This call was made today 6/9 at 5:30 so I don't know who is answering the phone. It was a young gentleman, but to make an assumption That I could not afford something is not for him to decide. His responsibility was to give the information that I was inquiring about at least, allow me to explain what I was looking for and what organization it was for. Not only do I run a nonprofit, I'm a property owner in Hacienda Heights, community member and I think that was so insulting. I thanked him for his service and told him I could no longer further the conversation. I said my goodbye so I definitely do not recommend this place to anyone. They're not interested in helping a community if they can insult and turn someone away without even knowing who they are and what their needs are. With everything going on in the world and in our own state, we need to be respectful to our community members. The reason I reached out was before I gave my money to another business outside my community. I thought I should inquire within my community because it would be most beneficial to give back to the community I am from. Whoever this young man is, I highly recommend that he does not answer the phone or do any type of customer service. He is rude and offensive.

The Garvey Avenue Community Center always have a lot of activities going on. It has plenty of…read moreparking spaces in the front and the back of the building. It is also used for city council meeting so its location is well known within the city. Getting in and out is a bit of wait as Garvey is a major thoroughfare and traffic often backs up at Garvey and Rosemead. Sometime I turn on Lee Street to get around the jam. But I digressed. Back to the Center. For some reason I can't explain, I used to refer to this center as the senior center. I often see people playing table tennis, and hold yoga/dance & exercise classes here. Come on by when you are in the area. Staff at the reception counter are great resources to answer questions.

I want to share how happy I am with Sunrise ADHC. My mom has memory issues and has been attending…read morefor about 3 weeks now, and I have already noticed a big improvement in her mood and confidence. Before Sunrise, I had her enrolled at another facility nearby. Unfortunately, that place was dirty and run down. Many times the bathrooms did not even have toilet paper, and the environment did not feel clean or safe for my elderly mother. It was very concerning. The difference with Sunrise is truly night and day. The facility is very clean, the food is fresh, and they offer more filling meal options. The staff are patient, kind, and very friendly with all of the participants. I especially want to thank the social worker Karen who worked very hard to help me sign up for ACCESS transportation. I was a little disappointed that even though we live close by, Sunrise could not provide transportation for my mom, but I hope that will be possible in the future. Caregiver Jazmine is also amazing. She is very kind and extremely patient with all of the elderly participants. My mom talks about her often, and it makes me feel safe and happy that we found such a wonderful place for her. I do hope they can continue to expand their activities and possibly include more physical therapy and memory games for the participants. Overall, we are very grateful for the care and support Sunrise has given my mom.

I have visited the palms quite a few times. This place has a great environment. Once you walk in…read moreyou are greeted by nice receptionist and a nice lounging area with fish tanks around. The dining area is pretty good size as well. I would say there are about 100 rooms? Three stories high. Seems like they are little apartments inside. The ones I've seen has a small kitchen area, a living room, and the master bed room with a bathroom. Some even have balconies I believe. The grounds here are very spacious. There are plenty of lounging areas outside in the courtyard areas. There is a salon where residence can get their hair done. I also believe its for men and women. It is a pretty active community. There are daily activities: hallway bowling, hallway golf, bean bag baseball, and aerobic exercise classes. There maybe more, but those are the ones I know about. Also they take fun little day trips to various places in Southern California. I know they've gone to Newport beach and palo casino to name couple of the places. This place has top notch staff and they all are very helpful and nice. The bus driver Adam treats everyone with great as well as jokes around with them all. If your looking for a great place for your loved one look no further. I think the palms is a great community in la Mirada. It is down the street from la Mirada park, city hall, and biola university. This is a place where most everyone knows each other by name. And the general manager here will do anything possible to make anyone's stay here more enjoyable. Also they decorate for holidays and do random fun nights for the residence. Only reason why I gave this place 4 stars not 5 is because the visitor parking is pretty limited inside the gate of the palms. But there is plenty of street parking surrounding this establishment. And residents may have vehicles. They have their own residence parking placards I believe. I know they have marked spaces for residence vehicles.
