i love this library and i've come here since i was a kid…read more they have a bunch of video games for switch, ps5, xbox, and ps4. when i was a kid they had wii games i'd rent they have a lot of different stuff even more niche stuff like a bunch of manga series and more they have an event calendar for different events at the library for stuff like interactive programs, stuff for black history month, themed activities like learning different art skills and crafts, stuff for pride month, etc. i've never been to any of the events but there's a bunch you can go to. they just added a "sensory space" which is a room upstairs you can fidget around and lay around in and it's pretty cool, the downside is a staff member has to stand in the room while you're in there to make sure nothing goes wrong which is awkward, so i don't go in. the teen section is nice i just wish they didnt get rid of the couch they have dvds, movies, all stuff like that you can rent being able to use the computers and printers is cool, and they just added a kiosk thing recently where you can check out a macbook air or a windows laptop by using your library card which is really cool if you wanna use a laptop. the worst part, which isn't the library's fault; every single time i've ever come in here, which is dozens and dozens of times over my whole life, there is ALWAYS a kid screaming and crying. every time i come, eventually while i'm there some kid starts having a meltdown while their parents let them and it's obnoxious, and the staff does nothing about it. if you actually need to study that might make it hard, but it's usually only one kid and they're usually downstairs in the kid area away from the study/work areas upstairs so at least you can tune it out.

Books they don't have, you can often borrow from other libraries in the network. All of the librarians have always been friendly and helpful. Also there have been many times when my home printer wasn't working and it was a lifesaver to be able to come here and print my documents at a cheap price. It's also a relaxing place to just sit and read a book!

My nieces have been…read moregoing here for years to check out their summer books - we have a summer residence in SSP, and Upper Shores is a short car ride (or bike ride) away. Recently, we spent some time here on a rainy day to just read and chill out. First, if you're an avid reader, Upper Shores has a great selection (both in person and online) of books. The library does appear a bit on the small side, but don't let that fool you! In addition, the staff will be happy to order you a book on loan from another library and they're usually there within a day or so. Their loan time on Libby (which you should all download for e-books and audiobooks) is 21 days which is better than my local library at 14 days. The app is also a coinvent way to look up and place a hold on desired books so they can be ready for pickup. As I mentioned, I also spent a wonderful afternoon here with my nieces. We parked ourselves in some comfy chairs and read for a few hours. There is plenty of space to do just that - and I was pleasantly surprised with the free phone charger locker that fast-charged my phone in a matter of minutes. I also know they have a great selection of programs available for kids throughout the summer, too! One thing I will say: it is very difficult to get a library card here. Only tax-paying residents that show proof of address can get a card here. Therefore, my parents are entitled to a card but I (as a member of their household) am not. The same goes for my nieces - even though they are in elementary school, they are not entitled to a card as a member of their parents' household. So I registered my mom for a card and am using her number to take out books. The staff kindly but firmly talked me through this whole process. I understand why, however - there are so many transients in the area, I can see a vacationer borrow books and never give them back. You are entitled to a guest card for 10 dollars if you aren't a taxpayer, however it's only good for four weeks. Regardless, library are important cornerstones of communities, and I am very happy to use / support Upper Shores!

Received a notice of registration suspension for not having insurance went in early to prove I had insurance. The agent would not accept the proof also the notice was in the wrong name. Had to argue with that issue thank God I brought my wife. Got a supervisor involved was just as bad as the agent, what it finally came down to was a money grab when I submitted to their power-hungry trip, they finally figured out that we were right and that insurance was on the vehicle all the time no lapse in coverage. What was even scarier is my wife worked for these people and these two clowns didn't even consider what she said. No wonder there are cops and security, these people have NO and I mean NO common sense even when you show them. They are arrogant self-centered and out right rude. All they look at is the computer and what the computer tells them, is what they see. But then look at their leadership and one can understand why. The sad part is I don't see it getting better because these people just don't give a crap and this place is a reginal office. Hate to see what a standard office would act like. When New Jersey says it's a privilege to drive they took that word to the limit and mean it. God help people who go to this office you better have plenty of patience because you will need it

Unfortunately during our last visit there were hardly any animals out which was odd. The area is historical with old farm houses and even staff dressed up in traditional farm clothes which is cute. Through a Facebook post from Longstreet Farms and The Associated Humane Society of Tinton Falls now I know. Recently a pig named Elmo was rescued from the slaughterhouse in Marlboro. He was sold off when he was no longer needed by the farm. This is not a place I will be bringing my kids to any longer. This is a living history museum. There is no reason for these animals to be bred/sold at any point. This is not a for profit farm. It is a place to learn about historical farming practices. I always thought it was a sanctuary for the animals there. If they cannot care for the animals then they should not be there. Plenty of other ways to teach the community about farms without using live animals for entertainment.

This man is the most unprofessional and aggressive officer I've ever had the misfortune to deal with. I'm in the middle of filling complaints. With his superior and then internal affairs, because we all know it's not going past the howell police department. Back in Sept of 24 I was assaulted and called 911. He was the officer who responded. Alone. And he completely dismissed any and everything I had to say... he accused me of being the aggressor and I most definitely wasn't. But he refused to hear me out. He cussed in my face, called me a lair, threatened MY freedom then the man drove off and left me standing there with the man who just assaulted me. He said "if I have to come back here, YOU'RE going to jail. " so the other 4 times I was assaulted by the SAME person I didn't call. I was scared I was going to be called a lair and arrested. The 5th time I did call 911. I had no choice, it was really bad. AGAIN, officer John took the call. He was incredibly rude and dismissive, he laughed in my face when I told him that the guy said he was going to blow up my car, he refused to give me his badge number... I told him to leave, he scares me and I'd like to speak to a non bias officer. He refused. He wasn't even going to talk to the man who assaulted me. I had Two witnesses that seen it happen. He didn't get their names or birthdays. And again. He left me with the man who tried to kill me. He randomly drives by my house for no reason, I live on a dead end.... one way in. One way out... he asks people if I still live here.. I've repeatedly told this horrible little man to stay away from me but it has become harassment. I turned in a complaint to the judge with my ppo on my ex..(the assulter) I've talked to the deputy chief about his actions over the phone.... yet he still finds a way to use his authority to scare me. I've completely had it with this guy. This started on September of 24 and hasn't stopped. He pulled my friend over in my car thinking she was me... had absolutely no probabal cause... he was just trying to find a reason to arrest me. They asked her for her license. Saw she wasn't me and told her she could leave..... um. Wait. What!? That's abuse of power, harassment and just plain trickery.... that's not ok. Idk what else to do. How do you fight the dirty cops?? I live a bad area. We need to be able to count on and trust our officers of the law. He's the only cop in my 43 years on this planet that makes my skin crawl because I know he's just out to get me. I am a good person. I work hard I'm a single mom of three I pay my taxes and I do my best to stay in my lane. I'm the one who called 911.. I was in fear of my life for months because of him. He is an awful man/cop and gives the good ones a bad name. I will not stop telling my story until it's been heard. I'm sure when he hears about this review he'll be right over here looking for any reason possible to take me in. The man needs to be demoted to the howell police department janitor. He has no business wearing a bage and disgracing the rest of the good officers out there. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I hope others have the guts to stand up against him. The only reason he scares me is the abuse of power he's so good at. That's not a fair fight.
