Montgomery Village is a beautiful place not just for shopping, dining but to also merely stroll around and admire the nicely decorated windows of the boutique stores. There is a new Apple Store in Montgomery Village, which one can visit (though I still like the layout, lighting and staff of the one at the Santa Rosa Mall). We like to go to MV for dining mostly but this place has a lot more to offer. read more

This outdoor shopping center is under new ownership, and is going through a major revamp. I love the local brands that are still there (including Avid Coffee, Wild Honey Mercantile, and Punch Clothing ) and I hope they can all survive with bigger brands coming in. I still need to check out local eateries Montis and Sea Thai Bistro. Since we don't have a major mall in Sonoma County, it is exciting to have access to some of the newer, bigger brand stores including Anthropologie, Free People, Vuori, Mendocino Farms, Salt & Straw, and more. I recently visited on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and needless to say, it was BUSY and the parking lots were pretty full. I did appreciate seeing so many locals out with kids and pets enjoying the weather, creating community, and supporting the local economy. read more

There's no cell service here, which is a pain because many of the businesses require internet to place orders or pay. Otherwise this upscale open air mall is pretty nice. Fix the cell service and it'd be 5 stars. read more

Although the shopping center is suffering the effects of the economy, as evidenced by numerous closed stores, there are still a few interesting finds. Monty's is great for a bite, as is Sea Thai Bistro (along with other restaurants that I haven't tried as yet). See's Candies is always a hit. Bargain shopping at Ross. DON'T BOTHER SHOWING UP AFTER 6PM IF YOU EVER NEED TO USE A BATHROOM! I've avoided this place for years... I'm not a part of the "Oldmont" crowd, who are their main customer base. It's all old people stuff for old people. If it wasn't for the bagel store and the bookshop I would never go there. So... I'm at an event that starts at 7pm. I ask "Is there a bathroom I can use?" The directions sounded like "Over the hill and through the woods and take a left at the mountain"... and I was given a code number for the lock. After about 5 minutes of aimless wondering, we find the door. But guess what? They are only open until 6pm. Now I know - the Oakmont crowd retires early - but this seems extreme. To recap: You have a sanctioned event starting at 7pm but their are no open bathrooms. What is up with this, MV management? Are you supporting your stores and visitors? Or are you saying "GO HOME" to everyone who shows up after 6pm? No wonder so many businesses fail here... one more just this week! RIP: Thai Bistro Get a clue, Montgomery Village management company. Gorgeous shopping center with lots of quality small businesses. I always shop and dine here whenever I'm in the area.

Not worth going here. Almost all the parking spots are compact so if you a truck or suv like most people you are screwed. There is not enough parking for this place. They also lost one of the great steakhouse's Cattlemen's. This place is joke just stay away. read more

Montgomery Village has vastly improved over the years the addition of Acre Coffee and Penzeys Spices , The free entertainment and music and definitely cleanliness of the courtyard area as well as plenty of parking invites one to shop here. The renovation seems to be far more appealing than anything City Of Santa Rosa Has attempted to do in the courtyard Square downtown that's for sure! This review isn't all for what Montgomery Village is now, but mostly what it used to be. I grew up in Bennett Valley and have tons of fond memories of Montgomery Village growing up. Let's remanence shall we? The Lucky Grocery Store has been there as long as I can remember. I believe it used to be an Albertsons, but it's all the same. I used to go to High Tech Burrito after high school for something to eat, and it's always been mediocre. The Juice Shack next door is WAY better than Jamba Juice. Go there. I spent most of my time wandering through Ross (main department store) as a teen, and you can access it from both sides of the mall. There used to be a KB Toys next to it, but it's long gone now. There was also a Cafe Des Croissants across from that, but that's closed now as well. Oh, but there's still like 5 banks in the small shopping center. What gives? I remember the long lines snaking out of Cold Stone Creamery when it first opened. It's still good. There was a small toy store next to it that we used to start in line for for Beanie Babies out in the cold, but I'm not sure if it's still there. I remember when Copperfields Books opened at Montgomery Village, but I never really shopped there because I find them expensive. I used to browse around a lot though. There is a Sonoma Bagel location which is good and I used to regularly visit, as well as a Round Table Pizza across the way which has been there forever. I used to buy all my shoes at Colombo's Shoes until they closed. The Classic Duck is there now. I always remember the Sees Candy Store being there and it's always been great. There is still a Sharper Image store which is surprising, as well as a Radio Shack. Really brings you back a few decades. I've visited the Post Office location here 1,294,350 times. There was a good bread store across the street but it's gone the way of the dinosaur. The Japanese Restaurant is still there though. What stores do you remember? read more

Montgomery Village is a lovely "old style", open air, shopping center in the heart of Santa Rosa, CA featuring 75 retail and commercial outlets including a supermarket, 12 restaurants, five banks, a locally owned bookstore, and a satellite U.S. Post Office. The restaurants in the center are some of our favorites with cuisines ranging from Pizza to Asian Fusion. Most are casual, with at least one that we'd rate as "fine dining". Not only is it a lovely and effective space, but Montgomery Village also gives back to the community with free concerts in the summer and raises a substantial amount of money for charity. read more

Old time outdoor shopping center with an interesting array of shops. Some stores you will find in a 'typical" mall others are unique to Montgomery Village. One of my wife's favorite stores Talbots) is here and I always find some good stuff in Sonoma Outfitters. A real plus for Montgomery Village is the variety of free concerts that happen on Saturday and Sunday around noon and every other Thursday at 5:30 pm. This past Thursday the band Tainted Love had the crowd rocking and dancing to their cover list of 80's and 90's hits. No doubt indoor malls have their place and are convenient, especially in winter and during bad weather but give me an outdoor mall on a sunny 80 degree day anytime! read more

This shopping center is really nice. Lots of stores, a little more on the classy side (meaning $$$$), but there is also a Ross and Lucky's. During the weekends there's live music and the walkways are covered so you're not being beamed down by the harsh sun rays when you're walking around. It's a really cute plaza to walk around, there's two sides which are split by the street, but a convenient cross walk connecting the two. It's nice to sit at a cafe outside on a warm day and just hang out, but it you get allergies, beware! It'll get really bad anywhere if you're outside for a while. read more

What a nice place to listen to some Rock n' Roll music. People were actually dancing and enjoying music in the outdoors with the water mist. It was about 94 degrees. My husband and I who are in our late 50's,liked to stroll and window shop on some evenings,often returning to buy something if it caught our eye the next day when the shops were open.We Love the Boudin Sandwich shop and enjoyed the Summer weekend musical tribute bands such as "Petty Theft" and others.Great Nostalgia. Unfortunately our peaceful ambiance was greatly disturbed last night by an over zealous security guard who nearly caused me to jump out of my skin when he came out of nowhere to LOUDLY SCREAM and reprimand me for simply picking a flower. Although he did mellow out after talking to him for a few minutes,I felt he was being far too abrasive and over the top in his initial approach. It caused me distress and now I have a bad taste in my mind and unfortunately will never feel the same way about the Montgomery Village shopping Center ever again. read more

Not only does owner David Codding and his team provide a first class shopping/dining destination, but they also generously provide local non-profit organizations a terrific opportunity to fundraise at Montgomery Village Shops' free summer concerts. A different non-profit group staffs the beverage booth at each concert, and receives nearly 100% of all they sell. Our ministry just hosted the booth during an exciting 'Summer Of Love' concert last Saturday; a repeat opportunity for us. MV Shops had completely organized the beverage booth, got beverage donations from local businesses, iced the beverages, and had the booth turn-key when our volunteers arrived. And they will do this over and over all summer. Where do you ever see commitment to local causes and charities like this? So while it is obvious that the MV Shops' management team works hard to create an appealing ambience for shoppers and diners, they also definitely let their hearts guide their decision to support and raise up well-known and fledgling local non-profit organizations. It's the worst idea to have concerts in the village, that effected the businesses in the village, made the parking lot full , we tried to have a food in one of the restaurants there and made some shopping, we kept looking for a parking more than hour and we ended up leaving and go somewhere else , I heard from many other people same problem! read more

I haven't seen it for a long time. But it's an old, little, shopping enter, somewhere in Santa Rosa. Can't find anything online, that tells me, west, east or south. All I know, for sure, is a few of the streets (by name), Round Table Pizza, Lucky, and Hallmark Store. Service is usually very good, depending on what business you go into, and the day of the week. read more

Okay, so let's really reminisce. (I can't remain quiet on this one after the most recent trip down memory lane which included Coldstone, High-Tech Beeto, Jamba, Ross, and other retailers. Too new. This was NOT Montgomery Village -- at least not the one in place when my parents moved here to establish dad's Dental practice in 1959.) FIrst of all -- the covered wagon at the coroner (sic) of Montgy and Farmers. I seem to recall that at one point this precious piece of memorabilia had a bomb threat against it. Yes, by today's standards it was tacky. But it's history folks! History, I say! Given the fact that wagon wheels as a basis for light fixtures and used brick in the new homes built on Montgomery Drive in the fashionable Christmas Tree Lane neighborhood all sported these decorating cliches, it didn't seem out of place. Oh, but they were such warm and homey touches to our post-WW2 boom and fear of nuclear annihilation. By the time we arrived there was already a rather bad addition which housed the Maple Furniture dispensary only to re-inforce the early American craze, and the frilly laced lampshades. The only thing worse? The new buildings and businesses which are so dreadfully out of scale from the original structures. Without giving a storefront by storefront recollection of merchants local, there was one store that represented such stability. The Pendleton Store. It WAS Santa Rosa as a very fine purveyor of real fabrics for real people. When the store closed very recently, it was like someone had dealt me a soccer punch in the gut. I don't know for sure if it had been there since The Village opened, but by 1959 it was in place and one of the storefronts that was truly a retail anchor. All of this new stuff -- the designer juices, the below wholesale retailers (is there an oxymoron working here?) the Classy this and the ducky that -- were still not yet incorporated or accepted as a part of the real and original Montgomery Village. But by 1959 Thrifty Drug was well ensconced as an early example of a drug store + dime store + outdoor "furniture" store + small appliance store business venture ALSO replete with its lunch counter and the blue plate specials. And thank goodness when in the process of getting settled in a new town our in-home kitchen was still not fully assembled and we could get a quick and (as I recall) fairly palatable meal that filled the hunger pangs. This was still before the days of Sysco and a lot of what came to the counter was real food -- even given the veggie representation as a tired leaf of iceberg, one slide of tomato, and a couple of pickle chips. The sodas and milk shakes were real. No frozen Tofutti or Mocha Mix knock-offs for the lactose intolerant. Now we arrive armed with our Lactaid tablets and containers of Purell. And T&C and Montgy Village were conceived when Santa Rosa had no thoughts of being a tony little gentrified town. The very thoughts of having the Big E opening in the new Coddingtown Mall was enough to set hardcore shoppers into retail nirvana. And when it was announced that the store would remain open until 9 p.m. on Thursday night, there was a neon reminder directly under the store logo. And what about Mr. Codding as a developer then vs. a developer now? He bought property for T&C, Montgy Village, Coddingtown, designed it replete with rotating neon sign and a sputnik-inspired twinkle atop, got the minimal approvals, and just started building -- in hopes they would come. He was right. But, in the process, some very valuable farm land was paved over. It was the beginning of the demise of our agrarian economy. Environmental implications were unheard of: auto emssions for the extra traffic, noise levels of patronage and night-time deliveries, upset of habitat for a never-before heard of strain of the common household fly only to be found in the Hahman Prunes, and other considerations that add years and more levels of bureaucracy to the developers up-front costs. And the endless hearings for the democratic process to function as it should. Was it really a better time of life? I'm not sure because I haven't finished life yet. The protection of agriculture in development is a double edged sword. Keep agriculture. Less land for housing starts. Higher housing costs. Equity refugees. The economic upset of land vs. the tax base forcing the farmer further out -- and then out altogether. What was once a stellar agrarian economy -- is no longer. So was it good stewardship to pave over for Montgomery Village, Coddingtown, Sonoma State? The ship has sailed but we now find ourselves as stewards. This comes flooding back each time I head to the best mall in Sonoma County -- Montgy Village. And Codding had it right about the Plaza. If we, as voters, could have stalled another 13 years..... read more

If there is any place in the world that is the best shopping center in the world, it would be Montgomery Village. They have every thing from Ross- Talbot's. They have every thing in a convenient area and very accessible to the public. This would be recommended to everybody in Santa Rosa, CA. read more
