This is a great facility, located in Staten Island. Here for a HS track and field event and to support my grandson who does the long jump, triple jump and today the 300m race. There were over 75 HS track teams represented from the tri-state area and Pa. As you can imagine it was ORGANIZED CHAOS, with so many athletes competing the officials kept everything running like a well oiled machine from registering the athletes for their respective events to the actual events taking place. So many different events taking place it easy to zoom in on one particular event you may enjoy. I was amazed by my grandson's events but found myself watching the pole vaulting events. These kids flying over the bars with such grace, I know I'm watching some Olympic athletes in the making. All in all the USA won't have to worry about lack of Any Olympic hopeful in the future. read more

Terrible hours and broken machines. All of the budget and focus goes to supporting the track & field events for high school students. If you are there for a gym membership, it's closed to you Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from December through March. Even when it's open to you, expect a lot of broken machines. No one on staff actually does repairs. Only 1 of the 3 elliptical machines is fully functional. Many of the exercise bikes don't work. Many of the treadmills are very old or don't work. Have heard that the machines were 2nd hand to begin with. Now imagine them with no maintenance. The staff doesn't reinforce proper workout clothes so expect to see many senior citizens in jeans and flannel shirts. Also, only a small fraction of the gym members actually clean off the machines when they are done. Parking is abused. At 6:50am, many spots are already taken up in the parking lot while it's relatively empty inside. Highlights of the parking lot is the random guy who uses its acoustics to play his trumpet. read more

I attended an indoor track meet at this facility and really liked it. I'm used to attending outdoor track events (usually in the late November/early December, where it was not only cold but the bleachers would be uncomfortable. This arena was big, bright and clean. I parked across the street in a parking lot, which was also convenient. The food being sold was reasonably priced and I had no issues. I hope more of the upcoming meets will be held at this location. read more

I came here to officiate a New Jersey High school indoor track meet this past week. This facility is approximately six years old and it was a very well-run meet. The place has two levels and I believe they are going to be putting an indoor pool in the next year. There are weight rooms and I believe there's a membership fee which is pretty cheap for a year, assuming you live in the borough. Parking is ample. And security is very tight. Refreshment stand is well-run. Bathrooms clean. read more

Had a chance to visit this facility to run in a cross country race event recently. We used the outdoors grounds adjacent to the building and it's pretty nice. Ran a five mile race on grass, dirt, gravel, and much trails. Nice scenery including ponds on site. There were also porta pottys to use. I enjoy working out here it's priced fairly for only 100 dollars a year which gives u access to all rec centers in NYC with gyms. It has everything you need to lift weight benches cables, cardio room with treadmill elliptical and bikes as well as squat rack and machines . Upstairs has a track to run on... In the beginning of the year they aren't open many days because of track meets but I also go to the greenbelt rec center. It's a good spot not many people go to it and I always get a good workout. read more

This facility is a two-floor building with the top level dedicated to a large track field, four ping pong tables, concession shops, and vending machines. The bottom floor contains: a smaller track field; small fitness rooms with kettlebells and resistance bands, cardio room with 12 (read Cons) treadmills, 6+ ellipticals, dip station, rowing machines, cycling machines, and other kinds of resistance machines designed for high intensity interval training (HIIT); and a weight-lifting room with a power rack, sets of dumbbells ranging from 5 lbs - 50 lbs, and many different resistance machines (cable station, leg press, chest press, etc.). - Pros: very spacious indoor track, lots of resistance training equipment (both machine and free weight), ping pong tables, price, well cleaned, friendly enough staff Cons: closed for most of the days of the months from December to February for track and field competitions. Extremely limited parking especially during after-work hours during winter on the days that this gym is opened for all. There were times where I circled and waited over 25 minutes until I got an available parking spot. Additionally, on those days, the weight room was packed and so was the cardio room ... meaning have to wait long for available machines. Not worth coming during the winter months. Tiny weight room... ~ 20' x 20', only 1 power rack (doubles as the only bench press), limited dumbbells (up to 50 lbs as mentioned). 12 treadmills sound great? Until you find out half of them are broken and take months (if ever) to get replaced or repaired. Price: * Free for under 18 * $25/year for 18 to 24 * $100/year for 25 to 61 * $25/year for 62 5/10. This Arena was amazing. I ran track in high school. And my very first time being there was in 2018-2019 States Indoor track meet. The facility is amazing. Banked track, soft yet durable track material. Fantastic throwing cages and lanes. This was a fantastic experience for me. read more

If you sign up before the end of the year, it's a free one year membership. This is not, by any means, a comprehensive gym. They have a decent amount of weights, machines, and studio space, but cumulatively those spaces are on the smaller side. There usually aren't that many people so the space is pleasant enough to utilize. Make sure you check the schedule for that day because they will have random closed days or early closures. read more

Love the place because it's the only place on Staten Island where i can play indoor badminton indoors. Couple of things I would like to note: Firstly i am disappointed that they offer badminton only 2 days a week and for 1.5 hrs only. Before the COVID lockdown, in 2019 they had badminton slots scheduled 3 days a week for 2 hours. I don't mind the 1.5 hours but would like to see an additional day scheduled in. Besides that the staff is very friendly and helpful. Secondly half the cardio machines were out-of-service on the day I was there. i hope they get them repaired soon. read more

Very very nice facility, I came to Staten Island for the 2019 indoor track championships. This place is clean and ran well, it's such a beautiful facility. I enjoyed a 3 day weekend here, daily logistics ran smoothly and the areas stayed clean including the bathrooms. All the staff were friendly and provided support the whole time. They might not has as much amenities as other gyms but it's provides enough of the basic equipment you need for a workout and they have classes. I have gone to Ocean Breeze three times for track and field events, and each time is a pleasure. As we drive there from Long Island we are excited to see the facility from Brooklyn, since it is right on the water. The space is bright and spacious which is rare for track events. Last year while waiting for my son's event I went for a cold but lovely walk on the boardwalk. When we went yesterday it was pouring rain so the walk from the parking lot was walk enough for me. The lack of nearby parking is the only reason there are only 4 stars, but I am hopeful that they will put parking nearby in the future, since there is ample space. read more

ITS A SENIOR CITIZEN HOME, filled with retirees who come to socialize and barely workout. Don't bother taking a class the older people there take them to just get themselves out the house and laugh while the instructor is trying to do his job. PROS- Affordable definitely can't beat the price.Nice facility, nice staff. Kettlebell room which is cool. CONS-Small weight room. No bench press. Cardio room is nice but could use a stair master and spin bikes that you can actually strap your feet in. During track season closed on weekends. read more

If you want a peaceful workout with no disturbance, don't go there. If you want friendly, helpful staff, definitely don't go there. The employees are on power trips, happy to show you who the boss is (hint: it's not the customer). The security guards are happy to stop your workout in the middle if they don't like what you're wearing. In my case, the facility manager told me I could not use the gym because my jeans would endanger my health and/or damage their machines. He was unable to provide any written rule but that made no difference. The fact that I'm a doctor and assured him my health was in no danger made no difference. He had the power to throw me out and he'd use it. Do yourself a favor, go elsewhere. read more

Pretty cool place. Went for the first time with my daughter's school for a field day trip. Big complex, cheaper than YMCA, really beautiful indoor track and even has a gym. Only complaint I have is that I didn't like 1 particular staff member names Steve. He was a bit of a douche bag to the kidd during the activities, mind you these are 3rd graders and some in the group have special needs. Myself and another parent noticed the way he spoke to them and I even caught him making faces and catching attitude with some kids. I think he needs to be spoken to about this but other than that it was a nice experience. read more

I'm writing this review for my mom, Zouka. She stumbled onto Ocean Breeze during her walk along the Staten Island boardwalk last summer. They had been offering free classes on the beach. when they opened their new facility my mom was one of the first to join up. She is so glad and very grateful for the facility. The staff and the instructors are wonderful! They are friendly, supportive, and offer great classes in all kinds of areas. It's great for families and very affordable. She has worked out for years at many different gyms in Staten Island, but has enjoyed Ocean Breeze the most. It doesn't have the same kind of atmosphere as a normal gym, it's very down to earth, welcoming, and a fun place to be. It makes working out enjoyable. Thanks to Cindy and Dan especially for always being warm and greeting me with smiles. Thanks also to all the instructors for being a pleasure to work with!
