I had been in the hospital and respite care for ages and afterwards…read moreneeded a solid therapist who could also be adaptable for my needs which included a history of family alcohol abuse and ACOA Adult Children of Alcoholics issues which includes both substance abuse, which can seem obvious, but also the more insidious things like Over Eating to the point of touching on Food Disorders. I played the ACOA Adult Children of Alcoholics Role of The Lost Child (and a little bit of The Mascot, cuteness was always on my side, clowning, not exactly.) Dr. Bob definitely has a gift working with folks who are either/both the Alcohol Addict aka Alcoholic as well as the Family Members and now Adult Family members. If you're struggling with your weight, even to the point of Obesity (for such folks as might be looking at Chapman's Bariatric Weight Loss Surgery program), there is typically an emotional component and JUST dieting or doing WLS alone without also addressing the mental/emotional components with great therapy with someone terrifically experienced like Dr. Bob is only to equip yourself half way. I'd addressed them before for years and had done a tone of highly useful and effective personal work on these already with the 12 Step Programs and others, and found I now needed deeper work on another layer of the onion. How I Found Dr. Bob: My primary medical doctor, who is down the block from him, didn't cite him. His process was to refer me to a Psychiatrist who would then secondarily refer. The first Dr could not even see me. The second, based miles away from me, all the way across Orange County, himself couldn't see me for over 6 months and instead had an offer for me to see a Nurse (I don't remember her credentials title...). I made the appointment. At the time I had a physical exhaustion thing going on (for which I had originally been hospitalized) and couldn't drive myself across the county to the Dr.'s appointment. More than a week prior to the appointment, my OC Access privileges (van ride for the disabled 2 hrs before the appointment) hadn't kicked in yet, so I called to reschedule. More than a week before! And the receptionist gave me grief over it, that they could have scheduled others for the appointment. Then after she accepted my cancellation, telling her I needed to reschedule do to issues with my disability, she informed me that first time patients who canceled attempting to reschedule, the Dr. had the policy to refuse to take them then. I still need to report them for not accommodating my recognized disability, but I then was back to the drawing board. My primary care Dr. had no one else to whom to refer me, so I was stuck. However, I had been in and out of the ER at Chapman with the chronic bronchitis which Kindred Santa Ana had sent me home with no prescriptions to assist me, and at Chapman, they'd given me a print out of other services referrals. There was a Psychology category. Bob was in it and his office was less than 1 mile from home. I phoned and texted with him, and he got me into his office for a MUCH needed first session in under 1 week. SO much better than everywhere else where the staff was more concerned with business and nothing for being a HELPING service. Dr. Bob has always combined being very professional with his caring and therapeutic agility. While we were at it, a couples therapy issue also surfaced and is a recurring theme, and my partner was amendable to JUST ONE session with a therapist because he had formerly had some negative experiences with couples therapists who charged a ton and apparently didn't really listen. Well, Bob listens and it's obvious he does. My partner really liked him and in our session with him and some reflection on his part and then a new negotiation between us, we turned a corner. We still had months to work on it and live it out (the homework of life, right?). Bob really listens and reflects on what's going on with me (you) without trotting out anything too Psychology school specific (Freud, Jung, Gestalt, etc.). He's very easy to talk with and quite wise with a warm disposition. He drinks a small coffee as do I during my weekly session with him. So, you know he's also human! I highly recommend him to individuals and couples. He's terrific.

I actually have holds on their classes to move my baby into when they are ready. Coach Colton has been great for my oldest. I see him do well with kids of all ages, but he definitely excels with the age 6+ group. He is teaching my son all the correct strokes and working on refining techniques and prepping for the swim team. I appreciate how reliable he has been and provides consistency to my child. He has somehow been able to challenge my child in a way that my kid is asking to do more and striving to be better. I didn't think we would be doing swim team (just wanted kids to not drown), but after working with Colton that's the new goal! Coach Adam is another angel. He pairs very well with my middle child. Adam seems to enjoy working with a kid even when the kid is difficult. I think the kids can sense that he appreciates them and that Adam loves his job. He plays with the kids at their level ... my kid is always trying to finish his classes with my Adam tossing him in the water or being silly with him. He is very skilled at redirecting kids and working on what makes sense for the kid that day. Observing him with other students, I get the sense that he has the gift of working well with children on the spectrum too. He seems to earn the trust of the kids and still push them on their skills. Coach Olivia is another great reliable coach. She made swimming fun for my kids and taught them all the basics. The first few months of lessons for a new swimmer isn't so rewarding for the parents because the child is doing necessary basics like floating and swim-roll-swim and it doesn't look like traditional swimming. It's by far the warmest pool we could find, and it's the only place where my son happily stays in the water without shivering. Our regular instructor is Mr. Nori, and he has been wonderful with my son. He's patient, encouraging, and fantastic with all of the kids I've seen in his classes. We recently missed a couple of lessons and had to attend makeup classes. For whatever reason, my son suddenly decided he didn't want to go back for his lesson. Miss Kaylee stepped in and was incredible. She tried everything she could to gently encourage him to go to the back pool, but when it became clear he wasn't going to do it, she didn't give up. Instead, she offered to work with him one-on-one in the front pool where we already were. She even promised she wouldn't put his head under the water. In the end, he became comfortable enough that he chose to put his face in the water on his own with her guidance, but she honored her promise and never forced him. That meant so much to me. I don't know if she was on her lunch break, between classes, or supposed to be doing something else, but I know that impromptu private lesson wasn't part of her day. She took the time simply because she cared, and it completely turned the experience around for my son. The best part is that it worked. Today my son happily got back in the water with Mr. Nori, and I honestly think it was his best lesson yet. Mr. Nori was so sweet, so encouraging, and genuinely proud of him. Seeing his confidence come back was such a great moment as a parent, and I really credit both instructors for making that happen. We've been going to this school since they were in Fullerton, and they've always been great. My daughter started with Mr Nori and he's one of her favorite instructors. She's gone through a few instructors and we've never had a bad experience. My son now attends the school too. This morning, my daughter had a make up class and had to go into a different swim lane with a new teacher. She's been apprehensive about leaving her current school and starting kinder next year, and the emotions came out today. She started crying and holding onto me when she saw the new lane and instructor and said she doesn't want new things. Within seconds, Mr Scott came over and began comforting her asking if she'd like to see her other instructor Mayumi. Mayumi wasn't even dressed to go in the water, but rolled up her jeans and sat in another lane with her. Mr Nori came by to say hi and comfort her, and Mr Christopher gave her a private lesson for a few minutes while she adjusted. He eventually asked her if she wanted to join him in the new lane with the new instructor, and she said yes and was happy the rest of the time. Mayumi also came back to check on her. This is the level of care any parent looks for in a school and I highly recommend coming here.

I hired Monique to make house calls for my son, who was dealing with significant anxiety due to our recent family changes. Following my divorce, my son's father developed dependence issues, leading to several concerning incidents that left my son scared and stressed after visits with his father. I hired Monique hoping for support and guidance, but unfortunately, I was met with dismissiveness and unprofessional behavior. Whenever I expressed my concerns about my son's distress and safety, Monique would downplay the situation, often comparing it to her own experience with her husband's issues. She repeatedly told me I was overreacting and even suggested I was 'overbearing' for wanting to ensure my son was safe. This lack of empathy and understanding was shocking, especially coming from a professional in mental health. Monique also refused to share any insights from my son's sessions with either myself or his father. Her lack of communication left both of us in the dark about our son's progress, and it felt as though she wasn't genuinely invested in helping him. In front of my ex-husband, she even went so far as to claim I was 'the problem,' which was humiliating and unhelpful. When I shared my deep concerns about potential dangers to my son, Monique dismissed them, saying they weren't serious enough to report. This was a tipping point for me, as I felt my son's well-being was not her priority. Ultimately, I ended the arrangement and reported my concerns to the court, who have since taken measures to protect my son. At the end of the first session, she gave us "homework" which I think would have been tremendously helpful had it been done prior to the first session so that my husband and I could organize our thoughts, and she could have some indication of the help we needed so that she could be most effective in the session. They don't take insurance, so paying cash for a session, you really want to be able to make the most of the money spent. I think bc of her unfamiliarity with our situation, she made some suggestions that were obvious and things we had already done. I also felt like she made other suggestions for things that were not issues we were seeking services for. My husband and I both felt like it wasn't the most effective session, but that is how therapy works! You keep "shopping" until you find someone you feel best with. I will say she was patient and calm, and did allow me to speak. She made sure to include all parties and really was solution focused. I think she can be very effective for some, I just think it was my poor demeanor related to the need for therapy that marred our visit.

If I could give zero stars, I would. I have never attempted to seek help for my mental health and…read morethis is my first time. The easy part was getting on the schedule and giving them my card information and then after my first appointment with Carolyn love which was four Fridays ago. It has just been a runaround. At the end of my initial appointment the therapist told me that she would put me on the schedule for the following Friday. We agreed on a time that worked that Friday came and I never got a call. I called the following week asking for another appointment again. I was left with no one giving me a call these next two Fridays so I've gone a month without help and it was something and it is something I feel that I desperately need you are dealing with people's mental health, and the fact that I was so neglected and uncared for really hurts my heart and I hope I'm the only person that has experienced this with this business. I sincerely hope you guys learn your lesson from me and please do better because I know if it was somebody more sensitive than I there could've been worse consequences for the neglect.
