Mr. Politz helped us deal with our insurance claim, they did an honest report on the condition of the roof which helped with the approval of our claim. They also gave us competitive pricing, in fact about $3k below other quotes we received , they worked neatly, the team arrived on time, very professional, they started my roof at 7:30am and were done by 2:00pm. They inspected the area before and after the roof installation, to keep it the same as it was at the beginning. Cleaned up all nails and scrap. I can't say enough good things about Robert and his team. This is the second time our family has used him and been very pleased with the price, speed, and quality of work. Our house was pretty large with surface area and multiple roofing types due to multiple additions and a two car garage. After getting several quotes, he beat the others by a long shot. And spent extra time to answer my questions and explain all the differences in materials so that I knew exactly what we were getting. Robert was extremely patient developing a plan that was in our budget and would help fix the leaks we were having, customize our gutter solution so we didn't over pay. 2018 has been a very busy year for local roofers. High winds in the spring, constant rain this summer created a lot of work and also delayed the work from being completed on schedule. I signed a contract in early June at a competitive cost estimate from Politz. In late August I received a cancellation notice from Politz with a refund of my deposit. They claimed that my quote was based on a "townhouse" (I have a 1 story rancher). The sales rep for the company visited my house and Politz uses satellite imagery to calculate roof dimensions. How then did my rancher become a townhouse? They requoted my roof at a figure double the original estimate and reduced the amount of work to be done using cheaper materials. Even tried to sell me an $800 upgrade for Diamond Deck underlayment!!!!! It is obvious that they got behind schedule and decided to trim their backlog by dropping lower margin contracts. I have to recommend these guys because they check all the boxes for a contractor. I priced my roof with four companies, they were the cheapest. Robert Politz handles the estimating, final contract and is available to answer any questions when i had them. Someone from their office called me to finalize a schedule and confirm my roof material and color choice. The crew showed up on time, did above and beyond what was contracted, and cleaned up thoroughly after. The final job is perfect. And my roof is not simple. I have a hip roof design with a seperate roof line over the front door, and two additions each with their own roof lines. Many valleys, skylights, different flashings and pitches to every section of roof. They also had to remove two layers. No complaints at all. read more

I had a new roof installed. My roof was in bad condition, had to have a lot of wood replaced. They guys did a good job installing the roof! I had to call back for a minor issue, nothing to do with the roof installation. Mr. Politz immediately called me back. I called his office on the weekend, not expecting a call back until Monday. Mr. Politz was at a family event and still called me back to discuss and to let me know the issue would be resolved right away. He followed up first thing Monday morning which I appreciated. Mr. Politz is responsive, kind and definitely stands behind his work and reputation. He also kept me posted during the process. Tammy is always very helpful as well. We bought a house in desperate need of a new roof. Seeing our predicament, every roof contractor in town offered us a quote. Lots of pushy young guys trying to scare me into immediate, and expensive work. Then along came Ron. He gave me a general quote without requiring a meeting coordinated with my husband, a requirement from another roofer before giving a quote. Ron wasn't pushy and when I asked him to contact me after winter, he did. He gave me a more precise, but equally fair estimate when I added gutters. The team who did the work were on time and did the work quickly and cleanly. They even had a quality assurance guy come by after to check out the team's work. Posting this on behalf of my parents who had Politz replace their roof and siding on their house this past year. The first time the roof was replaced, the team that was sent did a terrible and sub par job. If this is how it would have stayed then this review would be 1 star. However, after contacting the owner, Bob Politz, he made it right by not only replacing the poorly done roof but ensuring that the team he originally sent would not be back. The new roof looks great and as a result my parents contracted Politz to then replace the siding which also looks great. Bob is a terrific owner who took the time to listen to my parents needs and made sure they were happy with the end result. Would highly recommend Politz for your next project. read more

I would not recommend Politz to anyone in the Frederick, MD area. A big telling point for me is how they treat potential customers and I was not treated well at all. The first time I called, I left my information and the receptionist told me that someone would call or email me back to discuss scheduling. That never happened. I called them 3 different times - and the last time the receptionist hung up on me. Very unprofessional. My goal was to have someone come out and replace the gutters on the front of my house and if the work was done well, I would have likely had them do the entire house. I guess Politz is not interested in any new business right now. read more

First the good: Good quality materials. Arrived early. Good price. Now the bad: Broke my gutter. Broke a piece of trim off my house and threw that away but left tons of trash and nails. Someone must have put a foot through my garage ceiling when they replaced a wood panel. They never mentioned it and I didn't notice until much later because it was in an area not visible when my garage door is open. When they were done they just packed up and left. No inspection - as promised. I later received a bill via email and a week later an email threatening to send me to collections for non-payment. My friend and neighbor had a very similar situation when using PE for their roof. I would not recommend using them unless they have the absolutely best price. If you do go with them, do a thorough inspection before making the final payment and get it in writing that they will pay the bill for any repairs from damage caused by their workers. You don't want them trying to make repairs themselves. read more

June of 2018 we filed an insurance claim because a storm completely flooded our laundry room. We went with this company because of the short amount of waiting they had to offer (6 weeks VS. 6 months). It took almost 2 months for the roof to be put on. September 2018 we had just finished remodeling, and putting together our new laundry room ONLY for our laundry room to flood again from the ceiling. The crew came out and fixed the problem AFTER we had just fixed it up and my boyfriend worked for what seemed to be forever, took about 2 weeks to make it look good. Here we are July of 2019 not even a YEAR since the new roof, and "problem leak again" OUR LAUNDRY ROOM LEAKED AGAIN AND OUR KITCHEN! 10pm at night with a bad storm rolling through. I couldn't call until the next morning a 7am. I demanded to speak to the owner, and to have a call back immediately. 2 hrs go by still no call. I called again I was told "your on a call back list" okay? I'll wait. After that, I had no choice but to contact our homeowners insurance for another claim to be open again because the SAME spot was leaking as last time. I called the company back and spoke to a lady named Tammy. She asked for my contract and I was not at home at the time, she said "I'll have to call you back when I pull up your contract....ugh!" And hung up. By this time I had to call my mother in law to help. With me having a toddler and an older child who wants to play I just couldn't do this anymore. My mother in law called the company and (Tammy) told her she had already called me back about my contract. Absolutely NOT true! I was still waiting for my call back from her. Tammy TOLD my mother in law that a crew was coming out around 2:30-3:30pm the same day I called to address what happened (July 23rd, 2019) the crew was here at 1:30pm! Great timing, BUT took that time all the way to 5:45pm. Took some photos, talked to my boyfriend and I. We asked about the damage in our house and the manager I guess of the crew told us to contact Robert the owner. Not once did we hear from him. When I did my review in September 2018, I was bribed to take it down, in a grocery store with my MOM listening to the phone call pretty much begging me to take it down. I was too nice. I picked up over 200 nails out of my yard after having Politz replace my roof. To say I am unhappy with this company would be a HUGE understatement. Customer service is non-existent. We finally had to contact the owner to get the work done after having tiles on my roof for almost a month and hearing nothing from the company about scheduling. Yes, we have had bad weather. Yes, I am sure they were backed up. But to go over 3 weeks without contacting your customer AFTER tiles are on their roof is ridiculous. Looking for a new roof and wondering if you're getting gouged? I was...and when I got my quote from Politz, I was pleasantly surprised, but of course skeptical since he was by far more reasonable than the other local competitors I have both met with and received quotes from (all local to Frederick). Well, fear not....roof is now on, looks great, and there were ZERO surprises! When I voiced my skepticism to them about the pricing, I got the simple answer I expected...the other companies are simply gouging you because of where you are and making up higher prices due to the height and steep angle of the front roof, and they think you can afford it. He was absolutely correct. My price did NOT change, it was by far the best price for the same exact services, shingles, materials and down to the number of nails per shingle. Everything up in one day too! Have no fear...a great roofer is here! Paid AFTER the job was done, so no worry about being ripped off either by some fly-by-night place. I would not recommend this place for anything. A few years ago, I had politz replace a couple of skylights on our sunroom. The price was fair and they were willing to come to Ellicott City to do the work. it took them about a month to actually get here and do the job which was not too much of an issue. The very first rain after they were installed, I had a puddle of water in the sun room. I called them immediately and they sent a couple of guys out and did some caulking which stopped the leak but seemed a less than optimal solution. I also had an issue with the shingles they used. They don't match. I called the company and could not get a call back about the shingles not matching. I emailed the owner, who during the proposal phase was very responsive. However, since this email was a complaint, I never heard back from him. Fast forward to today. A few weeks ago we had some heavy rain which lasted a couple of days over Christmas. Both windows are leaking around the glass. I called the company and got someone who took a message and said they would have someone call me back right away. I am still waiting for that phone call. One star at best. They take the money and run.... read more
