I was skeptical he would be able to sit without sedation. Dr. Holdbrook and his staff were patient with my questions (and my mistake with the insurance information) and very kind to my son. Dr. Holdbrook is both kind and grounded and the perfect combination for a young boy who got his first crown without complaint. Before the appointment my son was saying he wouldn't go through with it. My daughter asked: why are you naming some of my teeth numbers and others letters? Dr. Shapiro kindly answerd "Letters are the baby teeth you still have and numbers are your grown up teeth" Even when we had differing opinions on care planning for my daughter's teeth she was respectful and understanding of my views. They also included my daughter in the care and planning of her dental care by offering choices of toothpastes like Bugglegum, Apple, Orange, and grape. When we called to schedule a cleaning after our child reported tooth pain, we were told the next available appointment was more than three months out and that we could only be placed on a waitlist. We ended up finding another dental provider who was able to see us the same week and discovered a cavity. We have also had billing issues here in the past. Given the scheduling problems and previous concerns, we will not be returning.

Sea Of Smiles got us in within a few days for checkups and then scheduled their followup appointments for work to be done within a week and a half. That's unheard of in the pediatric dentistry field. It was taking a month plus at their old dentist and dentist hours were extremely limited. The front staff is so very helpful and explain everything you need to know. Dr. Patel is amazing. He explains everything, makes the kids feel comfortable and even remembered my son's dental situation (which tooth needed work) without even looking at the chart weeks later when speaking to him. Both times we were there, we were in and out in a short amount of time and the waiting room has iPads for kids to play while waiting. I am SO glad we switched. My 15-year-old son said I really like this dentist. It's hard to get a 15-year-old boy to say he likes anything, let alone a dentist. Lol.

I faced outrageous treatment when I took my daughter who chipped her front tooth to this doctor. It…read morewas a costly job so initially I was relieved when the friendly staff told me that they have a credit plan that they can offer me and that they offer to all their regular patients. However, once the doctor who had not heard my conversation with the staff glanced at me from down the hall everything changed. He walked over to the the people at the front desk and let them know that he could not offer me any credit. Suddenly, the offer of credit that the that his staff had offered was withdrawn. I had a history of paying him in full in the past for smaller jobs so there was no logical reason for this reversal. I believe I was denied the service that they typically give "all" their patients ...remember that's what the administrative staff told me ..because of the color of my skin. I believe they withdrew the offer because the doctor saw that I was black. The timing was almost immediate. When I confronted the staff with my beliefs they just laughed at me and said that I was ridiculous but could give no other logical explanation. If you are someone doesn't wish to support businesses that treat people differently based on their appearance stay away from this guy.
