First of all, this facility has a serious rat problem. I had whole boxes of items ruined- shredded,…read morechewed, and covered in rat poop- and everything I salvaged had to be washed. I had to throw out kitchen utensils, important paperwork, keepsakes, and (most impressively) an entire plastic tote of clothes, tightly covered with a secure-fit, snap-on lid... which the rats apparently chewed through in order to destroy the clothes within. The items were clean, so I assume they liked the scent of the detergent? I then remembered that the facility had provided me with (and charged me for) insurance- and subsequently realized that this [required] insurance does not cover damage from rats, water, or fire. I don't think it covers theft, either... so I'm not sure what it's actually meant to insure against, as those really seem like all the possible disasters that could happen at a storage unit. When I emptied my unit and went to cancel it, I was annoyed to find that, per their policy, I had to cancel two weeks ahead of my scheduled payment date or pay for an additional month. Okay, that was my fault for not being aware of the policy, so I paid for the extra month after I cancelled. And then, somehow, another month's rent plus late fees, were withdrawn from my bank account. I got a letter threatening to put a lien on my (now empty and lockless) unit. In total, over $250 in rent, penalties, and fees was charged to my account... for a single month, for a unit I had cancelled more than 30 days before: This month, I got a payment reminder. I replied and explained the situation, but although I did receive a response, nothing has been resolved. I have had to lock my bank account in an attempt to stop Lock N Key from charging me 4 times their regular monthly rate, for a month, for an empty, lock-free storage unit that I cancelled 3 months ago, I may have to actually cancel my card. Meanwhile, I've been overcharged by well over $600 in total... so far. It's beyond ridiculous. Between the rats, the fees, and this facility's refusal to address payment issues, choosing Lock N Key has cost me a huge amount of time, stress, and money, as well as a number of personal items which were destroyed and cannot be replaced. I have had storage units all over South Carolina, including a couple others in and around Aiken, and I can honestly say that Lock N Key is hands-down, no contest, the absolute worst I have ever used. Pick literally anywhere else.

Wheeler Road Self Storage located on Wheeler Road is a great storage facility with an extremely…read morefriendly and efficient site manager. My husband called ahead when we were moving our belongings and spoke to the site manager and she assured him that we would have a storage unit when we arrived. When I arrived to Wheeler Road Self Storage after a long day of moving and a very long drive, the site manager graciously took care of me and squared me away with a unit that was exactly appropriate for what we had to store. The process was very quick and pleasant and the terms were clearly explained such as rental insurance, fees, etc. There are great features at this facility but the one that I appreciate the most is the on-site security. There are cameras throughout as well as the gated access requiring your passcode to gain access to the part where the storage units are located. Another feature if you need it is the air conditioned unit option. If you want a storage unit where you can feel safe and have your belongings there without much worry, then you should strongly consider these folks here! There are several locations throughout Augusta, just search and see what is more convenient for you!

Problem being, I was trying to coordinate everything from California. Rachel at Go Mini's was very helpful and suggested the right size unit, and had it delivered and then moved to a different site once the house sold until I could make it back there to empty it out. All this was right in the middle of the Covid lockdown. I never had a problem! They were very prompt, affordable and the unit was dry and bug free, no damage at all. I would not hesitate to recommend them.

I could not get into the gate today. I had to call 3 times. The first time I was put on hold, when…read morethe lady got back to the phone, she put it on mute where I couldn't hear her. I called back and was told I would get a call in a few minutes as the "temporary code " also didn't work. Never got a call back. I call again and the woman was rude and wrong trying to say I had a balance and I do not. A truck pulled up behind me, I let him in front of me and his code didn't work either. I got out and told him I believe it's the gate. Two other people pulled up and I told them the same. The lady on the phone says she can't reach the manager and would call me back. On of the ladies behind me says it's been down all day. I back up to turn around and leave, one of the guys behind me turns put to be the owner and lives on the property. He let's himself and the truck I let ahead of me right in. Instead of saying, no worries I can get you in when I approached him to tell him the gate was acting up. He simply said, ok thanks. So of course as I turn back around to try to get in with my code and the temporary code, no luck and owner was not in site at the gate to help.​

Storage Sense Storage Units review I have had a temperature…read morecontrolled unit for the last 5 or 6 years on Dyess Parkway, Grovetown, Ga. I paid my rent before the due date without fail. A couple months ago Storage sense took over this business. I only go there once in a while, but when I went there last week, all the outside security doors have had their keyed entry guts removed, and the doors are just blowing in the wind. When I asked why, I was told there was nothing in the contract that says they are required to have keyed security doors. I have valuable paintings in there and the only thing now between them and thieves are my padlock on your flimsy garage door. Since your doors don't latch, you cannot have a temperature controlled storage. So therefore it is a scam, and false advertisement. And then you have the nerve to raise the rent for less security and no temperature control? I am moving to another storage business now, and you should be ashamed of yourselves for what you've done. UPDATE: the outside doors are closed now, but they have no locks, therefore no security. Temperature should be fine now, but the only security there is a locked flimsy garage door, which in this section of town is unacceptable.

I was not sure when my 1st payment was due because of their "Free Month" promotion on their sign. I tried to call during office hours to discuss my bill! No one!! returned my call and I was charged the late fee! They also did not remove a second late fee for March. I had access to my unit on March 25th. No red lock out lock was on my unit. I am a new customer!! and with the promotion of "one month free," I thought my first payment was due in April. When I pointed out the fact that I had access I was told "He must have missed your unit." I paid for their incompetence!! No red lock out, no returned phone call which resulted in a second late fee! This is unacceptable as a business practice. I came straight to my unit after payment to confirm there is still not a lock out lock on my unit!! Poor business practice. No lock so they can keep just adding late fees to unsuspecting renters. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND RENT FROM STORAGE SENSE DOWN THE STREET!! I rented from them for over 4 years without 1 incident. Will be going back! Nick's will not get another dime from me. Save yourself the hassle and poor customer service.
