We called Chimney Sweeps of Sherwood Forest while in the process of renovating our 200-year-old…read morestone cottage near Boonsboro. Our home inspector told us that the fireplace and flue in the living room could never be used again, but when the owner of Sherwood Forest, Javier Rosas, arrived he said that was nonsense. His crew came by and installed a small Regency wood stove insert and a double sided stainless steel flue liner that are still working perfectly after 11 years of service. The system heats the main floor and finished attic and has saved us a lot of money in fuel costs while allowing us to avoid the huge expense of reinstalling a failed central heating system. Plus the insert looks great with the restored paneling, wood beams, and historic decor. Of course we have them come back every fall for inspection and cleaning and have only had to replace some firebrick. The blower that distributes the heat throughout the room still works great. Leaving all this to Javier and his crew was one of the best decisions we made in turning an old wreck of a house into a cozy, comfortable dwelling.
