Hearing Examiner was not interested in receiving the transaction details from my bank statement and simply ended with "I have enough info to proceed". Days later I receive a denial of appeal and they kept the $48. My only recourse is to file a civil claim in Monterey court and pay a fee to do so. Like I need to travel to Monterey to give them more money, really? I suspect I am not the only one scammed.

As we drove up to the pay station, we were greeted by Keith, who was extremely friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The parking lot was very clean, well-maintained, and, most importantly, felt safe and secure. His professionalism and excellent customer service made a great first impression. I would highly recommend this parking lot to anyone visiting the Cannery Row area. If we return to Monterey, this will definitely be our first choice for parking. How do you pay for parking? At one of two machines on the lot. Choice of one slot or two slots cuz the lot can accommodate RVs. There are prompts at the machine. Tap the screen to wake it up. Enter your car license plate #, choose single spot or two, enter # of hours you plan to park, and finally your payment method. Easy right? I paid for two hours. $1.50 per hour. Proof of payment is a text message if you choose. No printed receipt option available. I decided not to provide my mobile #. I paid from 3pm-5pm. Wouldn't you know it? I was issued a citation for not paying. Citation issued at 4pm. Looked at my credit card transactions online. Monterey timestamped it $3.00 paid on ET. We're on PST. I went online to protest the citation upon my return home. Awaiting a decision from Monterey. Update - I'm happy to report the citation was dismissed since my initial posting just a few days ago.

The Good: *Located ±1/4‐mile from the Monterey Bay Aquarium *Approx 20 parking spots available w/ several ADA spots available *Parking spots are clearly marked The Meh: *$20 (All Day) to park in an open lot which is the same as parking in their covered parking garage. I always feel like there should be an "elements" discount when it comes to parking. *They only have an ''All Day" option. *The spots are clearly numbered but the machine never asks what space # you're parked in, so honestly why bother numbering them? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The Ugly: *When we visited, the machine wasn't spitting out receipts to place on your dashboard--which left me wondering the whole time if I was going to come back to find a parking ticket on my windshield. And yes, I did leave a note for the meter maid (is that PC to say?) explaining I paid but no receipt was given. Tldr: Street parking is preferable (i.e., cheaper) on Cannery Row (unless you're really planning on spending 8hrs there) but when that's not available this lot is a good 3rd option.
