We went here on a random Wednesday afternoon so we basically had the orchard to ourselves. The first parking lot you see is for their store, you have to keep driving up for the u-pick orchard. There you check in to pay your admission fee, get your wristband, and get your apple picking bag(s). They give you a map where the ripe apples are highlighted for you. My favorite apples were the honeycrisp and snap dragons. They grow vegetables too but honestly we didn't explore the orchard that much (it was huge) so the only other thing I picked besides apples was a tomato, which I felt like was pretty difficult to find a good one. I handed out the apples to other friends and colleagues and they all liked them! There's something different about picking the apple straight off the tree than the apples you would normally just buy at a grocery store. It's a lot crispier when you pick them yourself! The store has apple cider doughnuts! Now being that I am a Californian where we don't have this apple picking culture, I was wondering what all the hype around apple cider doughnuts was about. NOW I GET IT they're so good! Unfortunately since we went on a weekday the doughnuts weren't fresh (they make them fresh on the weekends) so some of them were stale, but most were still good. It's honestly more of a cake than a doughnut, but so good! The doughnuts are self serve towards the back. The store also had a cat on the prowl haha We ended up not even having time to visit the petting zoo, but overall I think my colleagues had a good time here and I would recommend this orchard for anyone trying to have a no frills apple picking experience. I believe there was like a building restroom closer to the store and port o potties closer to the u-pick orchard.

However, Tuxedo Farmer's Market did NOT look to be following any social distancing rules when I last visited and we left without buying anything when we saw about 15 people crammed into the food area trying to form a line while others tried to shop around them. It's very unfortunate and while I recommend the glass bottle milk here (especially the chocolate if you want a treat), I would not recommend going here at the moment if you want to err on the safe side.

I saw for myself a group of workers gather around a car and yell at the top of their lungs at a man who didn't live in a tuxedo and spoke little English, who simply got lost. Their location was at a public transportation parking lot, with no visible signs saying no entry. You would think that they would be used to a confused person every now and then. Common decency and consideration for others shouldn't be lost, especially when it comes to a farmers market that caters to the public. With their elderly age, they should have simply known better that at 8 in the morning there is a manner in which you speak to other people. It was a pathetic show of behavior to gather around a man's car and yell at him, and then proceed to yell louder when you see he's panicked. Especially to behave this way in front of people gathered at their train stop early in the morning who didn't deserve to overhear that.

It's already amazing as it is and I can't wait to see what's coming next! I hear about farm dinners and food trucks and just being out in the fields. Can't wait to see this place evolve and flourish. For now, you get to have a little taste of their farm with all local produce, flowers, herbs and lots more handpicked right from their farm. Merry was so kind and helpful when it came to explaining the different peppers they have, their local produce even their really cool Greek basil. The best part is EVERYTHING is organically grown and pesticide free. What else could you possibly want! Oh yeah, if you want to become a member you TOTALY can. As a CSA member, you have the chance to not only support the local farmers but you will receive a farm fresh basket of seasonal vegetables EVERY week for 10 weeks. This is definitely a great deal if you don't live too far like myself! Every spring they have a plant sale and at the moment they still had some plants available for the late planters such as tomatoes, basil, peppers and some others of that kind. You can take a plant home right there and grow in a pot or put straight in the ground. Seeds are also available! Love their concept and what they do. The best part is being able to support local especially during these times. They're taking all types of safety precautions and have gloves available for you to pick your own produce and bag it yourself. Pricing is VERY reasonable. You can even take home your favorite piece of pottery, done all locally.
