This was one of my favorite places on the trip to Isla mujeres. We had a party of 10 including four children and they were very friendly and helpful in getting everyone's situated. I got the fettuccine del mare and the garlic crusted grouper. Both were items that I would definitely get again. The octopus appetizer and the shrimp appetizer was also pretty amazing. The only item that I would pass on was the people in our group that got the hamburger weren't as thrilled. The mescalita was one of the best drinks. The Paloma not as good. Fantastic option. Very nice, comfortable setting in a family-run restaurant. There's lots of seating and the tables have some space between them. Very friendly and helpful staff who are attentive but not overly so. They have menus English and Spanish. They have a full list of cocktails, and non-alcoholic ones. The Island Pineapple is really nicely done, not overly sweet, with a dried orange and rosemary garnish. But the seared ahi steak crusted with sesame seeds was really excellent and hit the spot perfectly. It wasn't huge, it was just right. It was generously crusted with sesame seeds that stayed on. It comes with soy sauce for dipping, and wasabi and pickled ginger. It was seared perfectly, not at all overcooked. It doesn't come with carbs, which was fine. The side salad was nice, and the citrus dressing was pleasantly tart. There's a little store adjoining it where you can spend a few minutes while waiting for your food. read more

I sat at the bar tonight and was served by the bartender Frederic. I had the potato leek soup and the pear Prosecco bites which included spinach, walnuts, blue cheese, all covered in a delicious balsamic reduction sauce. Frederic made me a lovely chocolate espresso martini and packaged up Key lime pie for me to take back to my hotel room. I think what is magical about this restaurant is the atmosphere of family and joy that you feel when you are there. It's also the independent and combined flavors of fresh food that makes your mouth happy. This place has the most amazing staff. The food is out of this world. We ordered a tortilla soup and a Bolognese vegetarian pasta. Plus I had the hibiscus tea without sugar. It was amazing. **First thing first** They accept credit card for checks over 400 pesos. If you're tired of classic American Mexican food (tacos, burritos, quesadillas, etc), and are in search of a culinarily fun menu with affordable prices, this gem is FOR YOU. I had the grilled octopus entree for just under 300 pesos. 6 perfectly charred and tender pieces of tentacles (the good stuff), with a pepper sauce but it's not spicy, side of steam veggies and crispy potato strings. Pro tips: ASK FOR LIMES and squeeze all over this bad boy. It made all the flavours explode! Wow. Not sure why they don't cook it with lime juice to begin with. Chatted with a girl who had the quinoa soup and a fresh cucumber water drink. They both seem to be tasty, especially the cucumber one. Service was great. Mario the manager came by to check on me- he made my to-go hot chocolate earlier in the afternoon himself! At dinner it came with hummus with bread; don't mind it though, definitely needs more garlic and lemon juice. I find it a recurring theme that restaurants on Isla Mujeres under season their dishes. They have vegan options as well. Their homemade chips and variety of salsas are delicious as well. The margaritas were flavorful and eccentric. We had a variety of things on the menu and none of them disappointed. They also have guacamole that is very different, but so amazingly delicious! They add cucumber and celery. One word comes to mind every time I reflect on this meal; Joy. We walked in to this gem of a place, away from the scene on Hildalgo, to enjoy a nicer meal on our last night on the island. A young saxophonist and bass player provided live music on the small corner stage. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and really worked to ensure we enjoyed our time there. The art displayed around the restaurant and in the adjoining art cave gave it an eclectic vibe. Each plate was thoughtfully presented and the cocktails were beautiful. My husband enjoyed the craft beer selection (finally), which was not easily available in the North Beach area. It was pricier than the other meals, still very affordable, but we felt it was worth every penny as the flavors were amazing. If you don't come for a meal, definitely stop by for a drink and to view the art. I wish I could remember the name of our server! I was a little full for dessert but wanted something sweet. He showed me the dessert case (he told me his favorite was the cheesecake) and ultimately recommended the espresso martini as an alternative. It was perfect with flaming cinnamon sticks with the rim of cocoa. I will definitely have to return to this beautiful island and for another meal here! read more

This place is a true gem. A must for anyone looking for a nice meal on the island. The ambiance is great, the owner is so caring and engaged, and the dishes are inventive and well executed. I found myself asking where the chef had trained! We went with my 6 year old son, and then kitchen made a special effort to make a plate for him--he wanted seconds of the vegetables even! We had steak, octopus, and fish -- all very traditional and actually hard to find done well. It is a bit more expensive than other options on the island, but an incredible value for what you get. It was the best meal of our vacation, and one of the most memorable meals I've ever had in my many trips to Mexico. read more
