Hubby said he would leave 4 stars because they were able to complete the work on my moms car the same day it was brought in. I am taking off a star because I think we were WAY overcharged. All 4 brakes and rotors changed out. $974. Maybe that's the going rate. My daughter was quoted just over $500 for the same work in the Durham, NC area and everything down here costs more ! I had driven from Nashville to West Virginia when my low tire pressure light came on. I stopped at a gas station and put air in my tires, but the light never went off. I found Monro and stopped in and asked if they could look at my tires as I was afraid to keep driving. They looked at the car for me and told me it just needed to be recalibrated (which they did). I asked how much I owed them, and he told me just to be safe and have a nice day. Being a female (out of town and by myself) it was so nice to find this place that didn't try to rip me off and genuinely just wanted to help. My window regulator motor stoped working in the down position. It went down slow but never came up. I had an appointment for Tuesday the following week at A different auto repair shop but my niece recommended I try Monroe. I made an appointment with Vicki at Monroe for Saturday. She said they could fix the regulator motor for less and sooner. So I gave Monroe Auto the chance to do the work. Saturday I left my SUV with the owner Robert and he said they would contact me when it was ready. They told me it would take an hour and a half. After 4 hours I had not heard anything. So I went there to check on the status of the repair. They did not replace the motor. They said they had ordered the wrong one and they could do the job on Monday or Tuesday. They also told me my window guide track was bent and would now need replacing. My track was not bent when I brought it in to be serviced. When I got into my vehicle they had manually forced my window up. But now the track was bent and there was gaps in the opening around the window. The window was also covered with some black tar and the glass was scratched. There were lose bolts in my cup holder and trash in the back of my SUV. I waited till Tuesday and never heard from them. So I called them. My original appointment with the other shop was for Monday. If I had just went through with the other shop who had estimated higher than Monroe estimated, my window would now be fixed. I got Vicki on the phone again and asked when they were going to do the work? I also told her that they had damaged my window and track. She said she would look into it and call me back. It is now a week later. Monroe never called? All they did was to delay my repair, trash my window and never go through with the repair. This has to be the worst service I have ever received from any mechanic ever. Robert and Vicki. I am still waiting for you to make good on this! MAY 3rd 2022 I responded to the response to my review and called the number given. The customer service rep said they would contact the shop and arrange an appointment. So I called the shop and explained the situation. The shop had no contact from customer service but I gave them my info and they looked me up on their computer and agreed to fix the window for the second time. I spoke with Frank who was running the shop and we set up an appointment. Frank is super cool and hard working FYI. I left my vehicle and Frank called me after a few hours to come get it. When I picked up my SUV. I was told that they switched the motor but there was no power to the window. They did not know why? Frank said they were able to straighten my window out but it would not go all the way up. He said that if I could find a way to run another power source to the window it should work. Frank charged me a small fee, under $80 bucks. I got in the car and the window was open a half inch, the scratches and residue was still on it. Along with a bunch of new oily fingers prints. I respect these guys, I do construction and also work in restaurants. All three trades are bust your butt, work hard and fast situations. I just don't understand why they could not do a simple regular switch out? Even if they had to troubleshoot the electrical? I personally would not fail at a job on someone's home and then leave it all messy. Mind you, I do construction and my car is not sparkling clean. Then again.... It was cleaner before I brought it in, both times! Oh well, I am still dumb founded by my experience with this chain mechanic shop. I should have not listened to my Niece who is not the most together person I know. I should have just went to the other shop. My bad. Well I'm in Clarksburg WV for work and I took my car into Monro muffler, brakes & more, I had called for an appointment to get an oil change and the plugs and wires changed. When I arrived, Ronnie, the manager, told me it was going to be around $335.00 plus my oil change. That didn't sound right but I really didn't know because at home my son takes care of all that stuff. So I Googled it and I ask a few ppl and turns out it was absolutely absurd. So I ask Ronnie about it, he said he had nothing to do with the prices the computer automatically calculates the price. I told him I did not want the work done and he could tell I was extremely upset. He tried to explain that it wasn't him it was the computer, I told him I'd be sure to mention that everytime I tell someone this story. He knows I work on the pipeline and he said he has friends on the pipeline this won't effect him because he takes care of his friends. I told him it was nice that he could afford to do that by screwing women and the elderly and anyone else that was trusting and just didn't know better. He admitted the parts cost them around $60.00 and THE COMPUTER was charging me $225.00 for parts and $110.00 for labor not including the price of the oil change. I don't mind paying for a service, especially a good service, but these ppl are thieves they just don't use a weapon. read more

While driving on the highway on September 19, I ran over a truck's mud flap. I arrived at Monroe's Muffler /Brake Service Center pretty shaken and upset. I knew that the mud flap had caused some damage, but did not know to what extent. Once Ron had the car up on the lift, he spotted a large gash in the tail pipe. He easily welded the hole closed. I am incredibly grateful that I spotted Monroe's from the road as I am not familiar with the area. If it had not been for Ron's fast and affordable work, my vacation would have been ruined. I had an 8am appointment for a brake job, and it was not honored. I dropped my car off at 7:45am, and returned at 4:45pm to find that they had taken every other appointment and walk in after mine and put it ahead of mine. They had not even started the work at nearly 5pm. The store has been going downhill for the last several years but this was the last straw from me. I was assured the work would be done before I left, and it wasn't even started 8 hours later. Mike Devericks and his team were amazing!! Top-notch knowledgeable mechanics and friendly service! They were the heroes on my adventure of car troubles! Shortly into my 6 hour drive home to Cleveland, my serpentine belt blew on I-79. After I managed to get my car to the exit ramp and to a safe place, I called Monroe and talked to Mike on the phone. Even though it was later in the day, he said he would take a look at it, hopeful we could replace the belt before closing time and get me back on the road home! Soon after I arrived, mechanic Ron Campbell checked out the issues and quickly discovered the source of my problem to be the ac compressor, too. The guys were quick to start on it the next day, and I could rest assured the work was thorough and done right! They had me back on the road soon, and made me feel at home while I waited. Made appointment on line to fix flat tire damaged in a pothole mishap while visiting the area on Sunday when nothing else was open. Saw me right on schedule in spite of a waiting room of customers and lot full of cars in progress. Rotated tires so that spare was shifted to back while I ordered a new tire. Found a safety problem that was missed by a mechanic who installed the donut spare. Pointed out a leak in power steering line which explained low fluid level that I experienced. Will likely be back if I need service in the area. read more

I needed an alignment done on my car & was staying at the Days Inn right next to Monro so I decided to use them out of convenience. I explained to them that I needed the alignment due to someone running over a pipe with my car and knocking it out of alignment. I think that by me telling them why I needed the alignment they saw me coming from a mile away. They called and told me I needed new ball joints. For the ball joints and the alignment it would cost me $678!!! I told them I'd use my regular mechanic for that. So my regular mechanic calls me while he has my car & tells me there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with my ball joints and if there had been something wrong with them then Sears Auto would've noticed it when I took it to them for an alignment & was told I needed a wheel bearing (which was correct & my personal mechanic changed it for me). He said it would've been one of the first things Sears noticed. So I decided instead of taking it back to Monro, like I had planned on since they were $20 cheaper than Sears, I'd just go ahead & take it back to Sears. I explained to Sears what had happened with being told I needed ball joints. They said whenever they do an alignment they check three things in this order...ball joints, tie rod ends, wheel bearings. They went ahead and had the mechanic check the ball joints again and I was told for the third time by THREE different mechanics that my ball joints were FINE. So three out of four mechanics said they were fine and one, Monro, said they were bad. I honestly think they were trying to get $678 out of me! I will NEVER use them again! read more

Called them because they were one of the few that was open on Sunday. I am used to paying $380 a piece for my toyo 35's so when the guy told me he could get them for $269 I said you have got to be talking about another tire. I called the exact tire out again and he said yep that's the one! I said great I will be there Sunday to have them put on because I'm over an hour away. Asked him one more time to be sure it was the right tire he assured me that he was a tire salesman and knew what tire he was selling so I made the trip up Sunday and he met me outside knowing who I was already and said there was a misunderstanding from the shipping company and they sent the wrong tire and to get the right tire it would now be $360 per tire and they would be there on Monday now. I kept my cool but already knew he didn't know what he was doing and I needed the tires and $360 was still $20 a tire cheaper with mount and balance which I asked him if that was for everything including mount balance tax ? He said oh yeah that's everything because of the mistake. I stated that I would be back when possible. So Monday I was rained out of work and called to make sure the tires were there he said yes come on and we will get you right in. I went and when I got there a new guy came to the counter and I asked for the guy I had been talking to. He said he was busy so he started ringing everything up. I said the guy told me $360 a tire. He said I will go ask him. He came back and said yeah he is discounting them to $369 a tire. I said he told me $360 but I need the tires so if that's the total cost I will go ahead and get them. He said well there is tax and mounting and they will be $397 per tire. So now we are $20 a tire more than I am used to paying. I said whatever I need the tires because I'm getting laid off and needing tires before I travel home. I told him I was going next door to eat and gave him my keys. Went next door and killed about 40 min. Came back and my truck had not been moved. Sat patiently for another 40 min then called another tire shop " C Adam Toney" in Summersville and he was $40 a tire cheaper. One of the main guys is nice may be the manager, didn't look like he was doing any actual car work and wasn't wearing a garage shirt but he was fine unfortunately he can't deal with every customer, I was handed off to some guy who had horrible customer service tried to overcharge especially for work I didn't ask for. He then kept telling me to "just sign it" when I was trying to read what I was signing for the bill. Miserable to have to wait for your car as well very dirty people were smoking in the garage inside cars they were working on (you can see into the garage from the waiting room). You have to tell them exactly what to do and what not to do and I suggest you record the conversation because you will come in for a 15 dollar oil change and leave with a 90 dollar bill of all the extra stuff they decided to take the liberty to do and charge you for. Unless your car breaks down directly in front of their shop DO NOT GO HERE. read more
