I went in person three times and had multiple video consultations. My ear mildly improved but was still not healed. I went to my dermatologist who promptly took a culture and a few days later I was diagnosed with shingles. It's odd to me why none of the practitioners at One Medical did not think of running this one simple test. Due to that fact, I ended up incurring expensive medical bills. When I reached out to discuss this issue, I got no response initially and then finally someone responded back after I followed up with them. Ultimately, they thought that my medical care was adequate. The customer service was so surprising because I've been a client of theirs for many years. Back in the day, their practice was predominantly doctors and now all you can see are nurse practitioners. I'm not disrespecting nurses but I would expect a practice to actually have more doctors who would be more knowledgeable and understand the types of test that needs to be run.

How could they not know this earlier and reach out to reschedule? They just expect me to take time off again during a work week to come in? I chose the membership because I wanted a more efficient way to see doctors but they made it harder and more difficult than just any traditional doctor's office out there. On the phone with an administrative assistant, complained about the situation and asked to speak with someone about cancelling the membership. She did not even try to keep me as a member at all, and didn't even bother to let me speak anyone. All I knew was my membership is canceled and I will get the refund. I rush to see a PA, who felt it was necessary to rule out a blood clot, which I felt was odd. I went due to anxiety over my health for reassurance it's just a rash- and I felt like you probably don't get blood clots on top of your foot? Next thing I know, I'm getting a D-Dimer test (clot time) and a venous Doppler ultrasound. After the blood test comes back normal, a different PA who gave me the results sends me a message saying, "Maybe you spilled some lime juice or a margarita on your foot?" (Both of these PAs were super nice by the way!) The ultrasound tech then does their thing and gives me a thumbs-up, saying, "Looks like a rash, just go see a dermatologist." Fast-forward to the dermatologist's office, and - plot twist - the redness has vanished like a magic trick. I'm left standing there, foot looking perfectly normal. But I've got the proof and evidence - photos of the rogue redness, taken with the precision of a photojournalist capturing one of the biggest events in history. I even brought the socks I had on when this happened, still stuffed in my bag, and show them to the dermatologist. The dermatologist examines my foot, notices the rash's shape based on the photos, and says, "I think I know the culprit. The rash is right where Hello Kitty's image was." I nod, and the dermatologist looks at the socks, confirming his suspicion. "You've got contact dermatitis - a reaction to the dye in these socks. By the way, where did you get them?" I reply, "Five Below discount store." The dermatologist nods, "That explains it." Public Service Announcement: Spend more than $1 on your socks, fellow feet users. Your skin might thank you. (It might just be sensitive me, though) P.S. I found out you can't get a blood clot in the top of your foot. There are no major veins there! The dermatologist told me PAs often may not even be aware of this due to lack of adequate education and training. Another thing learned! Summary : *Type of Care:* Urgent Care/Primary Care *Quality:* The PA was very nice, and the office experience was great - easy to get an appointment and a pleasant atmosphere. However, the quality of care was lacking, as the PA initially considered a possible blood clot in the top of my foot, which isn't even possible due to the anatomy of the foot. *Office Experience Recap:* The office was very nice, and the PA was friendly. Getting an appointment was easy, which was a plus. Despite the positive experience, I wouldn't go back for something like this again, especially when it involves considering diagnoses that aren't even feasible given the symptoms and anatomy. For skin-related issues, I'd likely go straight to a dermatologist.

When I spoke to Labcorp, they told me the bill was because the office incorrectly entered the order and did not submit the required pre authorization, so now I was being charged the full out of pocket amount. I've called One Medical 10+ times over 6 weeks to resolve the issue and each time I've been told they're working on it and they'd get back to me soon but no one has ever called back, shared an update or made any progress. Unfortunately due to the error of this location I currently owe a several hundred dollar bill that should have been covered. I've been told it's in the hands of this location manager but they also have not communicated anything to me or shared any update.

Over that time, I became grateful for their accessibility, either through tele-health or on the phone; the ability to actually schedule an appointment less than two months out; and the human conversations I was able to have with my principal care provider. But... since the Amazon takeover, my experience has soured greatly. About 5 or 6 years ago, I had begun to notice that providers seemed to be under more pressure to see more patients in less time. I attributed it to the network's growing popularity. But now, post-Amazon, all legacy phone numbers for individual offices now flow into a national system where nobody answers. After 20+ minutes of waiting, you usually end up with the only option of leaving a message and hoping someone calls you back within a day, or just hanging up. Only the most determined person gets to speak with a human being. And worst of all... the list of insurance plans which they do not accept has become (according to the one person I spoke with) "shockingly long." Of course, my plan is now one of them. So I cancelled my membership. And within seconds, my access to the app was shut off. One Medical, it seems, is quick to transact, but reticent to serve. I used to be a strong advocate for One Medical. And it's a tragedy what they've become. I certainly hope they either return to their previous state of service, or that a competitor fills this space.

In a difficult process, I finally found a way to navigate their difficult patient portal and schedule an appointment which was six months further down the road. A week before that appointment, I received a call from HSS telling me that the specific doctor did not accept my medical insurance and that they canceled the appointment and would not provide me assistance in finding another doctor on staff that did accept my insurance. Months later, I decided to try again. I called the main phone number and a girl named Carly assisted being scheduling an appointment and finding a doctor that did take my insurance. I explained my condition and history to her and was grateful for her assistance. A short time later, I received a call from HSS staff inquiring as to if I needed a knee replacement or not, I explained that I did not know and that if they could direct me to the most experienced doctor that could help make that determination would be most appreciated. Shortly thereafter, I received a third phone call saying that the doctor Ayoosh Pareek was canceling my appointment because he did not do knee surgeries. I explained that I do not know if I needed a knee surgery and they said that I had to go back to the online portal and find another doctor to kind of work my way up the chain of command. I asked for assistance in doing that saying that this would be the third time and that I have no idea what Dr would be the best choice and that it keeps extending my appointments further down the road. She explained that she understood, but that it was my task to do not hers. I personally feel that they are doing this, intentionally to set up as many medical appointments as possible with as many doctors as possible so they could make my insurance pay as much as possible to their financial benefit and not to the benefit of the patient. It makes me wonder how other people who may not be as fluent in the language or in their insurance details are treated and how much money the insurance company could potentially be milked out of! My opinion is to avoid this place at all cost if you are able!! My experience was terrible 3 times. Maybe that's a sign to find a better place for help.
