    Mystery section of the library

As an avid reader, I love the feel of the actual book in my hand turning the pages and the scent of the older books. With that said, I seemed out the closest library to my home, unfortunately not within walking distance, but not too far by car. Initially, when I walked inside I was a bit taken aback by the open space, but then it hit me they had to structure the space due to covid to keep people from sitting on top of each other, so I welcomed the space. It is easy to get to, and it is named after the county of Montgomery, there are lots of parking spaces, and handicapped accessible. It's a nice library, they still adhered to wearing a mask, recommended, but not enforced, to wear a mask at your discretion. The staffs are friendly and helpful and their checkout stations are state-of-the-art and up-to-date systems and very user-friendly. I recommend this library because I feel safe here and it's my favorite spot to hang out to get my books and read. Currently, I'm reading Colleen Hoover the author of "Maybe Now" and I recently read volume 10 "Finding Perfect" by her. There are 8 more volumes by her. I recommend her books. 5

I came here today for a staff meeting, and only spent my time in a meeting room on the second level. In addition, I also used the restroom. I used to go to the library when I lived in the county, but hadn't been back since four yrs ago. It was my first time here after the renovations were completed. It is a very nice facility. You walk in and there are tables in the lobby before you step foot into the library. There is also a courtesy charging station. On the second level there are meeting rooms, classrooms, and the Charles Gilchrist Immigration Resource Center. The room we were in today came equipped with a smart station and screen from what I could see. It was a little challenging to hear given the room was so large. It was also a bit chilly in there. Overall I was very impressed with the amenities and resources the library now provides. I wish it was that nice when I grew up in the area. One note, if there is a big meeting or event parking can be limited, but I was informed by colleagues that parking is available in the business parking lot adjacent to the library.

I went to the new library today and was quite pleased to see the new place. My expectations were that it would be more like the Rockville location but it definitely has its own personality. I took a ton of pictures so you can check them out to see what it looks like. They still have a lot of selves to fill so that was strange to see how much space was empty but hey, it's a work in progress. It is smaller than I thought and is just the one level for general use. The upper level is dedicated to community room space but I'm not sure about the requirements to reserve the spaces. I was a bit annoyed because I wanted to get a group study room for my group of 6 and all the rooms were taken by singles using the space as homework or office space. Hopefully they will remedy that soon. The teen room was a hit for my girls but they were annoyed that every book just about involved romance and sex or were fantasy type books. I hope the library will invest in some good clean teen reading that doesn't involve relationships and sex activity or too much fantasy if that's not your thing. The Discovery room aka play room was a great thing to see but when I went in a lady was in there with her two kids and said she had the space reserved until noon and that we have to reserve the space. We reserved it for the next available time slot of 1pm to 2pm and she was kind enough to let us in the room to play with her children until her time expired. Later on when I was in there I did the same and had two different families join me. It was 5 kids and 3 adults and the kids all played nicely. I'm sure there must be some rhyme or reason to this policy but I just haven't figured it out yet. One thing I love about this library is that they have a little café with tables and chairs right at the entrance! It makes sense because there isn't really anywhere you can go easily for a drink or a quick bite. As of today it was cash only but they are working on being able to accept other forms of payment. Woohoo!! I think all future libraries should have this option, especially since you can't brown bag it when you have a marathon library session going on. As a homeschool mom I am sure we will be here a lot. I look forward to discovering and enjoying more things at this library. It's been long awaited and long overdue for the Gaithersburg area.

The Rec Center: Overall, I liked the layout of the rec center, and the folks that helped with getting a card were SUPER friendly and helpful. While I have not officially used the rec center, I was a bit disappointed with the the size of the weight room. The size of the weight room reminds of a weight room that one would find in a hotel. However, the gym did look like it had everything that one would need for a decent workout. Also, I was a bit surprised that the rec center does not open until 9 am on weekdays (and Saturday). Based on my prior rec center experiments, I'm used to rec centers opening from 5:30 to 7 am. Then again, perhaps, these hours are for the summer months. The Library: Again, the librarian who signed me up for a card was very friendly. Also, I loved how she gave me a very thorough overview of this branch's services and resources. Although I was in the library for only a few minutes, I thought it was very well organized.

This was our first time here and I did not know that this was more than just a library. Well first of all the library was great and my daughter was quite excited to read one of her favorite books to me. After reading we explored this place as something for everyone.....ping pong tables pool table, video games, basketball courts, indoor track, weight room, lots of event rooms and a playground outside for the little ones. The staff there were very friendly. Will definitely be back.

The architecture is really interesting, modern, and lovely, including lots of windows--which give the library tons of natural light and expansive view of the outside--and unique designs throughout. There's even a bridge outside connecting one area of the holding to the other. The library is also handicapped accessible and has a huge parking lot. There's a sign out front that says "no vaping"--must have been an issue enough times to necessitate a sign. I picked up a book that I placed on hold without much trouble and checked out with no lines. An ideal experience. The checkout staff was willingly helpful and friendly.

I don't check out books here often, just mostly haven come here as a study space. Wifi is free and works fine. Their open study area is very limited with about 5 tables. They do have an individual side quiet study room with about 10 individual desks. However, due to its location in the building, you can't easily view outside. The windows are higher so light definitely comes in but I like to look up and occasionally day dream while working and that isn't possible from their quiet study room. It often gets busy and filled early on weekends so I recommend getting here early. Parking is plentiful and I've never had an issue.

I never had a single one of my khan academy videos give me the "loading" signal. I'm military so they gracefully granted me a card even though I don't have a state address but i feel compelled to say usually there is a 10$ out of state fee. The only thing bad I can say about this location is that it was hot the first time I went (like 90+ outside) and it smelled a little stale inside. It's not THE MOST beautiful high tech library I've ever seen but honestly if it was it wouldn't be so welcoming.

On my last visit I arrived shortly after 10am on a Tuesday morning (when their website said they opened) and there was already a crowd of ladies with their toddlers and preschoolers waiting for the stories and songs to begin. That would be okay if they stayed in the children's section, but no, once that class was filled the ones that decided to hang out for the 11:00 toddler time class just set their charges free in the rest of the library. Since the public libraries don't carry professional periodicals and journals I needed to do some online research. This library has several web-connected computers to use, only they are out in the open, not in a private room. The problem with that is when a nanny decides to leave her baby stroller (with baby intact) parked behind you while she peruses the chic lit, it can get annoying, especially if the toddler is calling out to deaf ears. As for the library itself, it does its job: lend books. It is easy to get to (not by Metro) and has plenty of free parking.
