Was visiting from out of town and needed to stock up on some Polish goodies. They have a nice variety of products and then some. The bakery is delectable as ever and the meats smell so tantalizing!! Wish they had one in Charleston *sad face* but alas, the other thing that caught my attention was the $5.99 lunch special where you pick a main protein and for the sides it's 1 hot item and 2 cold options. They package everything so nice and tight so it survives the car ride home in one piece! Silverware is available as well. I really enjoyed the fried fish and flavorful side salads. I love Montrose Market! Used to be known as Wally's Market before they changed ownership, Montrose Market has definitely upped the game since this change. Predominantly a Polish market, this grocery store also has other cuisines. The sushi here is FIRE and so fresh. The best thing about this store are the fresh dinners they have. For $3.99, you get an entree with 2 sides and they PACK your meal, too, so you get so much good food for such a low price. Their hot foods are everything - I love their placki (potato pancakes), golombki, shishkabobs, and pierogi. Their desserts here at their little bakery are to-die-for, as well. Their produce is always fresh and they have such great prices. Their deli is so big with tons of various meat and cheese options. They also serve fresh baguettes daily. My family and I get a lot of our groceries and dinners here, and I totally recommend this market to all! read more

Nice Polish grocery!  And it's big and it's pretty close to home, so double bonus points.  This place is called Montrose Market and a subsequent check of their website confirmed that it's basically the same business chain as the two Montrose Deli's on Chicago's northwest side. It was our first visit to any Montrose, but I remembered one thing associated with Montrose Market or Deli, and that's their great value $3.99 carryout meal.  Though I had just eaten lunch, I picked up one of these just for grins, and it will probably be my dinner.  What an amazing deal - a hot entree (pork chop), a hot side (baked potato wedges), and two side salads (cucumber-tomato, and a Hawaiian chicken salad) - all for $3.99!  Check the photo - I don't know if it's a loss leader for them, but it's a deservedly big and popular draw.  You get a choice of 5 entrees, and there are like 16 different salads to choose from as well.  Wow. As far as the rest of the store, there were the usual popular Polish items - a huge variety of sausages, breads, bakery items, deli items, and all other manner of grocery items.  In a good sign, it was busy and I hardly heard a word of English.  I also bought some meat pierogies (only $3.19/lb) and a couple variety of their kielbasa.  The lady attendant understood what I asked for, but when I asked if she had a favorite, we didn't connect on that one, ha.  I will endeavor to bone up on some casual and useful Polish before my next visit here and which is a given!  ps - I also learned that if you're over 65, you save 15% every Wednesday here - yaay for old age! read more

Stumbled upon this market since it's close to Tensuke Japanese market. As soon as I entered, it reminded me of Fresh Market in Naperville. Lots of Eastern European goodies and an expansive bakery. Went to the new location in Roselle. They took over the space where Butera was. Staff still being trained. Not everyone speaks English as it's a Polish grocery store. Prices good if on sale. Nice deli. Hot and cold foods. Give it a few more weeks and try again. read more

The store has a spacious and easy parking. It has a nice interior and it was clean and everything was perfectly organized. It is a mini grocery store but it has a great selection of goodies just like what the other grocery stores in the area has. The difference is that this store has specialty products that are rare to find and the prices of it in this store is fair and reasonable. So, if you are looking for a specialty product you should go in here because they have a great selection of it. I also recommend the store hot food section. It has different foods and I tried one and it was definitely good. I would literally choose the hot meal I bought for them over the food in a fast food. I'm a fan of Montrose Market store in Mt. Prospect because they have really good prices on fruit and vegetables, including organic produce, and they also offer 15% discount to seniors on Wednesdays! The meat, bakery and dairy sections are also huge. Their hot meal portions to go are generous and always offer plenty of choices. Everything is fresh and tasty. This incident happened on may 25,2023. I was purchasing baked potatoes from the hot bar station and a Polish speaking lady ( around her late 50s maybe even 60s) was assisting me. I was also on a phone with a friend speaking in my language but I was ordering in English. Once I finished with my order I went on to pick a cake. As I was standing not too far from a hot bar station, I overhear that polish lady tell her coworker " oh a Ukrainian started speaking English oh that's new pointing towards me. When I got to a cashier, I told her that this is the store that I have been going to for years and such disrespect I will not tolerate. That was the last time that my family, friends and I have shopped there. I did not have time to make a scene and call the manager and I think a review on internet will be more effective as more people will find out about this and will think twice before going to this store if they are not American or Polish. Because apparently that who you have to be to be able to shop at Montrose deli in des plaines. PS. Very so often when there will be rush hour all of the cashiers would be open, but actually when you get closer, you'd realize that cashiers stand one by the other just talking to each other without even paying attention that the customer is standing there in hopes that cashier will stop talking gossip and do their job. This I could slide through. I get it. People get tiered from work, maybe they have something important going on. More important than a long lines forming at other cashiers stations during their shift. But this last incident was the last drop. I've had enough. read more

This is the old Wallys market. They've made a lot of improvements on the interior design. Lovely new glass counters and an overall freshening up. Everything I loved about the old store is still here: fresh bakery bread and pastries, great produce selection, incredible deli, fabulous hot meals and cold salads. Absolutely love this store. It has all you need, but they specialize in European products. Their kitchen is to die for, everything is fresh and delicious. They have a wide selection of soups, salads, and entrees in the hot buffet daily. They make both traditional and gourmet European meals. And a homemade dinner for $3.99, served daily?! Wonderful full-service grocery store packed into a medium sized space - well-stocked with very fresh produce and very adequate selection of regular goods and staples. However, the meat market and deli are the crowning glory - incredible value on a wide selection of meats, cheeses and specialty deli items - the well-staffed counter service is friendly and efficient. I definitely like this Polish grocery store not only because of the Polish foods but also because of the other and a lot of good things that the store offers, like their bakeries and cooked meals. Whenever I go here, the store is always busy, but it is still clean and well-organized. There is a huge variety of everything they have here, and there are so many options that sometimes it is hard to choose because everything seems the same and, of course, of good quality. Every staff member in this store is very friendly and helpful. Prices are all fair and reasonable, and sometimes there are some products that are so cheap. The sausages are definitely the must-food item I can buy in this store, and they are authentic and taste good too. Their bakery is also one of the best here, which has a huge variety of options as well. Everything is so fresh and everything looks so delicious that I cannot resist buying something from the selection each time I go into this store. Before I go home or before I head to the counter, I also make an appointment to buy something from the chef's meals that are sold inside, which has foods that are really delicious at a reasonable price. Everything in this grocery store is just so great, and I honestly haven't experienced anything bad from this store so far.
