Ribs were sad looking and tasting. There were dry, no taste, so little sauce with barely any meat, a lot of bone. I was really disappointed for a barbeque joint. I came here for a work lunch, definitely won't come back. How expensive are canned beans? There was a pitiful quantity. Corn bread was decent. You can't mess up salad.

Arrived at 7pm on a Monday. Entered the restaurant, an employee approached us, and proceeded to stand there staring at us. We break the ice by indicating that there are two of us looking to be sat for dinner on the patio. She goes to check the patio, and returns saying there is no room and asked if we would like to sit inside. I replied no thanks, and asked how long the wait would be for a patio table, to which she grabbed menus in a huff and walked back outside, saying she'll "check again". We notice several bored looking employees in the bar area, whom she returns to consult with. She then returns and explains there is a reservation for 6 on the patio in an hour, so as long as we are done by then, we can have that table. We were confused by that answer, she was reacting as if we were demanding a table immediately. As we walked out, one other smaller table left. Within two minutes, two other tables left and were cleared and cleaned. We would have been happy to wait for any of those tables. We were sat in front of one of the speakers blaring a "diverse" mixture of pop country, generic pop music and watered down modern country music. All terrible. The headache it gave me is still here 15 hours later. Whoever is running this place has no understanding of electricity, as crisscrossed extension cords leading to the tv and a hastily installed leaking fountain was clearly not up to any code. With wires passing in and around the water. Wouldn't be surprised to hear this place catches fire and burns down. Just hope no one gets hurt. It took about 5 more minutes to get acknowledged by the server. Ordered drinks and food from her immediately. (Being aware we were the only ones there with an unnecessary time limit".) Waters came out in rough looking plastic cups with all sorts of scuffs and stains, no lemon, no ice. Didn't look or taste clean. Ordered the bbq trio, which is ribs, chicken and shrimp. The portions were comically tiny. Beans were about one fork load. Potato was big enough, but tasted like dirty dish water and was inedible, even smothered in butter and sour cream. Chicken portion was a joke, 1/4 of a breast at most. Shrimp was dry and chewy as hell, as if it had been cooked several hours earlier and stored under a heat lamp or microwaved. Ribs were pretty good actually, sauces were tasty. $26 meal, and after I was done, I was still hungry. My partners veggie burger was good and our server on the patio was nice (clearly new and trying). Our complaints are aimed at the management team and the poor decisions they made on sitting us, being so stingy on the portions and the overall food quality ranging from underwhelming to unacceptable. I felt bad responding on the payment pad a "no" when asked if we would recommend that restaurant based on the experience. I fear the inept management will blame the server, but she had nothing to do with anything we took issue with. 100% responsibility is with mismanagement. Never coming back to this location, may not go to any other Montanas either.

My husband was in the mood for BBQ and this was near our hotel. We started with their buffalo chicken wings. On Mondays they are half-price, so we lucked out on that. They were really crunchy. The medium sauce was sweeter than what we are used to, but they were good. The blue cheese wasn't chunky like we are used to either, but it was fine. I ordered the fried chicken with a side salad instead of potatoes, green beans, and gravy on the side. The chicken was crispy and tasty; the green beans slightly undercooked which is just how I like them; the salad fairly standard, although the lettuce seemed a bit old. My husband got the ribs meal with coleslaw and an upgrade to the poutine. The first set of poutine was cold, so we sent it back and got some fresh ones. Now we can say we've tasted poutine! What a unique idea to combine fries, cheese curds, and gravy! The ribs were flavorful and tender, and the sauce very good. Coleslaw was basically vinegar type slaw. Overall, a decent meal. Our server was nice, and I was pleasantly surprised that she got our order right when she hadn't written anything down! She's got a better memory than mine! Just a couple of complaints... Our meals didn't have cornbread on them, so we had to get it to go, and our server kind of disappeared after we got our food and it took awhile to get our bill.

Wow - yummy ribs, good coleslaw & excellent salad.

Get the ribs! The menu has a lot of delicious sounding things but why do they need to publish the calories??? Once I saw the calories, it took forever for me to decide. I tried the ribs that the bartender recommended as they are known for BBQ. Boy was he right! They were soooo good & I loved the salad & coleslaw that came with it. This place is very convenient if you are staying at the Doubletree close by. The atmosphere was rustic & I thoroughly enjoyed my meal there. Go check it out!

Well...thanks to google maps, we ended arriving at the wrong Best Western. Since traffic was bad to the right one, ask the desk clerk for restaurant recommendation. One was for Montanas and we decided to give it a shot. They have two types of Brisket sandwich and decided to split them. One was a Southern style with Cole slaw and the other have fried onions and cheese. Both were very good, but a bit fatty for the wife.taste. As an appetizer we had Califlower wings, also good.

My team at work isn't great at making restaurant suggestions. My task was to book time for us to celebrate a software release that we have been slaving away over for six months. I asked for suggestions and got nothing. Luckily, my manager came up with a few. We went with Montana's for our team lunch. I haven't been to one in years. This one is about a five-minute drive from our office. We were a group of six. It wasn't too busy. I didn't bother making a reservation. The lunch specials are nice. I love mac and cheese. The downside to this lunch special was that it was served with a side Caesar salad. I wasn't in the mood for it. I asked our server if I could swap it out for a house salad. Yes! I love versatility. So, my mac and cheese had bacon and spiral pasta. So good! I had contemplated getting the regular portion, but I'm glad that I went with the lunch special. The side salad made me feel like I was eating something healthy... ha! You can get chorizo sausage with this mac and cheese. I opted not to. The bacon was good enough for me. I loved the cornbread. It was yummy, warm, and perfect. I ordered a Diet Pepsi to wash everything down. I liked the mason jar. Service was fast and friendly. The bill came promptly. I was expensing it and left a decent tip. We all got lollipops. I had mine there! I'd come back here again. I may have the regular-sized mac and cheese next time. If I have room, I'll try dessert. Came in for a quick dinner after my flight. The location is close to the airport and right by my hotel. Great menu selection and the food was tasty. The best part was my server Stephanie- cheerful, welcoming, fun, and attentive! Her service made my meal memorable! A good first dinner in Toronto!

The service is not very attentive, we were seated and told to use the qr code for the menu. We picked our items and not one waiter decide to come back to take our order. We had to flag down a waiter, to give in our order. When the food arrive, they weren't even sure if it was for our table, the staff never came back to check if everything was okay. We had to also flag them down to get take out boxes, and again for the bill. The food: the appetizer, we ordered the calamari it had good flavours and were crispy. Slighly more oily but still delicious. The jerk chicken had good flavours and was very tender. The veggie upgrade is NOT worth it and extra $3 for 5 carrots and 3 broccolis. The rib eye steak was okay, the cut is not the best. The hot stone makes the table very hot, the plate holding it was cracked and hazardous imo. Fries in general were tasty and the 3 different sauces were good. In general this place needs to step it up a little, atleast with service since it's the easiest thing to change. We were given a booth near the entrance of the restaurant, then given menus to choose our items from. We also noticed that there was a QR code on the table, in which we were able to scan and view the menu on our phones. Once we had chosen our items, we waited patiently, while admiring the music playing on the loudspeaker, and the television screens showcasing the menu items in video format. The restaurant itself was dark, with moderate lighting, and a calm ambiance. More guests started to come as we were seated, and the restaurant became busier. Since we had ordered an appetizer, we were waiting on that to arrive while watching other guests arrive. Calamari was the appetizer in which we had chosen, as we both enjoy eating it. It was a tad spicy, and didn't have a lot of sauce on the plate to dip the calamari into. However, it did have a nice kick to it, and was easily eaten by us both. We then had to wait another ten to fifteen minutes to receive only my meal, which was the hamburger with melted cheese. We would have liked to receive our meals together however, the lamb that my husband ordered took much longer to arrive. Since the lamb came about fifteen minutes after the hamburger, the kitchen provided us with a complimentary salad, which we found generous. Both the lamb and hamburger meals were well-prepared and tasty however once again, not enough dipping sauce was provided for fries, and the salad on the plate with the lamb was covered with the sauce used for the lamb. Service was great throughout the entire night, with the server coming by to check on us, and apologize for the long wait for the lamb to arrive. Overall, this restaurant had tasty food and a chic ambiance however, the prices were a little high, and some of the presentation items (lack of sauce, slow service) were a bit of a let down. However, this place definitely had a lot of options, and would surely satisfy any hungry individual looking for a well-made meal.

That night we ordered chili garlic shrimp, furious fries, ahi tuna tataki and received wild mushroom & goat cheese dip on the house. Everything was delicious. We all liked the shrimp, it had a kick. 3/4 liked the fries, since it contains truffle oil and gran padano, one of our party members wasn't a fan. We all enjoyed the dip and I ate the rest of the tuna tataki as part of my meal. In addition to this, we each ordered a meal. One person got the oven roasted chicken, another the prime rib, another the top sirloin and me, the mussels in white cream sauce. I was enjoying my steamed mussels until I was met with granules of sand at the very last bite. Everyone else enjoyed their meal. Another time, went back for steak, salad and escargot. The escargot was tasteless. Neither myself nor the person I was with enjoyed it. Keg makes theirs way better! Good cuts of steaks and flavours. Had the burger on one occasion when a craving struck. Sat at the bar, had a drink and people watched. Will return again. It's a convenient location and drive. Free parking in the lot next to the hotel. A high end restaurant with good service and ambiance. Lighting is at times too dim but adds to the romance, I guess.

The prices listed below reflect the regular menu, though portions at the event were likely smaller than standard service. The evening began with a beef skewer ($31), featuring cubes of barbecued beef glazed in teriyaki and topped with plenty of chives. Unfortunately, consistency was an issue. Other guests raved about how tender theirs were, while mine arrived overcooked. It wasn't inedible, but it certainly wasn't tender. One of the restaurant's newer additions is its aged fish program, so I was eager to try the dry-aged salmon ($33). Listed as a "crudo," I expected delicate slices in a citrusy sauce, but it arrived as another skewer. The texture was undeniably smooth, with the dry aging removing any chewiness, but the salmon also developed a gaminess that lingered unpleasantly. A marinade or thinner slicing might help balance things out. I'm glad their signature Caesar salad ($24) remains excellent. It's beautifully balanced with acidity, savouriness, and thoughtful touches like buttery breadcrumbs and bacon bits that aren't rock hard. It's still one of the better Caesars in the city, though tableside preparation now costs an additional $10. Fans of tartare will likely appreciate the beef tartare ($41), which is prepared traditionally with minimally dressed hand-cut beef. Personally, I wanted more contrast in texture or flavour, though tartare has never been my go-to dish. I did appreciate the accompaniments of buttery crostini and gem lettuce leaves, which offered a lighter way to enjoy it. And for fans like me, don't worry their cheese bread puffs still make an appearance (along with their take home chocolate muffins). What continues to shine at Jacobs is the steak itself. The 40-day dry aged striploin was cooked beautifully, developing a crust that locked in the juices while maintaining tenderness despite being a leaner cut. The seasoning is more restrained, which allowed the volcanic sea salt and chimichurri on the side to actually enhance the beef rather than overwhelm it. The pecorino broccolini ($22) had me almost finishing off the plate and is such a nice accompaniment with the rich beef. The only disappointment was the duck fat fries ($21), which arrived lukewarm and slightly stale, likely a casualty of serving a packed dining room. Dessert ended the evening on a high note. The crème brulee ($21) was fantastic with visible vanilla bean specks throughout the silky custard. The sugar topping was thin and delicate, avoiding that overly sweet crunch some versions suffer from. Served alongside a sizeable chocolate biscotti and a fragrant orange shortbread cookie, it's easily large enough to share. With the expanded dining room, the front-of-house team has clearly grown as well. The staff is younger and fresher-faced, so any old-school steakhouse stuffiness has largely disappeared. More importantly, the service remains polished and attentive, and we were well taken care of throughout the evening.
