It's already amazing as it is and I can't wait to see what's coming next! I hear about farm dinners and food trucks and just being out in the fields. Can't wait to see this place evolve and flourish. For now, you get to have a little taste of their farm with all local produce, flowers, herbs and lots more handpicked right from their farm. Merry was so kind and helpful when it came to explaining the different peppers they have, their local produce even their really cool Greek basil. The best part is EVERYTHING is organically grown and pesticide free. What else could you possibly want! Oh yeah, if you want to become a member you TOTALY can. As a CSA member, you have the chance to not only support the local farmers but you will receive a farm fresh basket of seasonal vegetables EVERY week for 10 weeks. This is definitely a great deal if you don't live too far like myself! Every spring they have a plant sale and at the moment they still had some plants available for the late planters such as tomatoes, basil, peppers and some others of that kind. You can take a plant home right there and grow in a pot or put straight in the ground. Seeds are also available! Love their concept and what they do. The best part is being able to support local especially during these times. They're taking all types of safety precautions and have gloves available for you to pick your own produce and bag it yourself. Pricing is VERY reasonable. You can even take home your favorite piece of pottery, done all locally.

First and foremost, someone needs to be on their payroll (or they at least need to get a dedicated volunteer for this purpose) that helps to find them grants to make their members happy. It's shared by the community (the CS in CSA), but keeping the paying members happy needs to be made a top priority. I'm not bitchin' about the weekly yield, because they don't control that. I'm bitchin' about how they dealt with members after the hurricane. Now, they were royally dumped on because they experienced catastrophic devastation, but since the farm is located in a county that was not declared a federal disaster county, they were not eligible for emergency aid from the federal government. They were able to secure funding to purchase some top soil, but they did not really keep members informed of the process as regularly as they should have (I think I received about 3 emails in a four week time period, and I did receive a phone call from the darling Sam who was literally working probably up until she actually gave birth. She is one heckuva saving grace for that place!!). Because of the damage, they suspended distribution all together for 4 weeks.... and when they resumed it, it was as if it was business as usual. Not even a "thanks for being patient" or "as a token of our appreciation for sticking with us, please take $25 off the cost of being a member next year, which by the way is going up $50 bucks!". I actually missed a couple weeks of distribution because there were no calls made that it resumed (they called me to tell me it had stopped....why couldn't they call me to come back?) I really wanted to make this work, and tried to make believers out of my family who doubted its value throughout the summer when the yields were small, but I'm not coming back next year. I hope they get a better board of directors because I think those knuckleheads are why the bad decisions are being made.

Better to shop at the outdoor farmer's markets directly from the farms, better prices. This place might be good in the winter, when choices are less. But READ, don't think all is organic - everything is mixed together with NO clear signage.

My favorite thing about the CSA is the u-pick! I fill my house with flowers all summer. My children attended the summer camp for a few years and LOVED LOVED LOVED it. They are too old to attend now but still love coming to the farm to help me pick vegetables! I feel so lucky that my kids love vegetables. I'm trying to think of something "negative" to say about the farm and can't think of anything. I mean they even donate lots of vegetables to low income families! How can you go wrong?
