My son was a victim of a skimmer fraud and tried to make a police report, but left after waiting for two hours for someone to come and help him out. After a two hour wait your patience runs thin so he decide to leave. I called the same day to ask why does it take long to get help. After waiting on hold for 20 minutes I myself gave up on them. Staff is very professional. I don't know what all the fuzz is about in regard to the receptionist, but the ones that I interacted with yesterday were very professional. Andrea was very helpful guiding me in the process of filling out a ride along application. Went in today with a fair amount of questions and was assisted by S.LaBeau. With multiple people in the lobby she was able to assist everyone and got us all out of there in a flash. Be aware people make sure you put cameras on your dashboard and back of your car. They tent to go after people giving tickets and if you try to fight it guess what the court will not side with you. They have to make their money on tickets so be safe and install cameras and record everything. Because for some reason the police is not what it used to be they just hire anyone. I have lived in Montclair over 20 years, I have nothing but praise for our Montclair Police Dept and their dispatch. They have always responded in a timely manner and dispatch has always been great, they ask the right questions to make sure you are safe at the moment of call. The officers come as soon as they can. SO UNPROFESSIONAL!! Officer Magana called me and asked me and my daughter to meet up with her at the police station. She even asked me how long it would take me to arrive at the station. After my daughter and I arrived at the station, we waited 30 minutes at the lobby! Officer Magana was still UNAVAILABLE! That's not right at all! My daughter and I shouldn't have to wait over 30 minutes at the lobby! Why waste our time waiting at the lobby when she's unavailable!! The worst most rudest receptionist, she is very unprofessional. I know how it is dealing with people so I try to be polite but she raised her voice at me for no reason. This place is beyond unprofessional and unreliable The officer I talked to was condescending and was laughing as I was asking for the names of the people that messed up and had me going in hoops for just a ticket sign up. I fear retaliation but I'm going to say it anyways. The Montclair PD pinned a FAKE DUI on my boyfriend who is now doing at least 6 months in jail. DUI never happened but my boyfriend had priors over 8 years ago so their false reports stuck like glue. Who can you turn to when the guys in charge are the ones breaking laws? Why did they choose my boyfriend? So many questions. Montclair is like the Melrose Place of the IE, only with ugly people. I had to file a police report when our public storage unit got broken into and cleaned out! The first police officer that responded was very attentive and helpful super kind and very concerned. He helped me in a very stressful situation. He only gets these two stars. Now when I had to call to public storage they told me they might have found some of our stolen items. I contacted the Montclair police department right away. I left over 19 messages within a month because they weren't calling us back. Finally I got a hold of anything officer on our case here informed my hubby that indeed they had found some belongings on top of the roof of the public storage units The officer said they hauled off over two truck loads of property. My hubby explained in detail all of our property that was stolen. The officer said well we have some of your stuff. He made and appointment for us to come view pictures of the stolen property. We viewed it and it was maybe a total of 20 items a few were ours. We asked what's this where's the rest they said you guys hauled off over two truck loads of property. The officer said well here must have been mistaken. Nope I believe they picked through what was valuable and left what wasn't. Can't trust the POLICE who can u trust!!!! read more

Wow just moved in the area and just found out this department is not one to call if you have an emergency you first have to choose a selection what if you're being attacked forget it the reason for my call was that there was a big loose dog walking north on mills after KingsleyWhen I finally got a hold of dispatch the first thing they said was is it acting aggressively I told her it doesn't matter it's a really big dog it's on the loose and about a few yards from the school and kids walk to school She said police will not go right away but I will notify them and animal services But I bet if it was in one of their kids school that would go out there themselves personally read more

As far as police departments go, Montclair isn't to bad. Ive never had a problem with them, and every time we have issues they always arrive and take care of it. I live in an area where there is a lot of car accidents and they always make sure everyone is okay before they leave. The girl who answers the phone when I call is always super nice and helpful too. read more

I was assaulted at my job, a gas station here in Montclair. First time the people came in and they threatened me saying they are going to come back and hurt me so I called police and asked someone to come out so I would feel safer and after 45 minutes nobody came. While waiting for the police to arrive, the people who assaulted me returned. I told the police I felt I was in danger and they still didn't make me a priority and I ended up getting seriously injured. The worst part is that the people who assaulted are walking free due to the lack of effort from the Montclair police. I know exactly who the people who assaulted me are. The entire assault was caught on camera, the license plate of the vehicle that fled the scene was given to police, full names and addresses of the suspects have been given to the police and they still haven't been caught. I truly believe that my life is still in danger, it's been almost 7 days since this happened to me and Montclair police haven't reached out to me for any information at all. I have been receiving threats over social media by the people who assaulted me and the police told me they weren't valid threats and that they were not going to do anything about it. I have never heard of police being so useless. It really disturbing to know that somebody can come inside your workplace and attack you and they can walk free afterwards. read more

I was given the number to victim services when the officer is supposed to have taken me somewhere immediately. Even the District Attorney's office gave me the number to victim services, the officer was supposed to have done more than he did, and I still require assistance. I was poisoned, there were stolen items, I was in ambulance five times. These officers need to respond and immediately. The problem has followed me. The DA's office was notified of the issue years in advance, and the police didn't do their entire job yet. I trust that they will contact San Bernardino PD and make sure that what they didn't do to the full limit of help they were supposed to provide will be done here or in Redlands. I was severely victimized by a male running a place I was placed in, and it is an illegal practice when even your stimulus payments are removed off of your cards, and you end up in several ambulances when you have never in your life required an ambulance prior. I was found almost dead on the floor, $4,000 dollars stolen, and much else. I trust the police, but am having a hard time right now with doing that after what I have been through. I know they are there to do their job, and I am there as a citizen to ensure that it happens. Because of what I have been through, with regard to this "theft", that is much more than that at this point and much earlier in life too, these men need to be caught, and I need to be protected. Many people on the property had the same issues, but were being threatened instead of getting the help. Help police. you had an opportunity to ensure the safety and well being of a woman, and I'm still waiting for all of you to make sure that this is done. I happen to know that all police reports are able to have information as the officers see further harm, placed into the report, that being victim services, and the ride there. They don't want to find a dead body somewhere for anybody, that betrays the justice system and the law enforcement 's code of honor to protect. There was a hit and run on my car by a drunk driver a witness saw, $7,000 in damages-completely destroyed my car. I asked them if there was a camera in the area, they said there was not. So, there was a camera in the lot WHERE THE INCIDENT OCCURED. It's a town camera, so they should know this and actually be the ones telling ME there's a camera not the other way around. Gave them specific info of the street the driver drove down after leaving the scene, and asked about the camera that was located at the liquor store on that street to get an imagine of the car driving away from the scene. Very rudely, they told me that camera was only storefront surveillance and wouldnt get any footage of the street and not to waste my time when I then was asking if maybe it got part of the street possibly?-Just wanted to exhaust all possibilities. I went into the store and asked and they DO have recording of the street. The man in the store said they have two cameras both angled on the street and would definitely be able to see cars driving down the street. Not only were they super unhelpful but seriously rude and gave false information which actually would deter me from catching this person. They acted like I was making them all do backflips to figure out a little scratch on my car. My car was completely destroyed. They were rude, zero sense of urgency and dismissive. The officer even said "well, this stuff happens i don't know what to tell you.." in a condescending voice when I was trying to think outside the box by asking some questions that maybe, uhm, the police could help me with....???? Nope, clearly i was just irritating them with my concern and assertiveness to figure out who was responsible for the thousands of dollars of damage to my car and not to mention if I had been getting out or into my car at that moment, or anyone walking right there on the sidewalk would have been killed 100%. This drunk driver completely drove off the road over the curb and grass and hit my car so hard that my car moved into the next parking spot and hit that car parked there. So two cars were even involved in this accident. I knew when i was trying to explain the details reported by the witness to them, they were not actually listening to anything I was saying and just wanted me to leave them alone. I have never written any negative thing about anyone online in my life but I am so disheartened and it really just is despicable how the police would treat someone with zero empathy in such a nonchalant passive way regarding a serious matter- I was doing all the heavy lifting doing their job for them and all they had to do was listen to me and attempt to help. read more

This police department is a joke. We called them to help us get our phone back from a shady cell phone place as someone stole the phone. Then they arrested my son saying his heart was beating away too fast so they think he is under the influence of something. He is on a lot of prescription meds yes which is legal. But they did nothing to the sketchy guy from the cell phone store that looked like he was high. Time to move out of Montclair read more

I've had to experience horrible customer service from the front desk of the Monclair police department. The women in the front desk seem to be unhappy. They are not welcoming nor helpful. April 18th 2017, at 12:30 pm I walked in and the lady at the front desk did not even bother to look up to greet me instead kept her eyes on the screen as she finally asked me what I needed. She was rude and unhelpful. I turned in a form hopefully the front desk treatment is not a reflection of the whole department. I'm hoping to get this paperwork processed as soon as possible.
