We hired Tristate Stone and Tile for a custom sink and countertop install. While the final sink itself turned out beautiful, the overall experience was frustrating and disappointing. As others have stated, they aren't very customer service focused with emails and phone calls left unanswered for days and weeks. Communication was poor from the start, with very little sense of urgency. Their installers broke our medicine cabinet during installation -- then blamed us and our contractor, saying it shouldn't have been installed yet. This was never communicated beforehand, and we had made it clear they would be responsible for any damage. While they eventually agreed to cover the cost, we had to chase them for weeks to get reimbursed. They also removed the doors from our vanity cabinet and lost the hinge screws, which caused further unnecessary delays. The sink arrived unfinished, with glue all over the inside of the custom basin. We were empathetic to the fact that they're short-staffed, but the delays dragged our project out by months. To their credit, they were honest and ultimately made good on everything -- but only after persistent follow-up. If you choose to work with them, be ready to stay on top of every detail yourself. read more

The least customer service oriented business I've ever dealt with. Our kitchen counter project was left unfinished, walls were damaged, paint and walls were damaged and left unrepaired, electrical outlets were left dangling with exposed bare wires, the dishwasher was not attached to either the counter or cabinets,etc. When I brought this to Christine and her staff they chose a bullying approach to talk over my complaints until I had to ask them to shut up and listen. Rather than try to address a customer complaint they excused the jobs shortcomings as standard practice and tried to blame for not reading their customer disclosure form. The granite was a nice product, and thankfully I'm just handy enough to take on the finish tasks that they refused to complete. After visiting the hardware store for $35 worth of screws and hardware we have a completed project. The saying ' the customer is always right' means nothing to Christine at True state and frankly we've withheld final payment to try to get this message across but its clear they don't care for customers satisfaction. Before I was a customer at Tri-State Stone and Tile, I worked with their company and my customers, at a big box store. They were the only vendor that ALWAYS received rave reviews. So , it was easy for me to choose Tri-State for my new countertops. They have a beautiful show room with just about every color material you could dream of. Caterina helped me with my selection and I brought the samples home with me. This is very important! Always look at your selections in your lighting at home. Daniella , who I think runs the show, is the absolute best! The vendor was not shipping my slabs in a timely fashion. Daniella was on the phone with the company and guess what showed up the next day! When the crew showed up, they spent the entire day ripping out my tile(ugh) countertops and installing the beautiful quartz counters. Mike was flexible with dates (we had a medical emergency that postponed our start date) but once we agreed on a start date he was prompt and there were no delays. You learn every day... I had granite counters installed by another company two years ago. I wanted them resealed. Tri state said they could do it for about $190. They wanted payment up front. That was unusual, but I did it. They were to come on Wednesday and be gone by 11:30, due to my schedule. When no one showed up by 11:00, I called. We rescheduled for Friday. On Wednesday afternoon, I got an email invoice that they had run my charge card even though they had not done the job. Two men showed up Friday. I learned that the routine to seal the granite was to wipe with acetone, wipe off with paper towels. Spray on with a sealer, wipe off with paper towels. Spray on for shine, wipe off with paper towels. Done. Why did I hire a tile company for that kind of seal that the men told me should be done every six months??? My Friend used another company who said their seal procedure lasts six years. Live and learn. read more

My wife and I bought a condo in Rockaway NJ about a year ago. We were very happy with it except for the old kitchen counter 1960 vintage. Fortunately we were referred to Tri-State Stone &Tile. Yesterday a crew of 3 men came and replaced the old formica counters with the most beautiful granite counter. They were quick, clean and friendly. "As I stated, I am trying to reach the suppler as to the manufacturer name, I will give it to you if I get it..." He doesn't even know who actually makes the products he sells and takes no responsibility for them after the consumer buys them from him. This is absolutely consumer fraud and deception. Several months ago we Purchased a counter and sink from tri state stone and tile. We were matching an existing granite island. When it was delivered the counter was too wide in the back.( they made the template) Instead of them bringing it back and forth again I etched out the back wall myself, it then fit perfectly. We were very happy with there job. A few months later we brought tri state a piece of my granite and two templates for other small extra areas in kitchen. I had my wife pick up the pieces, when she brought them home the one piece was cut completely wrong, my template was absolutely altered evenly on both sides the other piece had a cut out that even the employees didn't understand and knew was wrong, it wasn't drastic like the piece that was altered so I decided to use it because it was such a good piece. The other piece was ruined but I had more so I gave them a new template and piece (which of course was not as good as the first piece Becuase I was using the best sections first) I also gave them another small simple piece for additional third area. When I brought them home I realized the simple square piece was backwards (emails to prove that piece) And the other piece was too tight. I called and asked if they still had my template to fix it, Danielle said she would check, she never got back to me even though I called several times. I was done with there incompetence so I bought a grinder and made the last pieces fit, the square piece I settled for with the vein in the rear and the first piece that was also cut slightly wrong I now realized I had to adjust to fit also. Not one piece was correct. I called and now spoke with the owner and explained all the problems. I explained that I had to fix all there work, and also had to settle for inferior pieces. He said I signed that they were not responsible for broken pieces, and suggested my templates may have been wrong ( my profession is leather interiors on high end new cars, Bentley - Rolls etc, making patters...) I explained I wasn't looking for damages, I just should not pay for their work not completed correctly. I couldn't believe he was arguing with me for 270.00 dollars when I gladly spent over 3200.00 previously, and was planning on a bathroom vanity with double sink. All I can say is buyer beware, things go wrong your screwed, he cares more about a few dollars than the customers or doing the job right. read more
