A big part of it was the marketer who was not only helpful and communicative, but also enthusiastic about the building and the care staff. She helped them navigate various aspects of relocating our loved one, the pros and cons of different senior living communities and really highlighted the quality care provided by her staff. What ultimately sold us on this community was the memory care. We decided that it would be best to choose a community that had assisted living and memory care in one building so, if the time ever came, it would be a smoother transition should that level of care be needed. Although the building is a bit older, it is well taken care of and has a beautiful courtyard for residents and families to enjoy. I highly recommend taking a tour if you're considering assisted living homes for your loved one!

Over the past 15 years I've had the privilege of working closely with their team and witnessing the high standard of care they provide to their residents. What impresses me most is their consistent professionalism and attention to detail. The staff is always responsive, organized, and proactive when it comes to handling insurance-related matters--making the process smooth not just for vendors like myself, but most importantly, for the residents and their families. Beyond the administrative side, it's clear that the environment at Park Regency retirement, is one built on compassion and respect. Every time I'm on-site, I see smiling faces, meaningful interactions, and a real sense of community. It's obvious that the residents are well cared for--not just physically, but emotionally and socially as well. They're a fantastic partner and an even better resource for families seeking quality assisted-living options.

I'm thrilled to report that Morningside continues to meet, and very often exceeds, our very high expectations. Here are a few tips/learnings since my 2025 update. Tip #1 - My parents have a Kaiser Medical Advantage Plan. I learned recently there are some nuances to their medical coverage at Morningside's onsite Skilled Nursing facility as well as Park Vista. We've opted to keep my parents enrolled in Kaiser because they've had the same PCPs for over 25 years. Be sure you understand the potential financial ramifications if you're a Kaiser patient. Tip #2 - Do yourself a favor and ask to work with Monica Silva in the Marketing Department. She'll guide you every step of the way. She also remains an invaluable resource long after you enter Morningside as a new resident. Now on to my 2026 update as my parents start year 3 at Morningside. Over the past year, both parents have experienced minor medical emergencies necessitating EMT visits to their home. Living in NorCal, it's very reassuring to know that a quick call to the front gate and/or simply knocking off the phone receiver in either bathroom results in an immediate visit from one of Morningside's 24/7 EMTs. Several of their EMTs are current medical students. While the food selection/quality has declined a tad bit over the years, it's still very good, and Morningside's waitstaff are beyond kind and patient. My parents enjoy the entire F&B team, and they especially adore Victor and twins Liz and Melissa because they cater to their every needs. When the guest room experienced an unexpected maintenance issue on the day we were scheduled to arrive, Olga called me that morning and arranged our stay at a nearby hotel at Morningside's expense. She also provided us with breakfast coupons for the duration of our 3-night stay since our hotel room didn't include breakfast. There was a recent situation that prompted me to reach out to Sal in Housekeeping. Since I was onsite, I asked Sal for an in-person meeting and Sal arranged for us to meet the very next day. He also invited Morningside's Executive Director (Chris Oakeson) to our meeting because it involved a sensitive staffing issue. After listing to my concerns, Sal and Chris promptly addressed the issue to my full satisfaction. I could go on and on, suffice it to say my parents are absolutely thrilled to live at Morningside. My mother who has difficulty making friends is thriving in her new community. These are my father's actual words when I asked him how he liked living there, "You know, I lay in bed some days asking myself if I deserve to be so happy and live such a carefree life in this beautiful place!" I think that says it all. :)

This includes managing my mother's numerous medications. They also work hard to create a social environment with residents sharing meals and activities when possible. Through recent renovations, they have created a beautiful and warm environment for the residents. This includes the addition of new flooring, paint, furniture, plumbing fixtures and additional lighting. They also have added exterior cameras and sensors to ensure the security of the residents. Aria makes sure that all rooms, clothing and bedding are cleaned regularly. My mom enjoys the freshly made meals that are cooked on the premises by the staff. Well planned meals are served three times a day. They make sure my mother receives food tailored to her health needs. Another big plus is that my mom is part of the Providence-St. Jude Health system. She is now only a few files away from her doctors' offices and St. Jude Hospital.

What stands out to us is that the care goes beyond the normal day-to-day. When our family member was hospitalized, we reached out to the Sunny Crest team for help communicating with the medical team. Brenda partnered with us and was willing to speak with the care providers and skilled nursing staff to better understand what would be needed for our family member's recovery and how Sunny Crest could support the post-care plan when they returned. Having them work with us and the medical team during that process meant a lot to our family and gave us peace of mind. One of the things that really touched us was seeing how genuinely happy everyone was when our family member returned. From the front desk and nursing staff to management and the restaurant staff, everyone seemed genuinely excited to see them and welcomed them back. It really felt like they were returning to a community where people knew them and cared about them. We also believe family involvement is an important part of assisted living. Sunny Crest is an assisted living community, not a hospital, a locked-down facility, or a memory care unit. Family members still have an important role to play by staying involved, advocating for their loved ones, and maintaining communication with the care team. We've found that Sunny Crest is willing to work with us as partners, and that makes a big difference. We appreciate the people at Sunny Crest who care for our family member and the way they support both our loved one and our family. We're very thankful to the entire team, Melanie, Brenda, Diana, Blanca, and so many more.

She's a wonderful, independent, intelligent and bright woman with all her faculties and wits still about her. She's almost 95! Grandma is picky and only likes certain foods and has a bit of OCD when it comes to the way things should be and with cleanliness. Heck, she's done her own thing for over 45 years, do you blame her! She's got every right to do it her way. A few months ago, she had a little health set-back and to just keep things safe while family was out of town for a long length of time, my parents decided to have her stay here for "just a month or two" to be watched over while they were out of town. I don't think she was there more than just a day when she announced that she loved it at the Villa and wanted to make it permanent! What!!?? That was awesome news!!! We wouldn't have to worry about her being home alone ever again. Since that first proclamation of love, she has rarely made any comments as to being unhappy with her new permanent living arrangement. She loves the food, loves the views and is perfectly content with every aspect. We wish she'd go play Bingo or Yahtzee with the others, but she's her own woman and used to spending her days doing what she wants. It took her a bit of adjusting to consider it a forever place, but she did just fine and has made it her home... both physically and mentally. They keep her room cleaned, any complaints are addressed and meals have been more than adequate for her and her picky tastes and likes. She's thrilled! There are several floors of residents all in different states of mind, body and life. The hallways are clear and clean. The staff is always tending to the Villa; cleaning, checking on residents and keeping things tip top. The front desk staff have always greeted me and my family with a smile and even remember who we are there to see. They even know her likes and dislikes too. Grandma loves her digs and I haven't seen her this happy (consistently) in a long time. She's back to being a happy lady again and enjoying her golden years in a peaceful, clean and enjoyable home.
