My wife and I were seated immediately. The server quickly brought us water and garlic bread. I really like that they give you 5 fairly big pieces of garlic bread for only two people. Nice touch. We were not in a hurry and couldn't decide what we wanted so we started with the calamari salad. $29, but it's huge and chock full of those calamari guys. Lettuce is always crisp and has everything I like in it (olives, eggs, carrots, artichoke, peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, and romaine lettuce). We were almost full just from the salad alone. I ordered a grouper sandwich (not fried), and my lovely wife ordered the Scottish salmon plate, which comes with potatoes and grilled vegetables. My sandwich came with coleslaw and fresh cut fries. They switched to fresh cut since my last visit, and this was an upgrade. My sandwich was great, and huge too. Could not finish it. Wife's meal was a humongous slab of salmon. The veggies now come on a smaller plate, but that's okay, given the size of the fish. Service was a tad slow, but like I said, we weren't in any hurry. Total tab was $100, with tax and that pesky 3% service fee. I really enjoyed the food and the ambiance. It's not a place I can go every week, but when I can splurge, and have a taste for fresh seafood, this is the best around.

There were different sections in the restaurant that were more casual, tailored to the different tastes of the clients. Overall, food was delicious and portions were huge. I had a Boston Clam Chowder and a Gulf Grouper as the main. I would usually order a salad, but I didn't this time as each entrée came with a large plate of homemade roasted vegetables and wild rice. The Boston Clam Chowder had real pieces of clams in it. However, it was just lukewarm. My grouper looked great and tasted flavorful, but it was somewhat over-cooked (and therefore not tender), which was unfortunate. My wife had a bowl of Lobster Bisque and an order of Stuffed Flounder that had crabmeat sandwiched in the fish. She absolutely loved her choices. Our daughter had a Charbroiled Walleye and liked it too. Her only disappointment was the garlic bread being hard and dry. Our daughter and I each had a Chardonnay Stags Leap which was good, while my wife had a Virgin Mojito and truly enjoyed it. Surprisingly, the highlight of the night was the slice of tiramisu that our friendly and professional server Greg brought to me! It had a lit candle for my birthday, and Greg teamed up with two other waitresses enthusiastically sang me a happy birthday song! The tiramisu was excellent, creamy and not too sweet. I am not a dessert person but really appreciated this. I have a suggestion for the restaurant: as the portions were so large and each of us brought home half of it, it would have been nice that they make the portion 40% to 50% smaller, and lower the average price of $40 per entrée accordingly. We started out with the garlic bread on our table and ordered the appetizer platter. The platter was fine, but the addition of guac was odd and it wasn't very good. I ordered the lobster roll and my husband the mahi. They only serve the lobster roll hot, but I generally prefer cold. The bun was a pretzel roll, which I didn't love. They should put the butter on the side, so the whole thing felt dry. They served it with tartar sauce, which was an interesting choice. Husband was unimpressed with his mahi. Service started off strong and then fell off a cliff. Our server was attentive when we needed to order and then absent through pretty much the rest of the meal. We asked a busboy for more water and someone went to find our server to get our check. Basic things like ketchup for fries wasn't even considered. The Show was impressive and showed the range of products available. I was very excited about the possibility of including a lot of products on our next menu. Turns out this was the high point of our experience with Fortune Fish. It's been downhill ever since. It started off well ... We needed to get some product in about a week for an event, no time to lose. So instead of Fortune's salesperson coming over to drop off some samples, they sent the local representative from the product manufacturer instead. She called ahead asking us what we'd like to sample, came over and cooked it all off in our kitchen. The product was well received so we placed an order. A couple of weeks later, the salesperson from Fortune finally gets to our kitchen to give us an overview of the product line and to bring us samples of fresh and frozen fish. The super fresh salmon filet he brought was an especially welcome staff lunch that day. The rest of the products were good too so we made plans to use them in a new menu. Over the course of the next few weeks, we placed several orders and the deliveries have been generally hit or miss. Lately, it's been more misses than hits. Especially frustrating are the mispicks -- we order something and they send us the wrong stuff. Then when it's returned it takes FOREVER to get a credit. When we have a busy operation to run, we expect our vendors to be on the ball and to not create more work for us. A simple apology and follow up goes a long way and so far we haven't gotten either from Fortune.

And not to pat ourselves on the back, but there's something in Asian culture about having "good food juju" -- meaning if you love food and love eating, you will draw in crowds after you walk in. My husband and I are both born under the Pig sign (take that however you want ), and I swear that within 10 minutes of us ordering, three different groups walked in and the place filled up to about 70% capacity. This is not the first time this has happened to us over the years, so yes... we're a little proud. Our kids are foodies too, so if you ever see our family in your restaurant, likely more foot traffic is coming your way. So the ambiance here is fun and casual, with a Hawaiian surfer vibe that totally fits the fresh fish concept. It also makes me miss Hawaii! Now onto the food. We really like Poké Bros because it feels healthy and fresh -- quality fish, vegetables, flavorful rice -- basically deconstructed sushi in a bowl. You also get good value for what you're paying. Most bowls start around $13 (there has been a slight price increase of a couple dollars since our last visit years ago, which is expected). For an average person, one of these bowls which is usually packed with ingredients to the rim will totally fill you up. We ordered The Duke ($14.50) which comes with tuna, salmon, and shrimp. Because we were dining with kids, we left out the jalapeños and swapped the gochujang sauce for the sriracha aioli, which isn't spicy at all and is kid-friendly. We had sushi rice which was well flavored with vinegar (if you don't like that, ask for white rice) and also added extra imitation crab for $1.25. At the end, you can customize with additional toppings -- we added seaweed nori, wonton crisps, and rice flakes for extra crunch. Everything came out to be about $18 for a bowl so you can get feel for cost. Service was quick since bowls are made immediately, and we didn't have to wait at all. The staff were friendly, and nothing felt off or uncomfortable. It's also nice that they'll give you a lid with your bowl so if you don't finish, you can easily take it home. Once we sat down, the kids went wild -- and they even ate some edamame, which I count as a win. Everything was delicious and while the toppings were cool, the sushi rice was warm and it was a great combination. Since this was our second stop of the night (yes, dinner hopping with kids is a thing in our house), we didn't order more, but we'll definitely be back. Years ago, my husband and I used to come here for date nights when our kids were too young for fresh sushi. Now they love it, and it's nice to be able to enjoy this together as a family. We actually use this place as a bit of a "pregame" before going to rotary sushi spots -- our kids can absolutely eat us broke (not exaggerating), and this helps take the edge off their appetite. I know that's probably a unique situation, but if you're going with kids who devour sushi like water, this is a great option. For most families, this would easily be the main meal. For us, it's a sushi-deconstructed bowl of happiness before the final round. Tip: Ask for a punch card. Every bowl earns a punch, and after 10 punches you qualify for a VIP card that gives you a forever 10% discount on every order. We're definitely holding onto ours. AND they have other cool eatables for sale: we purchased a frozen Key Lime pie while we were there & served it along with pumpkin & apple pie for Thanksgiving dessert--the Key Lime pie was completely devoured by our guests! We liked it so much we're making another trip there just to pick up one more for Christmas. How many seafood stores can boast having great frozen desserts on hand, worthy of serving guests?? Poke Hale was our favorite and yet somewhere along the way it fell off our radar as places to eat. Well, we are back!!! Our order can be easily made online. Hubs and I go with the Build-your-own Bowl. A regular bowl allows 2 proteins and a large bowl allows 3 proteins. We can have a reasonable amount of adds in and toppings. We started with appetizers of edamame, shrimp tempura, and Crab Rangoon. All were really good, there was a good amount of edamame for the order. Everything was fresh and hot! The portions of the poke bowls were generous and filling. The Hale Ginger dressing was SO DELICIOUS!!! Service was friendly and quick. We placed our order online and picked up. The woman at the counter was appreciative of our order, doubled checked to make sure we weren't missing anything, and thanked us for choosing their business. She was so nice! The inside and outside were clean and comfortable. There are tables for dine in. Plenty of space for people to stand without bumping into each other while waiting to order or waiting for our order.
