The park has a dirt track that's wide enough so that people can shuffle or sprint here without interfering with one another. The trees and plants are also gorgeous, and there are signs everywhere explaining why these particularly (local) species were selected and how the local watershed works. There are large concrete benches/stairs on the southern end of the track, so there's plenty of space to sit and watch even if you're not joining your exercising friends. Leslie was so polite and answered every single question I had. As we began to do a walk thru of the YMCA. I quickly saw a gym set up a workout area. Machines galore with a lot of privacy and unisex. There are locker rooms that have been remodeled. Everything inside the locker room has every amenities you need to make your visit successful. The ladies all chit chat everyone is welcoming. Modesty goes out the window when coming to the Y. Plenty showers available, benches and chairs in the locker room. From the ladies' locker room is an exit door that leads to the pool. There are some major lap swimmers here. Most of them don't care too much about sharing a lane. There is the shared swimming area, which works out great. What you need to know Areas may close for cleaning multiple times throughout the day. You can book up to 5 visits. Each visit has a minimum and maximum length of time. You can check in up to 30 minutes before your scheduled time. My friend called the offices on Tuesday to ask for her deposit back and she had no record of the leak and put the money on hold since there was an apparent "incident" the night before. This place is a rip off. They will find any little thing to keep your money but will not step up and take the blame when they are at fault for things. People's Yoga in Monterey Park (near ELAC) exceeds my wildest dreams. This single studio with wooden-floors and plants is homey and yet located on the second floor of a plaza and across from the metro station (Atlantic stop). It's truly a delight - not to mention the one and only Latina-owned yoga studio is the area (if not LA?). My favorite class is "Body Soft" on Thursday nights at 7pm with Diane. This class is for those that want to ease into yoga (a.k.a. Beginners) or those who need to chill from a long work week. But...please don't meditate into sleep. Yes, rarely does snorting ensue. On-site parking is available and the studio provides all the equipment and even water, just bring your own water bottle. Pre-registration is recommended as the studio only accommodates so many people. If the single class price is steep for your budget, check out their packages as they offer a built-in discount. Also, first timers can try out a monthly on a discount. For the yogis or yogis in training, you may be interested in their training program. Personally, I'm not a fan of virtual movement classes because I prefer to be in-person, but for those on a shoe string budget that may an option. Either way, I LOVE People's Yoga! She has such a warm, welcoming personality super friendly and clearly knows what she's doing. My legs were literally shaking after the workout (in the best way ) and I left feeling so accomplished. Arianna's energy is so positive, and her instructions were clear and encouraging the entire time. She made me feel really comfortable, like l've known her forever-which is a huge plus! The studio is beautiful it looks like what I imagine all the west side Pilates studios would look like. On February 21, 2022, I did my final weight-in for my rollover challenge. After my 1st challenge I…read morelost a total of 24.8 lbs. and on this rollover challenge I lost an additional 23.3 lbs., bringing my total weight loss since November 2021 to 48.1 lbs.! I am only 10 lbs. away from my recommended ideal weight and will be moving on to do a Hardbody challenge, to try and lose 5% Body Fat, along with those remaining 10 lbs. I wouldn't have been able to reach each one of my past 2 goals without the help and support of the ELA Camp staff. From Sandy's cheerful greeting and encouragement at 5:00am, George's encouragement to the killer stations and buy-ins from each of the amazing trainers, Jesse, Roman, Adriana, Juanito, Carlos and the guest trainers. They all seem to really care and somehow appear next to me when I find myself about to give up, giving me a nudge to finish that station or to do that last Burpie! I am so happy with my on-going transformation and can't hardly wait to complete this next challenge. I'm definitely a Camp-Lifer!
