Table service. Freshly baked butter buns with grated Parmesan cheese.

This place is located in an upscale area of Cancun, far from the touristy areas of the hotels zone. It caters more to locals and people that really know the area. The venue is very cozy and romantic, specially at nights. It has a deck facing the marina, therefore the breeze and the fans cools you perfectly during meals. The music is not too loud, so you can carry a conversation, even with a live DJ. Great music BTW. The staff is great! Polite, well trained, and willing to go far and beyond to accommodate you. The menu has enough options, including starters, entrees, side dishes, soups, salads, specials and deserts. It has a mixture of seafood and steaks. We tried the fillet steak with grilled chili sauces, and the mushroom risotto, both steaks were cooked to perfection, the risotto was creamy and well seasoned. Bonus point, they have kids options as well. The table service, included a hot sauce sampler, pickled onions with habanero and a freshly baked butter bun. The sauces were great, although if you do not do spicy food try them with caution. The cherry on top, the prices are very reasonable for the quality and service. Conversely to the other options near the hotels zone. I definitely recommend this place and will come back.

Chocolate Mousse Fabulous! Very thick and rich!

We dined tonight at Montemar, I wished I would have taken more pics of appetizers and such but everything was delicious! The ambiance was warm and inviting and our server Robert was very attentive and friendly!

Table of 14 celebrating a weekend filled of jetsurf racing in the marina behind. An exceptional review doesn't need many words. With high spirits and good ones at that, great food, great company and beautiful decor. Highly recommend!!!

That's my burger. It has a tiny support burger on top? Lol

This is a great restaurant located right next to the Renaissance Hotel we were staying at. It is actually a whole mall with different stores and they had a Japanese restaurant, an upscale Mexican restaurant, a Häagen-Dazs, and a gelato place There may be more places but that is all that I saw as I hangrily came to this restaurant to satisfy a burger craving. When you are sat they bring you still or sparkling water according to your preference. We got still and asked for a lot of water and they gave it to me! I love lime in water. We had to ask for a lot of ice as well. I ordered the house hamburger. It comes with a nice sized patty, tomato, lettuce, some sweet onion jam and a big slice of red onion. I took out tho onion and some of the onion jam. It came on a dark wheat bun that was pretty sweet. I took a star off because the food was all sweet. My brother's fish and mashed potatoes were sweet, so was the salt. My burger was sweet as well. Another reason I took off a star is that the bathroom was located up the stairs. It was almost like they built the stairs and didn't know what to do so they put the bathrooms up there, lol. It's ridiculous for older or disabled patients. I may or may not be back. The desserts look delicious!

Beautiful decor, staff and great food. I overly enjoyed the octopus tacos. They were cooked to perfection. The Caesar salad was also yummy.

Amazing steakhouse. Luna the waiter was so helpful. There was 4 people in our party. I got the ribeye, it was so tender and flavorful. My friends got shrimp, Mac and cheese with crabmeat and arrichero steak. For sides we had grilled veggies, mashed potatoes, baked potato and asparagus. We had a massive Cesar salads. Everything was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was beautiful. The table was overlooking the water. Postcard perfect.

Met expectations for an upscale seafood and steakhouse. They were very accommodating for a day of reservation for a group of 20+ and had lovely outdoor seats looking onto the water. Lovely setting and very large menu of upscale and more casual tourist Mexican options, but found the seafood and items off the grill particularly well done. Catch of the day was massive and excellently prepared red snapper with lemon and warm butter to accompany. Probably could've fed 3 or 4 people, and was one of the smaller sized catch options.

Visited for dinner Friday January 15, 2021, 8:30 pm. Located in Puerto Cancún shopping center, a friend and I stumbled upon Montemar restaurant, extremely hungry. And we're so glad we did. Upon entry, we had our temperature checked and were seated without a reservation. The ambiance was gorgeous and there was only indoor seating available without a reservation. The patio seating by the water was all booked, which was fine on a chilly evening. We scanned a QR code to view the menu, which was really cool and offered in many, many languages. The menu was VAST. The Service: Our server was Alexis, sometimes accompanied by server Diana, and was very pleasant and did the best he could with the little English he knew and the little Spanish we knew. Both of our servers were attentive all night until the end--remember you have to actually ask for your check here in Mexico. The Vibe: The music was very cool, not too loud, and gave the high-ceilinged restaurant a cool, contemporary, sexy vibe. The walls are stone, with high, red bricked archways and a bamboo ceiling. It was dark, earthy, and beautiful. Even though we sat inside, we were always only feet away from the ocean water. As we waited, a man walked up to our table with two canaries in a small cage. We think he wanted to show us a some of truck, but we declined the show. Minutes later, a slick-looking couple dressed all in black walked over to our table and greeted us. He introduced himself as Xibalba and at first, we thought he was the manager. Instead, he pulls out a deck of cards and proceeds to quickly perform two magic tricks, with the help of his assistant. It was actually really cool. He's on Instagram as @xibalba_conjurista. The Food: We were served complimentary a bread and spread assortment which was so good, I wish we had more! I had the betabel, which are roasted beets, and the salmon. The beets were plentiful, served with goat cheese and pistachios and let me tell you--somebody knows what they're doing in the Montemar kitchen. I've never had a beet combination so delicious. The best beets I've ever had, and so many that I took some home! I followed with the sous vie salmon, cooked perfectly medium, with skin on the bottom and it was VERY good but I was so full of bread and beets! I almost got the king crab, and will be returning for it. Alexis asked us multiple times, "Would you like to see it?" Wait until you see the photo of it. My friend had the guacamole and the cajun shrimp, 6 of them, which were huge and served heads on, with shells. She had to take some time to de-shell them but they were delicious. The guacamole was good too, and we took that home too to eat later. She was later offered wet naps for her hands. We alerted the waitstaff that we were celebrating a birthday and were surprised with the most delightful birthday song and dessert, complete with sparklers. This was wonderful and complimentary. The Drinks: They serve wine by the bottle only. My friend ordered a passion fruit margarita and said it was the best margarita she ever had. It even included real passion fruit chunks! I only drank bottled water, they serve Evian, 110MX per bottle. All of this, and our bill was less than $100 USD (1500MX) total, with tip. We highly recommend Montemar on your trip to Cancún, whether you're traveling with your family, friends, or want a romantic dinner. The value is incredible and we were pleased with everything. In fact, we're going back tonight! See you soon @montemarcancun!

    Pulpo

Dissatisfied The pictures and presentation looked great! Unfortunately the octopus was extremely chewy/raw, asked for it to be cooked for longer and came back just slightly less chewy. Everything else we ordered was average. The place is very cool and instagramable. But will not be coming back

This place was a really nice looking restaurant. Beautiful outside seating area with a very friendly & knowledgeable staff that speak pretty good English (which is helpful for those you don't speak Spanish). The tequila selection is out of bounds and very good pricing at that, I like how they bring the bottle to your table and pour it in front of you. We started with the beet salad which is excellent and then moved onto a New York strip that was just ok. I feel the steak could have been better since this place was a steak house but none the less all around it was a excellent night with great company.

I've been a few times now & my family loves this place! We've gone for an late lunch early dinner! The staff speaks & understands very good English. Menus are in English. The ambiance is beautiful peaceful & elegant. People are dressed in country club attire. The tacos with marrow are fantastic (2 orders every time) the bone marrow app is good size & flavor with a side of onions cilantro & peppers, but don't ignore the fresh sprig of rosemary. This last time we had a birthday so we did only apps & saved room for dessert! (See photos) my recommendation for Desserts are the churro & the donuts. We were able to share 3 Desserts between 5 people!

All-in-all it was worth the inconvenience. Very eclectic menu, warm atmosphere and outstanding service. I started withe the Mango-Tamarind: Lettuce, Indian walnut, mango, blueberries, Cotija cheese, mango-habanero dressing and tamarind billet. Unique and tasty. "Swiss Chicken Enchiladas" for the main course was not what you get at a local Mexican joint -- Four tortillas stuffed with chicken, bathed in a creamy tomatillo sauce with melted cheese and a base of refried black beans. This was a 5-star dish! I couldn't resist ordering a side dish though I didn't need to because the enchiladas were really enough, so I indulged myself with fries: these were not your run of the mill French fries. Porfirio's Potatoes -- French fries with chipotle pepper aioli, parmesan cheese and parsley. Finally, if you like ice cream I highly recommend that you order BOTH offerings: 1) "ICE CREAM TASTING" - Strawberry ice cream, chocolate ice cream from Metate, marzipan ice cream and vanilla from Papantla. Served with grated coconut, chocolate grain, M&M's, Oreo cookies and ice cream cones; and, 2) "PORFIRIO'S MOLECULAR ICE CREAM" - served with cajeta Worcestershire sauce in an ice cream cone. I took some notes and this is what I thought of the dishes. Xoajacan Imoladas - The mole is perfection. The flautas, superb. Everything in this plate is a symphony of what I would expect from Xoajaca. 9.5/10 Barbacoa Bonemarrow - Barcacoa is on point. The Marrow is Sublime. Together with the accompaniments is superb. I dream of Marrow everyday. This is a 10/10 Yellow fin Tosatadas - Superb!!! One of the best tostadas I have ever had. The microgreens, the sauce and the square Tostada works well all together. 8.8/10 Salmon - Cooked perfectly. The corn is a great accompaniment. The fish is impeccably seasoned. This dish is heaven sent with a 9.8/10 Grilled Octopus - Grilled perfectly, I can tell by the texture. The mash is superb, they used margarine instead of butter and I absolutely love the contrast from the traditional mash. 9.8/10 Mexican Rice - Its pretty good. It does have a nice seafoodish finish. The pepper was actually spicy. Nice and pleasant rice dish. 8/10 Charred Avocado Salad - Grilled avocado is a bit of a wash. It did make it look good on the plate. The dressing is a little weak. Needs a little more zip, some citrus or vinegar would give this salad some justice. Its a little uninspired 7/10 Service is impeccable and attentive and the atmosphere is lovely.

But, after debating and reading some reviews, we decided to call (at 7pm) and see if La Buena Barra had any open tables for 7:30. Since Cancún dinner culture generally ramps up after 8, we were in luck and headed to the restaurant. We were warmly greeted by the host team and escorted promptly to a great table outside, overlooking the lagoon and the last bits of sunset in the sky. The ambience of La Buena Barra is amazing, great lighting, ceiling fans to keep a light breeze going, and music that is loud enough to prevent you from hearing conversations at other tables, but still allowed us to talk just fine. Our servers Jonathan and Estefany were the sweetest and most attentive that we experienced during our trip! Excellent food recommendations, even advising against getting a second dessert (due to their size) instead of just letting us spend more money there. Absolutely worthy of 5 star service! Ok- the food: very good, probably some of the more distinct flavors we enjoyed in Cancun. Also a very unique selection of cocktails, delivered in all sorts of unique glasses. BUT truly the best thing we ate was the corn ice cream! It's molded ice cream that looks exactly like an ear of white corn with a ribbon of dulce de leche in the center- honestly the best ice cream I've ever eaten at a restaurant! Prices per person can easily exceed $1000 pesos here depending on what you get, but it's possible to enjoy the experience on a budget. We shared an appetizer (empanadas, highly recommend), shared a large entree (ribeye tacos, comes with 7), a cocktail, side of corn, and dessert- ended up being around $1200 plus tip.
