The staff here are amazing. If they are super busy (which they often are), they'll tell you long of a wait and they are uncanny! I had the steak which was cooked to perfection and tasted heavenly. I had it with a side Caesar salad which also gets a thumbs up. And my favourite part about steak at Montana's - they give you 2 onion rings as a topper. Eating only 2 onion rings means you haven't violated your diet. The inside of the restaurant is comfortable, inviting and I have to say it again, amazing staff. read more

Ordered the 10 ounce steak as I always do when in Sydney. It was white inside and out the taste and consistency was that of a pork chop. I probably won't eat there again. read more

Steakhouse with a bit of a fast food feel...maybe because it is located in a mall area it feels like that... Food was good and service friendly although not very well organized. Anyway, will go back when in town again read more

Disappointing experience to say the least. Came in after the supper rush so the restaurant was not busy. Ordered appetizers that were forgotten about. Only had one portion of the menu item my spouse and I ordered. Ran out of the beer my spouse drinks. Very long wait for meal (would not have been such a long wait had the apps we ordered). Kitchen blamed server; server blamed kitchen. Manager was very awkward with his apology. Came to the table to mention he had gift certificates and then left it up to us to request them as he left our table and disappeared. Feel as if my business wasn't valued. Shame because Montanas was one of my favorite establishments and I always made a point to visit one when traveling. read more

Went in and ordered the 7oz Steak meal. The steak was cooked a little more than I had wanted so I mentioned to the waitress and she had no problem replacing it. The manager had even come out and apologized for the mistake and had even given me a card for a free appetizer. For something so small they definitely made a great impression for my first time to this location. The previous Montana's I had been to gave me awful service (Fort Mcmurray) but I love the food in Montanas so I decided to try it home in Cape Breton. I would recommend this location to anyone. Just goes to show you Cape Breton hospitality goes a long way! read more

Horrible food, don't order here. Me and my family ordered from here, and the ribs were burnt, the steak was chewey and pink, the chicken was under seasoned and firm somehow, the fries weren't even clocked properly, whatever you do, don't order here. Even Mcdoland's has better quality. read more

The wait was 45 minutes. The food came to our table cold. I ordered the sampler platter. Pulled pork was tasteless. The ribs were okay but 2 were enough. The chorizo sausage might have been good hot, but cold it was just gross. Fries might have been passable had they been hot. Hubby had beef and fries and beans. The beans were hot. Coffee was the same as gas station coffee. Child had the waffle chicken clubhouse. The honey or syrup made it too sweet so she ate the chicken. She said that was good. Her order of "chippies" was cold, soggy and she didn't eat them. Took us 10 minutes after finished eating to get the waiter's attention and another 10 minutes to get out of there. Went to Montana's tonight and were told there would be a 35 minute wait which wasn't bad so we decided to wait. We noticed there were quite a few waiting before us and also people were coming in and leaving when they heard the wait time. Took a look around and noticed there were ten tables cleared but they were not seating anyone. After 45 minutes of waiting I asked how much longer and were told it could be awhile as the kitchen was backed up!! At this point we left and felt they should have been more up front at the beginning and inform their customers as to what the situation was. Terrible customer service!!! read more

Arrived at 6pm. Waited 15 mins for a table. Not bad! Got our drink orders in and appetizers.. and ordered our food right away... drinks came... apps came... it's been almost two hours and we are still waiting on our entrees !!!! The waitress had told us the kitchen was backed up 45 mins so we made sure we had apps... we didn't expect to have to wait nearly an hour an a half and still NO entrees! Ridiculous! A restaurant runs on turning over tables ... I pay the same amount if I am out in an hour or out in three hours but the business loses money every half hour this table is waiting! So very poorly managed! The apps were good... we're all in now so let's hope the wait is worth it! Update: the manager was a complete douche bag. Condescending and rude. Tried to tell us we had only been waiting under 50 mins and ordering appetizers (recommended by the waitress) slows the orders down... we ordered our food, drink and apps at the same time because the waitress assured us they would all go in together and swears they did. The 45 min wait lasted nearly 3 hours. When our food finally came they brought all but my husbands steak and when the placed my daughters steak in front of her it was a mangled piece is crap and they told us they were bringing her a second one because this one didn't look very good!! Why serve it?!??!? When my husbands steak and my daughters second one came finally, everyone was done their entrees. My daughters was perfect... my husbands was under cooked. By this time he was so hungry he ate it anyway. The manager cut the bull by half but was rather flippant about it. We didn't get a chance to respond to him as he said as he walked away. We wanted food and an apology for our three hour wait (yup three hours!). We weren't looking for a discount but we took it because he was such @ss! We won't be going back there ever again! Had we been going to a show or movie that evening we would have had to leave hungry! We were home visiting relatives so we figured Montana's would be a great place for a family dinner and to treat my husbands mother who had never been to Montana's before and she swore she would never go again. (She missed taking her scheduled medication at 8pm because we didn't think we would be there 2 hours never mind 3). Thankfully she was able to get home fast enough to take them before bedtime. If anything at least the waitress was lovely and had the manager left her to do the job of apologizing and dealing with us we would have suffered in silence. But he was an idiot and treated us like we were inconveniencing him. read more
