Fantastic escape room! We came on the weekend and did "The stolen Diamond" escape room and it was a perfect amount of challenging and fun. We were able to crack the case with about 10 minutes left on the clock and wanted to queue up for another game but sadly they work best off of reservations. We did Legend of the Shoals as a two person room, and it was really fun and challenging! We loved the diversity of the puzzle types and the range of complexities between each puzzle. Our puzzle master was also great about giving us hints when we needed them. Awesome experience!! read more

I am a huge fan of escape games and consider myself an avid player. My rating is based on the game we played called The Cursed Tomb. This room fell very flat. The decor of the rooms was set up nice and at first I was excited It really lacks puzzles. There are no key locks to decode. There are very few things in the room to solve. I will admit the puzzles they had were a little bit of a challenge. They had one clue that had nothing at all to do with anything so that was a waste of time. We played with three people. Overall, I was very disappointed. If your not experienced then I would say ok give it a try but if you are experienced then I feel this would be a disappointment. I fear the other rooms may be set up the same way so I won't be returning. Employees were lovely and at the end they gave us a small monkey token that was nice. read more

After a terrible Escape Room experience in Portland, ME, we needed to get that taste out of our mouth. We did "The Stolen Diamond" as it was listed "good for beginners". The was challenging just enough and our kids loved it. When we escaped the room we were offered a discount for a same day 2nd room. Our kids begged and begged because they enjoyed the first room so much. We came back later that evening and did "The Antidote" which is intermediate. Also a lot of fun, ironically we finished this room 10 minutes sooner than the beginner room. Their puzzles were creative in both rooms and were some of the best escape rooms we have done. read more

I think I had posted a review ages ago giving this one three stars. Really happy to up it to 4 after a recent visit. My last review was critical on the over focus on atmosphere and lack of clarity in puzzles. I'm very happy to say that has been fixed! I did the Antidote and the pirate room. Beautiful theming! Really stellar room appeal, right down to disguising outlets. For the Antidote, really fun steam punk room. They did put in one of my least favorite kind of red herrings where they give you a key to something early in that wastes time, but it was only 5 minutes so it's not too bad. Some puzzle pieces are hard find in that room and not fully intuitive to locate. But overall a solid room will fun effects! (I definitely screamed at one of them!) The pirate room was interesting! Really great concept. Not a ton of puzzles per se but the puzzles had a few pieces to figure out. I think it would be ideal for an experienced duo or solo expert like myself. No red herrings here, just a few different pieces of each puzzle that can trip you up. I feel like this room was a bit of a new style for them. Really really good first attempt at this style of room! Maybe the best escape room we've been to! The room was unique and challenging. For 5 people, we usually end with time to spare, but this one was over the top challenging - in a good way! It was also very easy to sign up online. They also do a good job staggering the start/stops so different teams don't collide in the halls. We did the intermediate level room with 4 adults (parents and grown kids). The orientation speech was short and relevant to maximize our experience. Was it tough? Yes but fun to work together to escape the room. Personally I liked our group size of four. Six would be max for me. Much better than we expected because everyone could contribute. Found this place online and after reading the yelp reviews, I knew we had to try it. Our family enjoys escape rooms and these did not disappoint. We enjoyed the first one so much that we opted to book another one later that night. We got a discount when booking the second room. The staff was so nice and you can tell they really take pride in their work. There are plenty of games to play while waiting to go into your room. It has a really great vibe and it was a ton of fun! Monkey Mind Escape room deserves all the business they can get. Their customer service is top notch, their rooms are very well laid out and have enough room so you don't feel squished, and the way they guide you through with clues doesn't make you feel dumb haha. They truly made our night 100x better and they really just... they were amazing. It's a little tough to find, but you'll see the sign right across from the music hall down the alley with The Green Room. It's in a larger building that has offices and other businesses inside, but they have very clear cut signs as to where you're going. Once you get into the room, it decorated with all sorts of fun monkey themed items. They offer you snacks, drinks and a place to lounge that have some games to kill the time if you got there a bit early. What made our experience top notch was the people, for sure. Our night was a little crazy considering there was a mis-booking on OUR part but Monkey Mind took such good care of us. They were able to sneak us in where there was a block of time and we were able to enjoy their room. It meant so much to me (considering I was the one who made a mistake and I was actually really upset with myself lol) that they worked with us and did everything they could to turn our night around. That type of customer service is difficult to come by but they truly have some all-stars working there. The room we did was great, it was challenging but it was fun! We ALMOST made it (with two people, not bad!) but came just shy of getting the last few puzzles. Overall, this is a great place to go to break up the walking, the eating, the shopping, the walking, the eating... it's great for date night or team building. What a fantastic experience it was! As a group of 4 we were seated in a waiting area to enjoy the cutest parrot and wait for instructions. We explored 2 rooms - The diamond searching one and Antidote, we had such a great time! Everything was well-organized, all the quizzes and little tricky things were well arranged (and hidden). What a wonderful (and stimulating) set-up you will find here! We're huge escape room buffs - had completed around 20 and attempted a few more in the DC-Maryland-Virginia area - and these were some of the most organized, well-thought out, and well-constructed rooms we have been to. We tried two on our first go - one pirate-themed and one ancient Egypt-themed - and we are certainly coming back before we leave town. They were challenging but not impossible, and the puzzles all made sense and can be figured out with logic (nothing far-fetched!! No deus ex-machina necessary!). The staff (one of them was the owner, very pleasant gentleman) was helpful and patient. I would recommend this to anyone. Even if this is your first time going to an escape room, you will have fun. read more

My husband and I just completed Monkey Mind Escape's Cursed Tomb room. We have completed 25-30 rooms in the past 3 years, and are constantly looking for something novel to wow us, and boy oh boy does Monkey Mind do just that. Renee and Larry were some of the kindest owners and game masters that we've ever met, and were just as enthusiastic and passionate about escape games as we had guessed from their promo photos! Now on to our impressions of the room itself: Pros: when they say movie set quality - they mean it. It's clear no expense was spared in the construction of this room. The icing on the cake though is the quality and variety of the puzzles, which all fit very cohesively into the theme of the room. There were lots of great surprises and fun puzzles that we hadn't ever seen before. Cons: Really the only feedback for puzzles that we would give is for seasoned escapers: this is truly a 45 minute escape. There's an entry room that has 15 minutes dedicated to it that realistically only needs about 2-3. Oh, and don't overthink things! They have made this room challenging, but fun and accessible for everyone. Overall - 5/5 would recommend that you run, don't walk to do the Cursed Tomb. It just opened up and we are sure that as sure as people catch on to how delightful it is, it will be very hard to get a booking! read more
