Review used and entered on Jan. 29, 2026: One hell of a way…read moreto treat a loyal patient of more than a decade!!! On Jan. 9, 2026, because I was uncomfortable giving them the security code for my new credit card, Dr. Jill Kern (periodontist and acting office manager) refused to discuss the issue with me. She immediately became very nasty and aggressive, saying that they don't want me as a patient any longer, and that I should leave their office. I had arrived early for a 11:30 appointment with Dr. Bruce Kern, who has always been my periodontist. We've always had a very pleasant rapport. I refused to leave and said that I have an appointment. Jill threatened to call the police. I wanted to speak to Bruce before leaving. He refused to speak to me. As I said, "One hell of a way to treat a loyal patient". Note that the security code should only be used for remote transactions, when you have to prove that you actually have the credit card. That security code should never be kept on file, in permanent storage. Doing so totally defeats its purpose. In Kern's office, they keep a permanent record of your credit card number, the expiration date, and the security code. I have always had Cigna dental insurance, always paid in full my co-payments and any deductible amounts before leaving after a visit. I couldn't even get a response when I asked if paying in full by check or even cash, would they still insist on recording the security code for an unused credit card. I can't understand their blatant disregard for my concern. I would have patiently and respectfully listened to their point of view, but that wasn't part of Jill's temperament. Unfortunately, I am not the only one to write a negative review. Upon returning home, I called three of my credit card companies (Visa, etc.) and they all confirmed that my concern is well founded. I was informed that asking for the security code for in-person transactions is a violation of the agreement that businesses sign with these major financial institutions.

I was sent to Dr. Figueroa by my dentist at Princeton…read more The problem was - a cracked tooth that needed extraction and implant placement thereafter. Upper left. I read all about implants and when I saw the doctor and spoke to him, he knew every single bit of information I was prepared to ask about. A smart gentlemen! He gave comprehensive and detailed information, no BS, just substance. Extraction was a breeze. Started with no-pain anesthesia (Raul is using a cool technique to make sure you don't feel pain from the needle). Tooth was out in no time. Bone graft in place. Stitches were placed so quickly I did not have time to notice (confident stitches are a sign of a very skilled surgeon). Healing was pain free. I did not use any pain meds and all pain was gone by day 3. Bone graft was installed perfectly and tooth was ready for implant in 3 months. Next, the implant. 3D scan, surgery on the same day, did not use pain meds at home, was pain-free after about 3 days. A week after placing the implant I felt my mouth free from any hints I had surgery. I am very impressed. Dr. Figueroa is a thinking surgeon with outstanding hands. A.K. PS I just saw he won "best in New Jersey" award, what else can I add.

Tooth #31 was quite the little troublemaker, as it had deep roots and was positioned near my gum line, leaving many oral surgeons hesitant to take it on. Determined to find someone who could help, I came across Leading Edge Periodontics on Hylan Blvd. After checking out their wonderful reviews, I decided to give them a call, and to my delight, they were able to fit me in just a few days later. I have to say, the positive feedback I read really lived up to its reputation! When I arrived at the office, I was greeted by a spacious parking lot, which made everything easy and convenient. The ADA-compliant ramp was a nice touch, showing that they care about making their office accessible for everyone. As soon as I stepped inside, I felt at ease--the office was spotless and beautifully designed, creating a welcoming atmosphere right from the start. The front desk staff were super friendly and could tell I was in a bit of pain. A lovely young lady took my information with genuine kindness, making sure I felt comfortable as I filled out the necessary paperwork. Within moments, I was led into the examination room and put on a dental bib, ready for what was next. Once my X-rays were sent over from another office, Dr. Peto came in with a warm smile. His calm and approachable demeanor really helped to put me at ease during what could have been a stressful experience. He carefully examined my tooth and explained that the filling I had received a few weeks prior wasn't done well. With care and clarity, he walked me through the extraction process so I knew exactly what to expect. He numbed the area with a few injections of Lidocaine, which he administered quickly and effectively. Then, the Nitrous Oxide helped me relax even more, which was a great bonus! In no time--less than ten minutes, actually--Dr. Peto had successfully extracted my tooth. I was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly everything went, and he was able to do it without making any major cuts into my gums. Afterward, he carefully stitched up the socket and sent me home with prescriptions for antibiotics and pain relief. Plus, I received a thoughtful aftercare package with everything I needed to help me heal comfortably! Every single person at Leading Edge Periodontics was absolutely wonderful. From the receptionists to the dental assistants, their friendly and caring attitudes made all the difference. I experienced hardly any bleeding during my recovery, and at my follow-up appointment a week later, I was thrilled to learn that my socket was healing beautifully. They encouraged me to get in touch if I had any questions or concerns, which made me feel supported even after I left. Overall, I wholeheartedly recommend Leading Edge Periodontics to anyone in need of dental care. Their friendly and professional team turned what could have been a daunting experience into a really positive one. I'm so grateful for their excellent service and the care I received throughout the entire process!

And Dr. Z ensures that you know what to do for proper aftercare, leaving nothing to nothing to chance. His post-procedure call to check up on me that evening was the icing on the that cake. This won't be the first rave review I've written about Dr. Zatzkin and his office--just the latest since I began my long journey to better gum health well over a decade back, including implants, a first gum graft and pinhole gum surgery he's qualified to perform, which was both successful and virtually a cakewalk thanks to his mastery of the procedure. Hey, it's not an exciting topic, but I think of Dr. Z's expertise and good nature as symbolic of something grander in terms of my having complete confidence in his skills in a world where most of us find our confidence in services severely lagging. To say it best, I'll echo a letter I read in his office from another loyal, satisfied patient, which says, "Thank you for making my gum repairs enjoyable." Yes, the words "gum repairs" and "enjoyable" may sound oxymoronic, but between the terrific, helpful staff--five stars to all, the above-mentioned Quaneesha; Dana, my fave hygienist; Rachel, who got my insurance info processed and approved (hallelujah!); and Krystal at the front desk, whose calm, helpful presence is so welcome-- and the doctor's firm handshake and warm smile whenever I visit, it's the single most enjoyable gum-repair experience from Timbuktu to Portland, Maine--or Portland, Oregon, for that matter! Trust is a rare commodity nowadays--and I trust Dr. Z.
