8 oz Medium sirloin steak goodness!
    Michelle S.

Came here to eat for a Christmas Party, and boy did I get stuffed. I got a medium 8 oz Sirloin steak, I was offered a 12 oz ribeye steak because the waitress said it might to be too dry if it was medium done. But there's no way in hell id be able to eat that besides I eat so slow. Anywho I got a baked potato as a side, fried onions and coleslaw with 2 grilled shrimp skewers. God was that ever awesome! I'm not one to eat a lot, so this was a pile of food for me. The steak wasn't that dry for me. As everything else was good, although the onions were a bit too much for me. The service here was really good, our waitress was really suggestive with our orders. I was later tempted in getting dessert, cheesecake baked and covered with a tortilla with ice cream on the side with fudge. A lot of fudge! A little too much for me, so It was shared! The bill was a bit pricey but I left really stuffed so it was worth it. It's more like a once in a blue moon type of thing.

    Jambalaya pasta
    Vincent C.

Came here after work with colleagues. Ordered Jambalaya spaghetti. Came with garlic bread. Overall spaghetti was good in terms of taste. Had shrimp, chicken and sausage in it. However it looked like the chicken were breaded chicken as opposed to real chicken. Service was slow. The waitress was friendly but took them forever to bring out the food.

Yuck - stopped going after too many bad meals. Food is over-priced for mediocre quality and is very inconsistent.

We ordered the platter for two, it came with samosa, soup, mango juice, salad, choice of pasta or rice & 2 meat options. We opted to try both chicken and beef stew with rice. For starters, The beef samosa was absolutely delicious, it was paired with a green spicy sauce. The soup was light, but flavourful. I have to say the beef stew was my favourite, it was flavourful and the meat was tender. The service was great. It was a chilly in there, the only criticism would be that it could use some personal touches, the restaurant itself seems a little bare. But the food made up for it.

It wasn't open yet but when I came back and visited again, a few weeks ago, I saw that it was open. So of course I had to try it. The new location is spacious, clean and very family-friendly. They've got a robot that brings you the food to your table. Staff is friendly and portions are as always, generous. Even with the platter for 2, we struggled to finish and we were 3 people + 2 kids. Their sambusa is also really good. The only thing I noticed is that the quality of the mango juice went a little down, as it tasted a little watered down (and unlike the thick mango juice I'm used to). Other than that, everything was an 11/10 as always. Hamdi is a place I'll never get tired of and a place I'll always go back to. Amazing value for money. Great quality and tasty food. Their goat + suqqar are my favourite.

A couple Saturdays ago, I was running a few errands. Once I was done, I felt like visiting a diner for lunch. I did a search and found Poached Dreams Diner in Aurora. I didn't mind driving up from Markham to check it out. It was straightforward getting here. I parked in the parking lot and walked in from what looked like the back of the diner. There's also a front door with a patio that faces Wellington Street East. I was immediately greeted by a young, enthusiast woman. I let her know that I needed a table for one. She got me to a comfortable booth by the window. The catch is that you have to watch your step to get to your seat. It's a treat when I have breakfast out. I thought that I'd be getting french toast. Well, all that changed when I saw a heading for comfort foods on the menu. Nothing makes me happier than seeing open-faced sandwiches on a menu. It was probably during my days living in Winnipeg that I fell in love with such sandwiches and at least a side. New goal: come here and have every open-faced sandwich on the menu. I got cold water to start. It was refreshing and much needed after running errands. I ordered these items for my meal: - Diet Coke (2) - Hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes and veggies My Diet Coke came with a glass with ice. I loved it. I wish the can was larger! I needed a second can for dessert. I loved my hot turkey sandwich. There was a generous amount of sliced turkey smothered in sauce over a slice of white bread. I got to choose my starch. I went with mashed potatoes. There was enough gravy over the turkey that I dunked my spoonfuls of mashed potatoes into it. I loved the steamed veggies. They were perfectly cooked. They also went into the gravy. The meal was delicious. I'd order it again. I felt like dessert. I asked if there was any. Baklava with pistachios. I said yes. I thought that it would be a square or rectangle. Nope. I got a roll. Cool! It was perfect. It had the right amount of honey. It was crispy and yummy. So good! I paid my bill at the table. I tipped and then tapped my credit card. I elected to have the receipt texted to my phone, which also signed me up for its points program. Yay! I learned that this diner has been open since June 2025. I'm always late to any party because I seem to live under a rock or in a cave. I'm glad that I visited this eatery. Great food. Great service. Great! I used the washroom before I left. The women's washroom was clean and had a full-length mirror. This eatery is huge. It looks like there's a cafe for those grabbing coffee and maybe a snack before leaving. I look forward to returning for more good eats and drinks. (148)

The restaurant is bare bones, but has a nice bench seating that spans the length of the seating area, a garage door opening to the street, and a small bar area near the kitchen. There is local art on one side of the wall and graffiti style decor on the opposite wall and washroom (which you can pickup one of the provided pens and tagged it yourself). The cajun fries are soft potato wedges coated in chili flakes and paprika. It comes with what looks like the burger sauce as dip and is tangy and finger licking good. Eating at Heartbreak is a messy affair. The portions are great for the price, the chicken is hot and fresh, piled high with coleslaw and sweet pickles on a brioche bun. The owner seems to be the soul (pin intended) cook, served us, did cash, and took care of the guests. Overall, the chicken was crispy, lots of meat, will be back to try their mac and cheese. Mind you the reviews were all old over a year ago. Since COVID I do noticed most restaurants quality post COVID has gone down. Ambiance: It's pretty small with a few tables. Decor is pretty cute and modern. Also super clean with one unisex washroom. You order at the counter and seat yourself like a fast food place. Service: Service was good. The lady took our order and the food came pretty quick. We also got there at 1:30pm so it was empty. Food: We ordered a easy as pie milkshake which is like you apple pie in a milkshake! Pretty cool idea. The pics on the website looks great. However in reality it didn't look like the website pic at all. Just white milkshake. There are tiny chunks of apple/ cookies and a hint of cinnamon. But overall tasteless and not sweet. It's was like I was drinking ice milk with some texture. I was not impressed. We only took a couple of sips and it left a weird after taste so we didn't end up finishing it To share we got the Kimchi poutine. It was essentially fries that were not that crispy soaked with Kimchi and some mayo on top. It was ok a little underwhelming. The 3 sandwiches we got were different so we can try them all: 1. Sriracha honey Karaage chicken sandwich. The chicken was a bit soggy maybe from the sauce. The bun was fresh. The lettuce inside was a bit wilted. 2. Pho beef banh mi sandwich. The beef was a bit dry and the banh mi was tasteless with no flavour 3. Bbq pull pork sandwich. It was sweet and flavourful but again too much sauce made the sandwich a bit soggy. Pricing is fair. But probably won't come back. For $50 I can get better food elsewhere.
