A breathtakingly beautiful park!!!! Hard to describe the beauty of this state park. A variety of hiking and biking trails. Camp sites, cabins. and a lodge.

I came here with my significant other for a hike and had a great time. The trails are marked and are easy to follow. Make sure to bring enough water! I'll definitely come back next time I'm in town. Well worth the entry fee.

Nice park to explore and kill some time over the weekend. There is a $10 fee to get in. You can bike or hike. You can also visit the Japanese Garden which is next to a convenient store/rest area.

I always enjoy visits to Monte Sano. It is always well maintained and literally a breath of fresh air. Picnic, camp, playground, hiking, and more. Bring comfortable shoes with grip to take a hike, a picnic blanket to enjoy the scenery, or a hammock to just relax for the afternoon. I do not camp frequently--I had my fill of it earlier in life--but camping options are versatile here. You can go primitive, pitch your tent, bring your RV hand hook it up, or rent yourself a cabin built by FDR's Civilian Conservation Corp (CCC).

I was really impressed with the views from this park, especially for being so close to town. The North Pleateau Loop offers views that make you seem like you're miles from civilization, even though you're a short walk to the parking lot and a short drive back into Huntsville. They have lots of trails for all skill levels and the $5 entry fee is definitely worth it. This place is a must see if you're in town and want to do a quick hike or take more time and explore more of the park.

Side trail to enter park from the free entrance (I think purple trail, probably a couple miles from main park)

Monte Sano has a beautiful trail system ranging from easy trails to run to some pretty strenuous hikes/climbing. The park does cost money to enter, but there is a free entrance lower on the mountain at a small parking area. This area has a sectioned off Highway you can run down then it branches off with a trail you can use to access the park. I recommend going in the mornings when it's misty, very beautiful.

A great place to go hiking either by yourself or with a group of people. $5 per person to enter. They have trails with varying degrees of difficulty. I saw many people walking and hiking but I also saw a good number of people mountain biking. I went in the fall before the leaves fell and it was difficult to see out on the horizon but the view under the tree canopy was still worth it. There are rock shelves and look out points.

This was a nice little get away for Thanksgiving. Plenty of trails to hike and ride. The cottage was small and rustic. We were in cottage 8 which is pet friendly. We had two issue but they were resolved quickly. There is a small store on site but no restaurant. Grocery store and restaurants are within 5 miles. Cell service is choppy. I would recommend a stay a Monte Sano.

Beautiful view with easy access without a hike and then hiking opportunities, too! Be sure to be aware of posted speed limits.

Best place in the city. I love it here. So quiet, very little sound from city around it. Beautiful.

They replaced the tennis courts with sand volleyball courts. The Park has the 2nd oldest disc golf course. It has at least 1 18-hole disc golf course in super-tall pine trees on the east side. You can fish here. The water features are on the south and north sides of Drake Avenue. People catch big mouth bass and catfish here. They have vending machines where you can buy food for the fish, ducks, and geese. There's a free splashpad here, and I think it's on astroturf that's open from Open Memorial Day - Labor Day, every day from 10:00AM to dusk. It closes very Tuesday at 5:30 PM and reopens on Wednesday morning at 11:00 AM to allow for maintenance. There's not a lot of shade near the splashpad, so you may want to bring an umbrella or some type of covering to get some relief in the hot summer months. I can't think of many restaurant options in the immediate area, except for the McDonald's which is just east of the park, the food court at Parkway Place Mall, the City Cafe Diner east of the park on Drake, a walk-up Taqueria El Cazador at Drake, and Triana and another Mexican place closer to the park on Drake. In other words, pack a lunch to enjoy! Covered pavilions are available to rent for events such as parties and reunions. We grew up playing ball in the ball fields at Brahan Spring. It looks like they offer flag football, soccer, and softball and baseball now. Personally, I would limit my visits to daytime/morning hours if I were taking children to this park. Also, the restrooms aren't very convenient to the splash pads and are often locked.

This was a hidden gem! Our grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed themselves! I will definitely bring…read morethem again when they come to w!

Since it was sprinkling out, there were only a few people out. A man BF knew walking his beautiful pup, Lilly and a man and his son who were fishing. I asked them what they caught and they caught a turtle! I was happy they caught and released the little critter. Or maybe it was big, I didn't get a chance to see it. Tom and Lilly were a delight to talk to - well Lilly didn't talk or bark either. And the pavilion and two ponds were a nice respite from the long day both BF and I had. There were ample garbage cans, nice walking/running paths, maybe (I wasn't sure) a free little library (it was empty making it hard to tell what it was), the pavilion with picnic tables and plenty of seating and lots of geese. Why no 5th star? Tom told us the goose poop was cleaned up recently, but it really was not cleaned all that well under the pavilion. Do check out Jones Farm Park, it is really pretty and peaceful. Looks like a decent spot to fish, too!

The park is essentially a nice series of paths connecting Four Mile Post to Carl T Jones with some retention ponds, benches, and pavilions to provide some "natural" space to counteract the sprawl of the shopping centers next door. (And if you doubt that this is sprawl, ask me about what this area looked like when I was growing up and Carl T Jones was new...). We parked in the small lot around 10am on a Saturday. My mom said that we were lucky to find a spot since the lot is often full in the morning and evenings, to the point that they've already expanded parking and it's not enough. We meandered along the paths, letting our toddler be amused by the gravel and flowers, while others fished in the ponds and walked with purpose. We saw some great birds, including a red-winged black bird. It's close enough to the greenway to be a lovely addition to my runs whenever I visit my folks.
