encountered anything that was unsafe. read more

This particular review is for The Oaks Roller Rink at Oaks Amusement Park. It's a quaint little theme park mostly kiddie rides that is situated nicely right along the river in Portland. I have roller skated at rinks all over the USA and even in Canada a bit and The Oaks massive rotunda floor is 1 of the nicest rinks I have ever skated on. Well well well. Oaks Park. Let's start with the crazy line. Whoa. Why the long line? Well we got to the "second" line, which was for parties and those who had tickets. Well we moved over to that line only to have utter terror bestowed upon us. The security guard woman with the mohawk is a TAKE NO CRAP kind of lady. She gives 0 cares about anything you say to her. We said we were there for a birthday party, gave the name and she just shook her head and said NOPE. So I said maybe her husband put it under his name, tried that and the same response. Then she said you can call them but they have to come OUT HERE and give you the tickets. Okay then. The woman legit loves her power over the door security and intimidating people. If that's what they were looking for in hiring her...NAILED it!!! I had originally thought evening was adult skate only. No. There were far more kids there than adults which made for a lot of pile ups and jammed up skating. I am not a poor skater but I'm also not confident enough to zoom around a pack of people. The rink was cleanish. Trash cans overflowing and irritated employees galore though. I didn't get a warm fuzzy feeling from the staff and I absolutely hated that the rink was PACKED. It made for a less than enjoyable time. The legendary Oaks Park rink was legendary crap this night. I might try it again since skating itself was fun but definitely not on a Saturday night!!! read more

I was skating next to my 10 year old daughter next to the rail side where beginners tend to be. A man skating too fast but an obvious seasoned skater came up behind her and grabbed her from behind in a disturbing in appropriate way, which pushed her down and he landed sitting on her head and neck. He told the skate guard he was trying to go around her, and got to skate off. My daughters neck was injured and she never wants to skate again and says she doesn't feel safe in the world. No one would who worked there would do anything. They treated me like I was crazy that a man who grabbed my daughter and landed 200 pounds on her neck would maybe not be allowed to skate anymore. We ended up having to leave. He skated the rest of the night. This is not a safe place for kids, especially girls. read more

Wow. I don't even know how to start this review besides saying just don't have a birthday party here they have one line to intake for birthday parties and there are typically about five employees running that line however plan on your party having to wait in line for 30 to 45 minutes just to check in now if the party starts at 1 o'clock and if your entire party has to wait in line for 30 to 45 minutes, that's basically a full hour off of your birthday party. The organization of that line is wild. It's ridiculous to have people waiting in line for 30 to 45 minutes to check in for a birthday party. There are two lines for just general admission that are empty the entire time there should be two lines for birthday parties and one line for general admission. There has to be a better way to mitigate this issue. I've been to multiple birthday parties at the roller rink and every single time. It is like this this time was the worst. We waited in line for 50 minutes. By the time we got out of line and our party got their skates. We were in the middle of putting on our first skate when they called our entire party to the café to start eating. This is what I mean when I say you are not getting your full part is worse because you have to wait in this egregiously poorly organized line. You're better off paying for general admission for all of the children who will be skating and taking them to your house after for pizza - because they're pizza taste like crap too. For the price this should be a great birthday party but that's getting your full-time worth and that does not happen. If anything I would say plan for your party to start at 2 o'clock and tell your party to get there at 1 o'clock to start checking in oh and by the way, if the host has not checked in first the entire party cannot check in. So if you're the host of the party, I highly suggest you getting there early so your guests don't have to wait for you because believe me when I say that line might start small, but it gets long and stays long for the entire time. Oaks Amusement Park is a staple in the Sellwood district of Portland. It is a hidden gem with a hundred years of history from train riders to epic performances. Our favorite is the famous Wurlitzer pipe organ hanging above the roller skating rink. It is played by the very professional Keith Fortune who has been there for years. Our only regret is that we didn't discover Oaks Parks sooner. We love the rides, the event, the mascot, the food, the whole Retro place!!! We took our 5-year old granddaughter and she had a good time. My wife and I were surprised that a number of the rides for small children didn't always have an operator consistently. A couple of times we got to the entry literally seconds after the gate was closed and even though there were a number of rides that had no one on or in them, the operator would not open the gate for one more child. (Late post) The Thirteen Year Old's Birthday: Oaks Park (I have more to post about her bday but this is just about OP). Just a coincidence that we went near her birthday, but this happened very close to it so I'll include it. We try to go every couple of years but rarely do we ride rides together as when she was younger she was too small / I was too big for the small rides, and as she got older she would bring a friend and I would chaperone and just maybe ride a couple of rides with them. But this day was special because we got there when it opened and we rode all the rides together, and all day at that. She chose almost every ride and was very exited about that. The newer roller coaster Adrenaline Peak she had ridden previously (and at that time getting on a ride like that was a big deal), but this time around she was very excited for us to be on the roller coaster together. This was also her first time driving the go-karts. She was very nervous about that (I had to beg and bribe for that one). She was so slow that everyone passed her and then she was in last place and then everyone passed her a second time. She went as slow as possible but I think it was a pretty big deal for to conquer that fear. She also did AtmosFEAR (the one that goes 360 degrees) for the first time and was very proud of herself for conquering that. It was a very fun day, she loved getting to chose which ride we rode on (and since it wasn't busy we rode the rides over and over), along with conquering some fears, and eating lots of junk food. Days like this can turn into kids getting bored or acting spoiled or moody, but she was so grateful and happy. A long overdue father daughter trip to Oaks Park. A lot of smiles for the both of us. Not an ideal place for new time skaters. This place was packed on the weekday. It took 30+ minutes to purchase tickets and skates. I felt bad for the folks who purchased tickets ahead of time as they had a longer wait. Skate shoe sizes were wrongly given three times even though I gave my daughter's physical shoe for sizing. At the shoe counter, attendant was spraying disinfectant shoe spray in our direction where we inhaled a bunch of the fumes. Once we received the correct shoe, we went to the beginner area. There was no one assisting in the young beginner area. Kids were knocking down my child, kicking the back of her skates, rushing her and breathing down her neck, and passing her. It was chaos. We spent 30.00 for 15 minutes of skating. To top it off, someone parked like a jerk and didn't pull up all the way. I had to spend 20 minutes backing in and out to ensure I didn't hit their car or anyone else's. This was a very frustrating experience and we won't return to this rink because of it. This is a place that is a must go. Can't say enough good things. Family owned on the banks of the willamette river. It's beautiful. Family type rides for all ages. The highlight is roller skating and I can't emphasize enough you how cool it is. It's like stepping back twenty years. The hardwood floors are amazing. This is a delightful amusement park. We had a very fun and whimsical time. Notable rides: Adrenaline Peak: 10/10. Hardly any line, beautiful pink color, big drop right off the bat, lots of upside down time but not excessively long. She's classy and succinct, she doesn't overstay her welcome. A physical rollercoaster but an emotional one as well. Rock-O-Plane: -100/10!! DO NOT RIDE UNLESS YOU HAVE A DEATH WISH OR YOU ARE MASOCHIST. You will see this and think "oh, it's like the Zipper, I like the Zipper." You are WRONG. It is a billion times worse in every conceivable way. You might think "oh, I bet the lap bar goes all the way down and holds me in place." You are WRONG. If you are small, you will slide up and down and SLAM your head into the metal ceiling. Conversely, if you are tall, your head will be touching the ceiling the entire time. You will be frequently be bearing your entire body weight on your head, and it is more painful than Atlas carrying the weight of the world. If you are sitting on the outside by the door, there is a piece of metal that will jab into your hip every time the cage rocks. Rocko overstayed his welcome by what was probably minutes but felt like hours. Whenever I thought my suffering was finally coming to an end, lo and behold, another rickety loop of pain. Rocko rocked my world so hard that I had to leave the park for three hours and sit in my car, reclined eating Cheez Its one by one trying to come to my senses while my friend rushed to get me Nauzene. Imagine a Ferris wheel that wants to kill you. That is the Rock-o-Plane. Rock n' Roll: 8/10. Fun ride but the first fifteen seconds of "That's Alright" by Elvis were heard but then skipped. Why? Do you not enjoy the king? Who hurt you? Were you trying to hurt me? But we went in a cute pink car!! Zero Gravity: 9/10. We pretended to be dead on this one. The pressure of the centrifugal force made it feel like what I think dead people feel like in their coffins under all that dirt. Carousel: 7/10. Was a beautiful carousel from 1912. The painting of a Native American and a Middle Eastern woman were also definitely from 1912. Eek! Fun variety of animals though! The AtmosFEAR: ?/10. Buckle up because this ride sure didn't! This ride promised to go 360. The shoulder restraint descended upon us on their own like some kind of mechanical guardian angel. The floor moved out of the way, and we started to swing. 30 seconds in, the swing abruptly slowed down. Was that it? A helpful employee explained that there a malfunction and anyone who wanted to get off the ride could, but we could also stay on and they were going to attempt to run it another time. A few cowardly souls gave up and exited the ride. Looking back, they were the smart ones. Having saved this for our last ride of the day, we were compelled to see it through. After more shoulder restraint tomfoolery, finally the floor parted. We were starting to think this might be our last ride ever (but dying in an amusement park would be a poetic death for the clowns that we are) so we stayed on. This time, the ride made an alarming clanking sound with each swing. It slowed down and returned to its starting position. By this point, the park was closed and a handful of people waiting on the other riders had gathered by the fence and were staring at us like we were pathetic zoo animals. The employee returned. She very kindly explained that we were going to attempt this one more time. There were more problems with the restraints. At this point, the setting sun had backlit something that was casting the shadow of a cross over the archway of the bumper car building. This was probably a sign from the Lord telling us to get off right then and there, but given that a kind old woman in a hotel lobby had prayed for us earlier that day, we decided that it was Him looking out for us and declared that we would in fact become devout Christians should this ride achieve the fabled 360. It did not. We swung for fifteen more seconds and then immediately stopped again. The shoulder restraints rose. They got stuck halfway. Filled with hubris, I foolishly attempted to squeeze out between the shoulder bar and the seat despite the employee's promise that it would eventually release us. As I had my big old noggin partway out, the bar began to lower onto my neck as children filmed me. By some miracle, it stopped short of decapitating me or otherwise maiming me. This is of no fault of the ride, nor the park or staff. I don't know why I did this. Do NOT do this. The bar did in fact eventually lift and we were free at last. However, as the ride failed to complete a 360, we will not be embracing the Lord and will continue our respective lives of homosexual sin. None of this is the fault of the park staff, and I'm very appreciative that they chose to close the ride rather than risk us hurtling to our death. I hope they get a billion dollar raise. I usually come here during haunting season and it's always chaotic because nothing is ever easy to find. It's fun and the prices are okay. Food is basic fair food and staff are mostly disinterested youth. Recently came for skating since I haven't been in years. It was pretty fun to try again after all these years and we were glad it wasn't crowded. Skates are super old. It seems like they haven't upgraded those in decades. The laces are destroyed and you're trying to thread them through the holes when they are all splayed out, not an easy task. One was so short I could barely tie it while the other was far too long. They have some games in there and the restrooms are fine, but way in the back. My biggest gripe with OP is that last year they started charging for parking. People are paying to be here so the greed of parking fees for your own business is quite disgusting. And you can say it's only a few dollars, but that's for now. No doubt it will continue to escalate and likely be higher during things like haunt season. To be honest, I think their prices are a little high in general. Skating only goes for 4 hours so when you think about spending over $20 per person for that activity alone (got to rent those skates too) it's just not worth it, let alone if you spend less time. Some of the rides are kiddie while others are truly horrific (being upside down for long periods did no one any favors). Then my friend's kid getting stuck on one of the rides, just not a great ending to that trip either. This may kind of be your only choice for activities like this, but be prepared to pay. read more

If you live in the Portland area then oaks park is a must. Hands down the greatest little gem that that makes Portland Portland Portland... I mean you get the tiny little Portland vibe that you've come to love.. The food the games the rides just micro. I mean it is so Portland the way that Portland is the world's littlest big city.. This is the littlest bit'll lift big amusement park. Granted this is a great spot for younger children and having younger children we make sure to come a few times every year with good weather Not to mention one of the few roller rings still around now that Gresham closed down.. We always have A-blast here the Mini arcade the little fair games album his little fair games elephant ears and of course the rides. I know as an adult fearing spinny rides I spend all of my time and go carts and bumper carts with the kids... Keep a look out for risk band days they often do buy 1 get 1 and anybody under 48" will receive the half price risk band compared to an adult. It's impossible not to have A-blast here. read more
