Instead, I found Yellow Cab on Yelp and took a chance. The driver answered my phone call right away, picked me up, and didn't mind stopping by a bank to pick up cash for the fare. I needed him to pick me up a second time at 4:30am in the morning and drop me off at EWR. He confirmed the night before via phone, and also arrived right on time. I stupidly forgot my wallet and we were 75% of the way there. So embarrassing! But he turned around with no complaint and got me back to the airport in time for my flight. My wife was at work, so I couldn't ask her to remind me. I called MetroPark on April 3rd for a pickup on April 4th and spoke to 'Sid'. He seemed like a nice enough guy although he couldn't seem to either hear or understand what I was saying part of the time. He told me what the price would be for the pickup at our home and for the return trip, I gave him my credit card info and email and he said I would be receiving an email or text confirmation. By the morning of April 4th, I had still not received any confirmation but what I did receive was an almost $400 charge on my card from them. The agreed upon price I got on the phone was $120 each way. I called the main number back at 8:10 am on April 4th, got a different person, told them I had not received confirmation and asked why I was charged so much extra. He was rude and condescending, said it was sent and that I should check my spam email (which I had already done prior to calling), told me the extra fees were for gratuities and other expenses and added that I shouldn't book them if I can't afford it. Keep in mind that this comment comes from a semi-literate working at a taxi stand. Needless to say, I emphatically told him to cancel the service and hoped this would be the end of it. I then called my bank to give them the heads up about these charges as I would be out of the country for over a week. They explained that the charges were still pending, but I at least wanted it to be on record that I contacted them immediately. As I write this on April 13th, the charges were still on my card, so I filed a fraud complaint with my bank and the charges will be taken off. Also, we went with the car service we had previously used and they were honest, charged less, had a clean, new car and were top notch. Even our driver was a pleasure. To summarize, it is much easier to be an honest company who treats their clients with respect and good service than a vampiric parasite who tries to cheat honest people out of their money. You are only hurting yourselves in the long run through loss of business and reputation. MetroPark, are a few extra ill-gotten bucks really worth it?

This guy was ridiculous. He picked my mother, me and my 6 year old up to get a flight out of…read moreNewark. We would have been there in 45 minutes IF he picked the right way. Fine that he went in the truck/car lanes BUT 13A was backed up with trucks going to Jersey City... he just sat behind the trucks not moving for an hour and a half. He had a Garmin that did not update him with traffic. We asked him if he should take another route because at this point we were going to miss our flight. I also had to pee. He continued to sit behind the trucks. In Jersey we usually cut into lanes if we are going to be late which he did not do. The car lane was moving right along. As we waited an hour I asked how much longer and he said a half hour... well I decided to see what my maps would say and it was saying we wouldn't get there for 24 minutes, then 27 minutes then 37 minutes!!! The more it went up the more upset I got. I said maybe we should have gone in the car lane and he flipped out on me. "It's just Tuesday morning traffic!!!".... "What you have anxiety?! Take a pill!"... he also said that "I know you have to go to the bathroom but most people can hold it.".... Buddy, I could have been fine if we didn't sit in traffic for an hour and a half!!! I increasingly got more mad... and told him that we will not take him coming back... he said he didn't need our money and he would drop us off on the side of the turnpike if I kept on going on- and I didn't doubt he would leave us on the side with my 74 year old mother and my child. We were THREE miles away from the airport and he didn't care that we were going to miss our flight!!! He also was letting every car and truck in front of him and when I said something about that, he said "so u want me to take them out of the car and start punching them?!"...
