Montalbano's and owner Ken Montalbano are absolutley a dishonest company. Had them install a new pool liner for a 19 x 38 pool. The liner was cut short and ripped upon installation. Ken Montalbano takes no responsibility. He just makes up lies. He has taken me for over $7,500. I currently am suing Montalbano's. I hired Peter pool for a new liner. Peter really knows what he is doing. If you have a bad experience with this dishonest man contact the DCA and file a complaint. He needs to have his license taken away. read more

After spending over $16,000 with this company, they declined to honor or replace a component that had less than six hours of total use. Approached Montalbano's Pool Center when we wanted to put in a semi-inground pool before summer began. They ended up being the best price for the pool materials and they referred me to a very competent contractor to excavate and install the pool, who also was the best price for installation. They did the work right away and we didn't have to wait for the pool kit to be delivered. The only down side was because of the machines they used, I was left without grass in my backyard, but overall, I was very happy with the experience. read more

I called this place looking to replace my pool. I called a few places before and they were all sold out or had no contractors available to help us with the install. I spoke to Frank several times as I had a lot of questions because this was my first time buying a pool, lucky for me he had two pools left the size I was looking for. He was super patient and answered everything perfectly. I went into the store and was met with the same enthusiasm and help in person as I got over the phone. Unfortunately, the experience after wasn't as great. They never lived up to their promise of getting someone to install the pool for us and we had to go on a hunt ourselves. I understand it might not be their job but they told me if I ordered a pool online that no one in Staten Island would help me install it so I felt forced to purchase from them only to have the same thing happen. While having our pool closed, Danny who did our job, caused our circuit breaker to get tripped. He ran a commercial air blower and water pump to drain the water out on outlets connected to the same breaker. This is a 50amp breaker switch, and it still tripped. He told me something tripped and we needed to check and reset the breaker. Without any luck, I asked him to fix it because you guys messed it up or else I am not paying. He told me he is not an electrician, he did not blow it up, and the other switch is working. He said I would need to get an electrician to see what is wrong with it. After he said that, I got very angry because he was trying to pass off that this is not his problem or responsibility to fix it when he caused the issue, and there were no apologies at all. He said he is not going into people's houses with COVID-19. But then why is his entire team not wearing masks for the entire job at all if using that excuse? So we were yelling for a bit and he yelled even louder than me as customer and his facial expressions look like he wants knock me down. At the end of the day, he finished closing the pool with all the power to the outdoor outlets and pool equipment not working. We ended up paying in full. I am very disappointed with his attitude. I am considering to look for another pool contractor next year. If no issue, he is fine. If there is an issue, he will pass it off as not his problem without an apology and just tell you to find someone to fix it. Luckily, I got a friend to come over and fix the electrical issue. read more

When my husband and I purchased our home last winter, neither of us had ever had a pool before and we knew we'd need some help opening it come Memorial Day. We did some research, found Montalbano's, and scheduled an appointment for mid-May. I wasn't sure what was included in a "pool opening," and the Father-Son team that came were nothing short of amazing. They took the cover off, washed and folded it, power washed the deck, shocked the water, filled the pool to the appropriate level, hooked up the filter, etc. They even gave us a crash course in pool maintenence. I highly recommend them and will no doubt call them again at the end of the season. read more

I used to go to another pool store for 6 years but after last year I knew I was spending a lot more than other people to maintain my pool every summer. Since last summer, I cut my pool costs in half thanks to this great store. This week I experienced a problem with my chlorine reading, and a worker named Charles went out of his way to provide outstanding service to make sure he came up with a way to effectively fix the problem while minimizing my cost. He was very patient with my thousand questions and continued with a smile. He even offered to repeat all the directions as I wrote it down. I cant stress how awesome he was. I went with Montalbano's Pools because I heard they have been around Staten Island for a Long Time I had my contractor deal with them so I wouldn't have to. After we called to leave a deposit and was told we only needed to leave 2000- we did then after they received the pool they said they wouldn't deliver it until they had 95 percent of the money After I explained that's crazy - how do I know they would even show up after receiving almost all of what the job costs- before even digging a hole. We agreed on a price to get them to show up still higher than I though I should have. Now after a few days Of work- they added another $4800 to the overall price !!! Their excuse is that although the heater and the pool light were included in the original price- they actual running of the pipes necessary for the heater and light to work was not included. Stay away!!!! We bought a house that has been serviced by Montalbano's before and decided not to change. We never had a pool before and knew nothing about any pool equipment not maintenance. We agreed to upgrade our pool from chlorine to salt water system and paid for a generator that has been advised (Reliant), after the installation we noticed that the generator installed was almost an exact replica of the original Hayward, but had not even one single label nor a logo on it. When we questioned Montalbano's, they insisted that this was an original unit, however we could never receive any proof of that. The entire summer we struggled with water quality, the generator never produced enough chlorine even working for 24 hours on the 100% production. We've been to different pool shops at least twice a week buying more and more chemicals trying to balance our water, we had to hard shock the water at least once a week spending hundreds of dollars on it. And if we delayed the shock by a day or two- the water would go cloudy. We contacted different managers at Montalbano's multiple times asking for assessment and warranty replacement of a unit ( it was obviously malfunctioning) but were always laughed at and ignored. By the end of the summer we hated that we bought a house with a pool and couldn't wait to close it. Right before the scheduled closing, there was a huge storm which washed off lots of dirt to the pool. We suggested Montalbano's techs to clean it completely first and then close it- but they assured us that it's not a big deal- it's ok to close the pool as is! ( again we did not know how it's supposed to be) Fast forward to this spring: we did a lot of research and self education and decided to open the pool by ourselves. When we did so- it was nasty, dirty, with bright green algae all over it. It took a lot of $$ again to clean it and we replaced the faulty salt generator at our own expense with an original Hayward ( $940). Ever since we switch the units 6 weeks ago, we didn't put even one single bag of a shock, the water is at the optimal levels with generator working at 20%, the water is clear and crispy! read more
