Somewhere in the decaying guts of suburbia, I found myself standing under the humming lights of a mall that should've been mercy-killed in the late '90s. A tomb with escalators. We fed six crumpled American dollars into a Walking Dead game that promised a two-dollar thrill and watched the machine gulp it down like a slot-fed demon. The screen blinked, wheezed, and died. No refunds, no glory, no zombies. The air smelled of broken dreams and stale Cinnabon. This place isn't a mall, it's a mausoleum of capitalism, kept alive by bad leases and worse lighting. They should bulldoze the whole carcass and give the land back to the coyotes. A banal waste of space from another era. The ghosts of Radio Shack and Wet Seal linger here, whispering: "You could've spent that six dollars on gas." read more

It's a nice shopping mall, but there aren't many chain stores. I wish there were more well-known brands and something new.

Weirdest mall I've ever been to. They have a mix of traditional and non traditional mall stores. I really loved how they had a mini cat town where you can pay to hangout with cats. read more

Malls have such a nostalgia factor for me. They remind me of a simpler time. The smell of Cinnabon and Wetzel's Pretzels wafting through the air transports me back to my tweenage years and the early 2000's when spending countless hours at the mall with friends seemed like the pinnacle of existence. Fast forward to 2023, many malls are empty and almost feel vaguely dystopian. So I was surprised to see how busy Santa Rosa Plaza was yesterday. The shops were open, and a decent amount of people were shopping. The mall was clean and seemed safe, with the clear presence of security guards and cameras. I'm from Marin, so maybe the current state of Northgate is impacting my expectations in terms of what to expect at a mall in 2023. But things seemed good here. We didn't get to go everywhere I would have liked, so I'll have to make a trip back in the future to go to Lush. :) read more

The service here is as good as it comes when coming to a mall. The selection of stores has dwindled over the years, but still offers what you are looking for. If looking for value then look no further as this place has you covered. When it comes to value this place is decent as we have to compete with the internet and sales now. I love when my partner goes to Victoria secret here as this is the only location for miles. read more

I will specifically speak on an incident from Friday 1/13/23 evening. As my family and I sat down in the food court to eat about 5pm-ish, there were scattered tables of teenaged children who were with their friends. An older male stopped just at the edge of my eyesight on the left (a got a weird feeling about him),then chose a table next to a girl who's friend just went to the restroom. He tried making conversation with her. She was visibly not feeling it. I went over and spoke with her said hey I noticed you body language changed I'm with my family over there. We will watch out for you if he bugs you or you feel more uncomfortable just signal and we will intervene. The guy kept staring. After another group sat down he was staring at them too. I called security after the first set of girls kept making eye contact with me. I explained to security (which needs to make it easier to find their NUMBER!) the guy could possibly be homeless/unhoused (usually they stick to the farthest away from groups of people and they eat in peace without making others feel uncomfortable with unwanted attention.), explained his clothing and his proximity. The response was on point. The lady security attempted contact a few times with him and he got annoyed. Other male security guards and (guessing) a manager (suit) came to observe. I talked to them out of ear shot and explained what the issue was and that I just didn't want something bad to happen but he was making a lot of people uncomfortable. The guy left his food and tried to storm off, on his way he tried to talk to another female who was walking past and then saw that security was watching him he turned the other way. We let the girls know that security may talk to them but they will be watching where he goes. from the sounds of it- may not have been his first incident. The security team did not cause a scene, handled it with professionalism and was respectful. Even if they have a bad rap for being mall security they handled this situation excellently. read more

It seems that this place brings out feelings of nostalgia. First time here a few days ago and noticed it has a few stores that I haven't seen in years; or I just have been going to a few malls. Choice, torrid, surf city squeeze, rocky chocolate place, macys. Use of old stores' structures. I was feeling like I was in a time warp. I was really drawn to the mini cat city, where you can glance from outside the window). The vicinity was clean. Overkill on the toy stands. Quite small, but has a good court. Unfortunately, I felt like the unhoused in the bathrooms and hanging around the food court could deter customers. read more

The Santa Rosa Plaza close at 7pm many of the stores within the plaza aka mall reflect an 8:00pm close time. Last night January 19, 2023 they closed at 7pm. As I opened the door to walk in the mall many people were leaving saying they're closing. read more

I sure don't come to the mall as much. But it has changed. There is new business, and a lot of businesses are entirely closed. I feel that any place I go inside the mall, they are great with customers. I hope they get business up and running at the empty spots. read more

The security people at the mall are awful. My 15 year old son and his friends went to the mall (as teens do). He and his friends locked their bikes up at the mall and security cut their locks, leaving their bikes to be stolen. I asked why they cut their locks and they said that they have a policy to not leave bikes unattended. My son and his friends were visiting the mall for about 30minutes. The security told me that the mall was not a safe place to visit for teens. LOL. Guess we will NEVER visit this mall again. read more

Finally getting around to this well-deserved one star from a winter experience. Took my 3 kids mall shopping. Had lunch. Ran over to the bookstore a couple blocks away for a few hours. Returned to the mall for dinner. We returned to the car but I'd forgotten something. It was cold so I left the kids in the warm car while I ran inside. The kids (older teens plus our dog) waited for me in the car while I stopped inside a business. While I was in the business, the mall cops called the real cops on me... For "being at the mall all day." This was their actual reason. Really! The cop was polite, we chatted for 2 minutes and I drove away because it was a complete waste of his time. He said my kids did exactly what they should have done when questioned by him and he saw no problem. Mall cops ruined the end of a great day shopping and dining with the kids. Glad the real cop was in agreement with me that it was a TOTAL waste of time to call him. I like to go shopping all day and night! Sue me if I like to drop hundreds with my kids. I earned that money and it's mine to spend as I see fit ... But not at this mall. They don't want me there and I wouldn't return if they paid me. I've been dropping my hundreds each weekend somewhere else ever since. Hasta! read more

Average mall. The usual stores. There's a Starbucks right inside the main front door on B Street. Convenient, as it's right across the street from my work and they're open earlier than the retail stores open. It's nice that I can walk the mall in the AM when I'm early for work. Previously, their 90 minute free parking was already ridiculous. It's bad enough that I'm often times dragged to go here (I prefer Amazon), but now we have to PAY to go shopping? No other mall I've seen has implemented such greedy pricing system just to park here. I don't think it's so much as the prices that really makes me upset about the parking system, but it's one more STEP and TIME that inconveniences the shoppers. Waiting in line to grab a ticket, then having to line up to pay for parking. I'd rather go to Coddington Mall or the outlets than come here again. Guaranteed they won't see me parking here again (I'll get my FitBit steps in parking further away). Simon Property got a little too greedy over here. hate this place. parking isn't free anymore and only validated if you spend over 100 during your visit. there's a bunch of homeless around. I have nothing against the homeless but when their odor is offensive to the point of me puking, that's a big no-no. there's a bunch of rude teenagers that think they own the mall. they're all standing around 'hanging out' with each other, yet all of them are on their darn cellphones. I bumped into several multiple ties bc they weren't looking were they were walking. bathrooms are disgusting because anyone can just walk in and use them. food court needs better options. I have moved from Santa Rosa years ago- I am told that they now require payment to park here. I recently came during the holidays (the day after thanksgiving) with my sister and it was free parking which was awesome. We were in and out of there. This mall has changed ALOT since I was a tweenie bopper cruising down the halls of the Santa Rosa Plaza hitting up charlotte russe and sheik like I was balling like Jay-z. This mall is located near the historical side of Santa Rosa and holds many stores that are department natured: Macys etc. then you have all your mom and pop places that seem to have popped up- and a very outdated food court. read more

The Sephora and Lush here are great. Bath and Bodyworks is nice too. Not the BEST mall in the world, but it's WAY better than the mall I grew up with in Mississippi. I know the parking situation isn't the best, but if you're close enough to walk it's a nice place to visit. read more

Well, the majority are Vaccinated and the mall finally opened! That's the good news, but the bad news is they look like an abandoned warehouse. Some of the stores are still closed including the Starbucks. Other stores are missing lots of merchandise, so you are better off ordering online. The food doesn't seem particularly safe to order, that's just my feeling? It's hard to say if the Board of Health has visited. I went shopping through a bunch of the stores and it was all pretty much a disappointment. Of course I understand, they just opened after being closed for a year. But it doesn't really look like it was done in a professional way. That mall was never really great to begin with and now, unless they make some really good changes, it'll just be worse than it was if that is possible. read more

They advertise if you spend over $100 that you get free parking but then if you happen to ask the black man in the blue suit he'll tell you they don't honor it until after 5 PM. Then I paid and went to the checkout and the lady told me that guy told me wrong ! The mall itself is clean, well taken care of, and has a good variety of food and shops. I'd rate it 5 stars, but why should I have to pay for parking? Probably one of the only local malls where you have to pay for parking. But considering what some people blow on a cup of Joe these days, folks shouldn't begrudge a few bucks. The max I've spent here is like 4 dollars, and that's hours after I shopped until I dropped! I like how clean and filled the mall is. Not many "for lease" signs, but instead a lot of quirky and common mall stores. I tend to vacillate between the Macy's and Sears when I visit. They've also got some good food places to grab something to go. I tend to go here on week days if possible. When crowded on the weekends, it can be a bit hard to maneuver (mostly from large strollers and kids running about without their parents near). It makes a great place to find some good deals, get in a few steps for the Fitbit, and enjoy the friendly customer service most stores offer. read more

It was surprising that this mall was downtown. So many times, I've seen downtown destroyed by malls, and this time, they're working at the same time. They had a decent combination of stores to suffice for most age groups including Macy's and Zumiez. The food court was reasonable without surprises. There is even a Wetzel's Pretzels elsewhere, as is a Starbucks. Parking in the garage, I was a bit concerned about the cost but using the machine ahead of leaving, it was shown to be free of charge--within those first 90 minutes. Maybe obviously, those wanting to enjoy the downtown area outside of the mall will pay plenty. I was surprised to see employees in the mall making sure that it was neat and clean, as plenty of malls just leave things for someone else. read more

The exit gets so backed up that they let people exit without paying. You guys are losing money!! Either fix the problems or just have it back to free parking. I was staying in Petaluma for a few days with my in laws and was told this was the closest mall to them. I seriously think I'm spoiled with all the malls in SoCal when we have plenty of malls to go to within driving distance and lots of variety. Came here looking for a toy for my daughter that had to be bought at the Disney store. I seriously had some consideration on moving around the area because it just seemed like such a beautiful quiet neighborhood. But I wouldn't last a week with the limited shopping areas near by. This mall has pretty normal stuff here but no store out the ordinary. It looks pretty big on the outside but it seems pretty average on the inside. That's not even the worst part. The worst part is the PARKING. Parking is only free for the first 90 minutes. I'm pretty wowed by this because sometimes...we shop a lot longer then 90 minutes. Especially with kids... I can find myself spending sometimes up to 4 hours at the mall (please consider I eat at the mall and let the kids roam in toy stores for a while to let them get it all out before heading home). I can't imagine how Christmas shopping here may be like. Especially if you might spend quite some time looking for parking then you are limited on time to shop until you have to start paying to park while you shop. I can completely understand all the hating that happens on this mall, HOWEVER, this is the closest thing we have to any form of a department store mall in the immediate area. I mainly come here for Macy's, the Impulse section to be exact. While it is a pale comparison to the Macy's selections in SF and the East Bay, it is all we really have. Coddingtown has a craptastic selection of these designer duds. While the rest of the mall and the people who frequent it often may suck horribly, I still stand by my only option of fashion available to me within a mall. Of course one could go to the little boutiques all over town but this is one of the only options to try and get a good deal on these designer duds. Crappy, crowded and obnoxious as it may be, it is a necessary evil. read more

It's nice to see a well-patronized mall in Northern California, much as I remember it from when I was younger. No more Sunset Movies, no more Sam Goody, but still many of the mainstays of any mall, complete with mall goths at Hot Topic and Claire's. Prices have remained rather good too. I would definitely come back, not just for the nostalgia, but because they have pretty good deals these days, especially from what I remember. Oh, and about that parking: Are you *really* complaining about 1 dollar for TWO hours? They have such good Christmas presents and birthday presents each person that walks in the store will at least find 3 things that they like. This is a great mall, but I refuse on principal tp pay for parking. I have heard many employees from different stores when they first started to charge for parking say that business is down due to the owner of the mall charging for parking. So I go to Coddingtown Mall. However, I do like Hot Topic. My son is really into Harry Potter and they always have a great selection. I was helped on the phone by Jessie. She was so sweet and very helpful. I still won't pay a penny for parking, but will walk to the mall and make my Harry Potter purchases with the help of one of the nicest employees of Hot Topic! Family and I came here yesterday while waiting on car to be serviced at local dealership. We were dropped off by taxi so had a car seat with us for our toddler. We got tired of lugging the heavy car seat around and as mall has no service desk, we decided to leave car seat for a couple hours in the nursing area by the bathrooms. The little holding room by nursing area seemed like a good safe place to stow seat for awhile, while we ate and shopped, similar to areas I've seen where you can stow a stroller in other stores and malls. Anyhow we came back later to retrieve seat. It was gone! I was pretty certain nobody went to the trouble to steal a car seat out of long mall hallway far from any parking. We ended up going to mall office where they radioed some cleaning staff. The cleaning staff stated that they had been ordered to take car seat to dumpsters. How about a public announcement on PA system before throwing away your customers item? I can see them doing this if it was left there for days or something. But not a short period. Keep in mind this is in morning shortly after opening. The staff went and dug car seat out the dumpsters, but it now has some damage from being tossed and probably going to need to purchase new one. Just a weird experience for our first visit here, and doubt if we return back to spend any of our hard earned money here when they treat customers like this. read more

So many memories of this place I have from growing up with this place and visiting it a lot in my younger years!

The last few weeks there has been a horrible rancid smell between Macy's and the Cinnabon on the 1st floor, can't figure out what it is! I worked at the Vans on the upper level, and would dread walking past and through Macy's to get to where I needed to get without gagging or covering my face to shield the smell! Can't figure out what it is! Thankfully Friday was my last day there I won't ever do that again! The restrooms are always clean but a few stalls are broken! No door locks! No privacy! The food court is always packed, which is good! And parking should for sure be free... I can't think of anything else other than the security who walk around oblivious and scan their barcodes and go on their way, so long SR Plaza! read more

This is a mall the owner does not care about. Lights burnt out. Many people trying to stop you when you walk to sell you something. Five stores going out of business anther 20 that are out of business. What surprise me most is this bad experience charge you to park at it's neglected shopping center. So sad. read more

The mall has free parking between 12pm-1pm so I timed my visit today to take advantage of that. Make sure you wait a few minutes after noon to enter the garage! I waited until my phone said 12:00pm and the time stamp on the parking ticket said 11:59am so I had to pay. I bet their clock is off on purpose to rip people off! read more
