There's constant emphasis that Monk's Home Improvements is a separate legal entity from Monk's Design Studio. But if you face any issues at all, it will escalate to the same individuals, which is exactly what happened to me. Now imagine that you're arguing with the employees of Monk's Home Improvements and you decide to cut ties with them. You've had yelling matches with these individuals for not doing a good job, and as a result, there's a lot of ill will. Even though you've cut ties with Monk's Home Improvements, you have to deal with the exact same individuals when scheduling shipment of your materials and fabrication. It's your property, paid in full, but they have so much control over your property and can ruin your project timelines at a whim. This made me anxious and uncomfortable for over 6 months. Over 5 contractors that were bidding for the jobs told me not to write a review about Monk's Home Improvements or provoke them in any way due to how much control the people I argued with had over me and my property. They further complicate things because if you have any defective or damaged materials, you have to contact Monk's (Monk's Home Improvements and/or Monk's Design Studio), who contacts their providers. They will not provide you any contact information to their suppliers. I've asked multiple times. So there's 2 degrees of separation from the suppliers. There will be 3 if you add your contractors. To top things off, Monk's Design Studio messed up my order. The kitchen island did not have recessed toe space on the sides of the kitchen island as the blueprints indicated. This really reduces the functionality of the kitchen island area. They also added items to my order that they told me I was supposed to have caught before sign-off on the order. I suppose I am at fault for trusting them with ordering items we agreed about in person in the design phase.. So unless you plan on using Monk's 100% regardless of any conflicts or problems that might arise, I would go elsewhere with regards to the design and the purchasing of materials. We recently renovated two bathrooms with Monks Home Improvements. We were extremely pleased with the the final outcome. The entire team from Monk's that worked on our project were terrific. We worked closely with Anina as our design consultant. She has a great eye and her design expertise guided us seamlessly through the entire process from visualization to installation. She is professional, diligent, and hard working. She worked quickly to resolve any questions or concerns that we encountered. Ward Malnak provided us with price quotes for the labor & materials associated with the job. He walked us through all of the numbers, taking the time to thoroughly explain the pricing and the scope of the work. He too was highly professional & was great with following up on any open items. Bill Buckner was the project manager assigned to our project. I can't say enough about Bill. What a great guy...hard working, extremely organized, patient and great with follow-up & problem resolution. Bill was very approachable with any issues that arose during the construction phase of the product and went above and beyond to make sure that we were 100% satisfied every step of the way. The entire team assigned to our project were a pleasure to work with and I would absolutely recommend Monks Home Improvement to others looking for quality workmanship. We wanted to rearrange the fixtures so we sought a good renovator who knew what they were doing and found Monk's online. We found the whole experience with Monk's to be top-notch. The showroom is well-stocked without being overwhelming. Our designer was Cindy Gilmore. She really got to know our tastes and needs and was extremely helpful in making choices and putting elements together over several visits. Also, Monk's has software that allows you to see the finished room, which we really appreciated. The workmanship was excellent. Measurements were done again and again, checked and double-checked, and extensive documentation provided. The project manager Bill Buckner was onsite frequently and very responsive throughout the process, as was Cindy. A very special shout-out to Isaac and his team for the actual workmanship. Isaac's tile work is gorgeous, perfectly done, very meticulous. He offered his educated opinion when a decision on a detail was needed and he always had the right answer. He and his guys cleaned up every night. The project took longer than we thought but the outcome is stunning and extremely well done. read more

I needed to replace my worn-out marble floors that flowed from a large foyer down a long hallway. I worked with Robert Farley, an expert on flooring products, who introduced me to several options and price points, which led to a great choice. We had Monk's replace many windows in our 1910 house. After visiting a lot of clueless window suppliers, we were so relieved to discover Monk's! They provided the very highest-quality windows AND installed them. Brian and Trevor and Roberto are all extremely knowledgeable and highly skilled. The new windows are superb, and blend perfectly with the original windows of our historic house. We then had Monk's paint the entire exterior of our home. From start to finish, the process of having our front door, side lights and storm door replaced by Monks went very smoothly and we are delighted with the result. Everyone we dealt with was very knowledgeable and professional. Peter Sicoli was invaluable in helping us select the right door and guiding us through the whole process every step of the way. The installation team removed the old door and installed the new one with a minimum of disruption. They did a through job of cleaning up any debris and removing the old door and packing material from the site. MONK renovated our kitchen and powder room. It involved coordinating a team of various crews and they were all terrific. Matthew Ayres came in to manage the project with a great attitude. We developed our project with Amanda C. From the beginning it was amazing. She was deeply knowledgeable and experienced, knew how to understand what we liked and disliked when choosing the materials and designing our bathrooms and kitchen, took it to the next level by always explaining how things would work in the spaces after the job was done ("this is amazing, but it will not work for this space or look too big for it"), and often would, after we had already chosen something, come up with another option because she felt we would like it better (and we did). In the end, we felt safe and protected by having her develop our spaces. read more

We scheduled our Kitchen renovation earlier in the year. The longest lead time was the ordering of the materials. The work started a week or so early, and was completed easily within the timeframe discussed. Basically 6-8 weeks. Overall we had a very good experience from the initial consultation, in the showroom, through the project completion, up until the final punch-list. We love the results and our kitchen is beautiful. Monk's repaired and replaced damaged shower floor, tile, wood framing, shower pan, drain, insulation, and added water-proofing system and marble slabs for glass. John at Monk's was super responsive always getting back to me in a timely manner. He also stayed on top of our project to see that it started in a very reasonable timeframe. All of the work took 4 days to complete and the quality of the work exceeded our expectations. The shower looks so much better than it did when it was first installed. Wanted Monk's to paint my basement walls with Drylock paint, which helps to prevent water seepage through the cinder block walls. Monk's did that and did work to also cover stains from previous water stains. The walls look great. Also had them paint my basement floor which had floor tiles removed the week before the paint work. Also a really great job. Working with Roberto was very easy. He listened to what we were looking for and provided feedback for our estimate.
