Zero stars; not child friendly at all! They have two discovery rooms that need to be reserved in advance, there are no shared toys your kids can use. Librarian at front desk was not helpful. Just an awful library--why are we funding this crappy place? The library management needs to reevaluate or have the doors closed. It's also an ugly and uninviting space. read more

While I had a great time studying at the library, the atmosphere was mostly peaceful. I had run into a bad employee at the library who shouted at me for entering at 10:00 which soured my entire experience. I still recommend going to this library for anybody needing a quiet place to read or study. Just be aware that you might run into unpleasant people. read more

I had the pleasure of stopping by the Germantown Branch and found the Audio Book i was searching for right away! There is ample outdoor parking in the private lot and many seating areas. Books were very-well organized, the staff encountered were pleasant and eager to help. read more

Germantown library is so wonderful! Ms. Miranda and all of the other librarians are incredibly friendly and helpful. Raising my daughter in this area, it's been wonderful to be able to go to this library. We've enjoyed programs. Like story time and read to a dog. I love libraries! Like seriously love them. So much so that I'm often considering getting my master's degree in it, but I digress. This appears to be a new building with a very interesting interior. To reach each of the three levels, you ascend up a large spiral staircase. The library is comfortable and airy with lots of natural sunlight. They offer a great selection of items, including DVDs and CDs, as well as downloadable content like ebooks and audiobooks. I've already downloaded a cookbook and a decorating book, and I borrowed a fair amount of DVDs too (both movies and tv shows). They have a nice selection of titles, and I was able to borrow a few new ones. If anything is unavailable, you can place yourself on a waiting list. You'll be contacted once it's available and can come by to pick it up from the main floor. The bottom floor consists of the book sale area (honesty policy; buy a book and leave the payment in a box), the main desk, the children's area, and some rooms where I assume meetings are held, just up the steps is the teen/ya area, and on the top floor is the the adult fiction and nonfiction area, DVDs, CDs, periodicals (including magazines), several computers, and some private study rooms. The bathrooms are clean and the building is kept tidy. The employees are courteous and helpful, and most of the other patrons are generally the same. In the front vestibule, they have some large bins for food donations (non-perishables only, eyeglass donations, and some local newspapers. Just outside the door are two slots for returning your items when they are closed or when you're in a hurry. Very convenient. I wish they offered a few additional services like free computer classes, crafting classes, and other helpful seminars like at the New York Public Library and the Orange County Library System in Orlando, FL. However, with smaller budgets for libraries these days, I'm just happy to have this available at all! read more

I come to Germantown library on almost every weekend. The library is very spacious, and has a decent selection of books and DVDs. There are a few large study rooms, where I usually read or work on my laptop. The library also has a good section of Chinese language books, and even some DVDs in Chinese language. This is especially valuable for some of my family members whose English are pretty limited. The library is also located at a convenient location with several restaurants nearby, so that I don't have to drive far for lunch or dinner. read more

This is a well-organized and overall great library which is located in the middle of Germantown Town Center. The library itself has three floors, with the children's section on the bottom floor, the young-adult/graphic novels on the middle floor, and the rest of the library books on the top floor. Free wi-fi and computer access, study/meeting rooms, and a large collection of DVDs. The librarians are quite efficient at the book check out line and my holds are always easy to find. Stop by for the monthly book sale on the first Saturday of every month! read more

solid kids section. Not as interactive as the Frederick Library, but two play rooms, tons of books, and lots of comfy spaces to sit and ready to your kid(s). Plus the shelves seem to be very nicely kept and have several copies of most books... My particular kid also liked the computers. read more

This library is one of my telework locations, so the free wi-fi is very important to me. You can telework in 2 areas: The Quiet Room which is small stalls in a row. But it is extremely quiet. Or telework just outside the Quiet Room at a table with electrical outlets popping up through the middle of the table. It's more spacious and as a teleworker, I am not bothered by noise. There is something about the employees at this MC branch that are not as friendly as the other branches. Perhaps it's the size -- maybe they get 300% more folks and kids than the other branches -- maybe when the Gburg branch closed, Gtown had to absorb the overflow. I like teleworking from this branch because of the nearness of the many nice places to get lunch. read more

It's a shame, the library is such a nice place and looks nice but the staff is extremely rude. The older woman with an accent had the most nastiest attitude. I don't know why she still works there, I know she hates it there. She completely went off on me and my friends who were studying for no reason. She could politely tell us the library is closing. I don't usually like going to older libraries because there is sort of musty feel to them but this one is quite nice. There's somewhat of an open floor plan and a lot of little tables for you to study on. Two quiet rooms are available as well as some study rooms you can reserve for free. Nice selection of books. This library is conveniently located in the heart of the Germantown Town Center, across the street from a Safeway and several restaurants. So this library has a decent amount of people traffic. Since the library opened about two years ago, it's pretty spacious and clean. It has one of the better DVD collections of all the Montgomery County libraries I've been to though I've been to other libraries in other counties that have better selections. So don't count on getting the recent movie releases. It has at least twenty workstation computers to use the internet. The wait line to use the computers goes pretty quickly. There are two quiet study rooms and several small group meeting rooms you can reserve. And the kids library has its own separate floor. read more

The library is clean and well organized. I wish there was more study space. During peak library hours (after work and school) this place gets crowded and you have to play musical chairs sometimes. The quiet study areas are the best place to study and you can usually find a spot. I am someone who has to study for 10-12 hours a day. This place is conveniently located in the Germantown Town Center, so there are a lot of places to get lunch and coffee. My only true dislike is that this library is frequented by the homeless. My husband found a man taking a sponge bath/shower in the men's bathroom. Also, there is a lot of gross stuff I've seen people do with the water fountain. Bring your own FULL water bottle if your a germaphobe like me. read more

The Bathroom (female )in the top level always reeks, they need to put an air freshener dispenser. It was like going to potter potty. I come here to study 4 days a week and it always seems as though that the air is off. I recommend bringing a cold drink and breathable clothing because you will be suffering in the silent room. read more

Wow is this a great library. I ended up here on a work assignment, and was immediately in awe when walking in. Not only was the staff friendly and helpful, the place is beautiful and very organized. It was a great set up and spacious enough to offer additional recreational services. This is a great library, and would love if this was my local library. It is also located in a convenient town square, with places to shop and dine. Parking was generous and easy to navigate. read more

I just took my toddler to a Story Time for the first time after having gone to this library to hang out in the kids' section for months. It was great!! The librarian who read and sang with the kids acted as though she loved being there. The library is usually really clean and I have never been treated rudely or felt unwelcome. The building itself has great architecture and is in a great area (especially when it's nice and warm out, it's fun to walk around the library). I gave it only four stars for not having more events compared to other libraries within Mont co and in other surrounding counties. Maybe it's a budget thing? Oh, I wish they had the IRS Forms & Instruction Booklets, but that's the IRS being lame, not the library. read more

This library is very clean and nice . It's some weird people who come in here though . The people who work here are friendly . I believe I saw Good selection of DVDs . The movies they have seem classic . I turned around to see what type of movies they have and furious 7 stood out ! Love that movie i should have rented it since i don't have HBO anymore. Great open spaces, and I love that I can reserve books on the web site from home and pick up in person once they are available.

I like the library itself has great book selection and nice rooms to book for groups however the employees are not so welcoming well one employee is not so welcoming. Three times in a row I encountered the same woman an elderly white woman with a short grey hair cut at the front desk and she has never said hello, how are you etc. when I drop off books for return she's very short with me and when I'm checking out my books she's very rude. I usually go with a friend so end up waiting for her to check out her books and they're two people at the desk so she goes with the other and that lady has always been so nice to everyone. I Watch the rude lady and see how she interacts with others and she's nice warm and friendly with them. I find it very offensive that she treats me differently every time I go I can't help but think it's because I wear a scarf. This is unacceptable. read more

Great library! This library is clean and bright on the inside. The children's area is wonderful. There is a fish tank, appropriate size chairs/tables for children and parents to sit and read, and computers with programs for children. They have 2 children's rooms for kids to play that can be reserved. Adult section is more than adequate with a good selection of DVDs too. Employees are friendly too. Located in a cute section of town across from many shops and restaurants. read more

the library is ok- it has computers- not a lot though but just enough. the liberians are helpful and friendly at times- seems like the service they render depends on their mood that day. they have self check out which is great b/c the lines for checkout can get long. their kids section is good- went there with my little cousins a few times before- nice selections of books. their young adult/teen section is a bit tiny but its not that bad. i used to hang out in their teen section to read/do homework when i was back in high school. their quite study rooms aren't that bad- at least they have em. over all the library isn't that bad- this new library is better then the old germantown library that was in the social services building thats for sure!!!!!!!! read more
