I attended from fall of 2006 to summer of 2009.
I was in House E from 6th-8th grade.
I believe that most of my teachers were good teachers. The majority of the staff was respectful and caring towards the students.
I liked the school just not the great majority of the students.
In 7th grade I had a problem exiting on the back of the campus, just across the street on Landis. This kid pushed me several times with his bike and told me to bend over and also called me a female dog. Incident was resolved with Officer K at the time. I made a report and I think there was a restraining order. The day after the incident my counselor called me in and she had the audacity to ask me if I thought the act the boy did was "kinky". I didn't even know what the word meant at the time, but my gut let me know what she meant. Kids can definitely be cruel and it is the teachers and staffs job to regulate, by no means do I mean physically. I mean that they need to make sure kids follow the rules and regulations of the school. If the kids are having trouble following them, then it is not the teachers/staffs fault. Learning proper manners starts at home. Because in all honesty that was not my first encounter with assault/harrasment/bullying at this school. I had a bully from 6th to 7th grade. A female classmate. And I also recall that in 8th grade some kid that I had seen years prior, that was in my same class(promoting/graduating class) and had also gone to the same elementary school as I did, just came up to me and pulled my hair. That time I reacted and I socked him. Yet I still went through another humiliating experience with other 8th graders that same year. In a classroom setting. Luckily the teacher I had at the moment fixed the problem right away. The school is a great school but the kids, at least the greater amount of them, are not. I understand it may not be their fault because they spend their days alone, unsupervised. Without someone to teach them how to act. I say this because this is a low income neighborhood. And I've also known that a lot of the families here are broken families, single parent families.
I also had a lot of fun with the friends I made at this middle school. Really only keep in touch with one friend of all the ones I had and made here. I'm more than happy with that.
Anyway, something needs to be done about these kids. For you parents out there reading this I hope you take have read this far and take this school into consideration. Prepare your kids well to do good and great things.
Oh btw, the lunch here wasn't so bad from fall 06 to summer 07 but after that it really went down hill. In 7th grade there was a nail in a pizza a got for lunch. So if you're sending your kid here get to work cause you're probably gonna need to send them with a lunch or give them some money. Or just let them go hungry till dinner. Cause who are we kidding how many parents wake up really early to make some breakfast for their teenagers.
