Having owned a similar business myself years ago, I normally avoid these places because the expertise of the people working at chain stores can vary so much. I came here out of necessity yesterday, and got TOP NOTCH service. The manager got me right in and was eager to help me out, and then the tech (his name was Steve) did an awesome job fixing a unique exhaust repair, both a great effort and an experienced professional welder. I don't live in the area, but if you do, I highly recommend this particular Monro shop if you need work done. During my over two hour wait for a simple oil change and inspection, the store manager provided a can of beer to a noticeably frazzled customer that just confessed they had another five hours hauling a FORTY FOOT CAMPER with "brake issues". When finally asked what the hold up was with my vehicle I was told they are unable to locate an oil filter. I would have been ok with a simple explanation / apology and rescheduled the oil change when I returned an hour and fifteen minutes earlier. Instead I was left sitting in the waiting area without explanation for another hour and when confronted I was then berated, harassed and charged for services that were not performed simply because someone dropped my oil and did not call around for an oil filter until after their primary parts supplier closed on Saturday (an hour after my arrival). When asked why my oil was dropped without a filter present, the individual in charge became enraged and proceeded to swear/spit/yell and tell me they are going to put the old oil filter back on and charge me for the entire oil change including the oil filter that was never replaced. While being told to bring my vehicle in "right away" only to have over two hours of my time wasted was a drag, of greater concern is the inherent danger of serving alcohol to a customer that is admittedly hauling a forty foot camper with brake issues for another 200+ miles. Lastly, and without provocation lewd references were made about my wife during one of the outbursts. This individual's actions today justify their prompt and immediate termination. I would like to believe that their lack of integrity and poor judgment are not characteristics Monro Muffler is looking for in a store manager. Will post updates.... read more

I had been going to Monroe Auto in Waterloo NY for several years but I will never go back. They messed up a simple oil change on my 2022 vehicle. They did not tighten the cap and caused oil to spill all over my engine. When I took it back in, they were rude and spiteful. They ended up tightening the drain plug so hard that at my next oil change at a new place, they had to use pliers to remove the drain plug which ended up ruining the plug and pan. Needless to say, I ended up paying a lot more than a simple oil change. Do not take your car to Monroe Auto in Waterloo NY especially if Fran is still working there! read more

Broken parts!! AVOID! This place is trash along with the shop manager! I went in for an oil change left with a broken headlight.. they denied denied denied.. refused to show me security videos.. while my car was getting an oil change. I was waiting in the lounge when the mechanics came in to show the shop manager what they broke on another car.. sloppy work.. they broke a very inexpensive part on my car.. the point is they should of fixed it!! No matter the price. This place clearly doesn't do the right thing. They don't right there wrongs. I was so emotional devastated for weeks over this.. I trusted Monroe with my vehicle.. that was my first mistake.. don't be like me. Don't take your vehicle here and if for some reason you have to go here! On August 18th 2022 I had my vehicle towed into Monroe muffler and brake at Waterloo. On the morning of August 19th 2022 I called to let them know what was going on with vehicle that were stopped by road work it started missing check engine light came on when it was time for us to go through the road work I had no acceleration that reduced power was flashing on the computer and that other things had shut down. I also let them know I had an extended warranty policy and if it didn't cover it to let me know how much it was going to cost. The person I was talking to ask me if the paperwork for the extended warranty was in it I told him no but that I would be up later that day to drop it off which I did do. On August 27th I called to see what was going on with my vehicle I was told by the person talking to me that it appears that warranty was going to cover the repairs but they didn't have any way to read the codes. I told them that I had to come up to Walmart anyway that I would bring up my scanner I figured they didn't want to push Cadillac Escalade in to push it back out again. So I went up gave them the codes which there were four of them told the manager again what had happened that it started messing check engine light came on want to take off had nothing but idle and that it started flashing reduced power on the computer screen. I also asked the manager how long before they would be taking a look at it he proceeded to get on the phone and start pricing parts and then about four more people walked in I told him I would call him in the morning to find out what is going on. The next morning I called to be told that my vehicle's fixed and it's ready to go and that warranty didn't cover the repairs at this point I didn't say anything. Went up to get my vehicle made us pay before we got our keys charged us for a throttle body that was 200% over retail went out and tried to start my vehicle which it started check engine light was still on and it was still missing like a nightmare. I proceeded to go back inside and tell manager that it was not fixed that the check engine light was on and thet it was still missing he said well yeah that's the misfiring causing it. I came home and proceeded to call customer service at Monroe corporate to have a lady yell at me tell me to hold on she wanted to talk to Monroe Waterloo got back on and told me that I had to pay for a part that they put on even though they weren't authorized to put on that my vehicle. I had my vehicle towed up to general motors dealership in Waterloo which I'm now waiting to hear from them. I called back again the next morning to hopefully get somebody different through customer service and let them know what's going on I got the same woman which I proceeded to tell that I would be filing a VS 35 with DMV and that I would be disputing it with my credit card company. She told me to do what I got to do. Can't believe this is going on been using Monroe for roughly 10 years I've had one other problem that when they listened they admitted they were wrong and refunded. The worst part is if he'd read through all the codes there's one code on it that general motors even put out a service bulletin to start with. that code when you have all four in the service report it says seldom is it a bad part it is usually a bad connection to start with that before replacing anything. Right now I'm waiting to hear from DMV credit card company has disputed it and I am proceeding to put this onto every review site I can find read more

Great service. The power stirring pump went after they put it in two months ago and they replaced it. Only here for a little over an hour. You learn more about a business when something goes wrong. They were great the first visit, too. I recommend here to anybody. read more

The staff here is very friendly and knowledgable. I really appreciated how great everyone was and how willing they were to discuss my car's issue and show me the fix. BEWARE! MONRO does NOT honor their warranty! My son bought two new tires here on 7/20/15. The tires have failed after 8000 miles. They won't pass inspection. When he purchased the tires they had a 40,000 mile warranty on them. And he bought road hazard insurance on the tires. When he returned today 5/27/16 to get them replaced the employees at Shop 388 initiated a series of untruths. First they said the tires were "recalled" so they won't replace them. They were not recalled. When informed of that they then said "well, we don't carry them anymore". Then they informed us that the manager, Jason Haire, was fired. (there was no mileage noted on the original invoice and this was what they said the manager was fired for - his name is on the invoice) Then they proceeded a hard sell of new tires based on pro-rated wear. Basically pushing another set of lousy tires at full price. All this was done by some guy named Vince behind the counter and his "Market 1 Manager" on the phone. We asked for the manager's name and they gave us the main customer service number. When we called there was no such thing as a market 1 manager, but Monro customer service did take the information down, invoice number etc and is now contacting district managers etc. Have not heard back yet. In the meantime avoid this place like the plague. They are not upfront about anything. Very similar to other Monro reviews on here it seems. Ironically, their website has a saying displayed on it... "Honoring Warranties For Over 50 Years!".... Really? They have no idea what the word "honoring" means it seems. UPDATE. Customer service never called us back. So we called THEM this morning. The information was giving to a "district manager" and they informed us that they DID offer us an upgrade because the tires were discontinued. The "upgrade" is the cost of new tires. Wow. some "upgrade". I told them that we will just take them to small claims court and they were actually happy with that. We will win in small claims because they we never show up. This practice reading through Yelp and other reviews is common with Monro. They DO NOT honor the warranty they try and sell you. read more

Great Service if you are willing to wait a bit. I went yesterday for an oil change and asked them to see if they could fix a rattle in the muffler that had been changed at another garage a few months ago. In addition, they took it upon themselves to adjust my alternator belt that had been making a terrible screech. They did the work to my satisfaction and only ended up charging me for the oil change (with a coupon, I might add). It took a little while with the muffler issue, but I was able to run errands so it wasn't a problem. Outstanding service. This is why I come from New Jersey (when visiting my family) to have my oil changed here. This is how you get and maintain faithful customers. Bravo. read more

The service is absolutely outstanding. My 2008 Honda Civic overheated on the NY State Thruway on the way to Buffalo around 4pm on a Saturday. They checked it first thing Sunday morning and found a crack in my engine block in which the coolant leaked out. The mechanic even informed me about Honda extending the warranty on the engine to 10 years for this problem. I had the car towed to the nearest Honda to have the engine replaced. Monro Muffler did not even charge me anything for their work. They are honest, very competent, open 7 days a week, and just real nice people. Can you ask for anything more than this. read more

I was camping at Sampson State Park when our Honda Element wouldn't start. Being from out of town, I had no idea where to go on a Saturday afternoon. The AAA tow truck driver suggested calling this Monro location. I was assured that they would be able to take care of me that day. They did have the parts and stayed past the stated closing time to get me back on the road. And this wasn't just for me. I don't get this kind of service here in the DC metro area. read more

heads up about Waterloo Monroe Muffler / Brake at 2444 State road 414 shop # 388 on December 2nd I dropped off my car to have the drivers side exhaust manifold replaced and when they put it on their lift they damaged my car ! they sprung the drivers side fender , so when I open the drivers side door it hits the fender and makes a very loud noise and scrapes off the paint on the door and fender where it hits. I showed the shop manager ( DON ) and he completely denies any damage. like I would not know what the car was like when I dropped it off. I even had photos of the car when I dropped it off when I asked him what they would be willing to do about the damage he coped a very bad attitude with me ! he was very nasty and also said I will not do anything so go ahead and file a claim with the corporate office. the joke is on him because I did as soon as I got home and I also filed a complaint against the shop with the ( BBB ) and also considering complaining to the DMV about this incident . this is a Monroe muffler brake shop to avoid at all costs ! read more

I just want to cry! This place! I am an idiot for thinking that with the constant staff turn over, these guys might get in a decent technician or two. I go in for an oil change and an engine light diagnosis. $1,400 later I walk out with a brand new exhaust system and an oil change, car still sounds like it has a gaping hole in the muffler and vibrates so bad on acceleration that when I speak it sounds like I'm talking into a fan. This morning, 3 days later, the check engine light is back on. I am sick about this, I cannot afford this shit. I should have taken my $1,400 and put it down on a new car, or to a mechanic that isn't in the business of ripping people off. If this wasn't the first time I have been through this sort of thing with this company I wouldn't be so upset, but both of my cars have been messed up by this company. So now I am left with a car that is NOT fixed and no money left to fix it. Thanks Monro for not even test driving the freaking thing to see what was wrong with it or if it was even fixed. If you DID test drive it, then it is time for some more staff turn over! read more

The staff here are amazing, I highly recommend them. recommend them. We are from Boston and were in town vacationing with friends. When we went to trek back to Boston, we realized our front left tire was flat. We had AAA come and take a look at it and tell us the new tires we just got put on our car were put on pretty terribly which led to the tire to leak (no puncture). Triple A recommended Monro Muffler, so we headed over there. Even though it was a Sunday afternoon and they were clearly very busy, they took our tire and made sure there was indeed no puncture, then blew it back up and put it on our car in less than an hour's time and didn't charge us! A nightmare situation of potentially being stranded turned into a quick fix - it was a very pleasant experience thanks to the nice and super professional staff an Monro Muffler. They even encouraged us to call if we had issues after we left.They went above any beyond. We can't thank them enough! read more
