Our guide was great, super friendly and had lots of interesting stories about the cave and how it was formed. The tour is really well done, the walkways are easy to navigate and there were plenty of opportunities to take in the amazing views. Be warned that it is a little chilly in the cave, but you should be good with a decent jacket.

The staff were extremely helpful and so accommodating. We purchased gold mining buckets for our 5 grandchildren but one of them didn't get an amethyst. She didn't notice and neither did we however the staffer did. He sought us out and gave us a piece of amethyst for her. Our tour guide was also amazing, very informative and entertaining. As an out of shape old grandma the cave return walk was a bit challenging for me but worth every muscle ache.

There is a large gravel parking lot, with the hiking trail entrance on one end and the lookout area on the other. Around sunset, the parking lot can get pretty busy, but I've never not been able to find parking. Parking is kind of a free-for-all, since there aren't any lines or signs. There are a few benches near the edge. Most people either bring blankets to sit on or just stand around to see the view / watch the sunset. It's pretty far away, but you can see the Saturn V at the Space and Rocket Center if you zoom in with your camera / have binoculars.

Note you arrive at the walls and it's a pretty little pool with mini waterfalls. You need to climb up the waterfalls to see the really impressive formations. Definitely worth the effort. But, climbing back up to the parking lot: disheartening. I had a miserable time. Also to note, do not make the mistake I did of going in July in Alabama: the heat and humidity were intense.

Next time I would bring a picnic. Another thing, check the weather before you go. It was quite warm for late October, we were shedding layers like there was no tomorrow. I wish I had worn a tank top. Also the terrain is not difficult but hiking shoes are definitely the best option, but you'd be fine wearing sneakers.

There's a very narrow path to the left of the falls, but not an easy path. Also getting to the path requires threading through the water atop the waterfall. I love the great outdoors and had every intention of going hiking, but ran into a few issues. To satisfy my desire to embrace the great outdoors I stopped by this place. The view is of the TN river and you must check it out. I honestly don't think the pictures do it justice. It's a small area but would be great for jogging or walking, having a picnic or simply taking in the scenery. I was also impressed by the fact that they have at room facilities available. I did not go into the restroom, but from the outside it appears new and clean. I highly recommend making the stop if you are in the area.
