I was back in New York for the weekend and decided to treat myself to a gel manicure and a pedicure at Amanda Nail Spa, and my experience was fantastic. The staff made me feel so welcome. The spa itself has a clean, updated vibe and a really calming atmosphere. The prices were average! A gel manicure here is only $30, which is very reasonable compared to many other places in the area. But the real showstopper is their Lavender Spa Pedicure, which is $67 and absolutely worth every penny. The pedi included a 30 minute leg massage, and honestly, it was my favorite part, it always is. The massage was so relaxing and just what I needed after a busy weekend. Both my gel mani and my pedicure turned out perfectly. The attention to detail was impressive and my nails look fantastic. The polish has stayed chip free and shiny, even after several days. If you're in Nesconset or nearby, I recommend visiting Amanda Nail Spa, especially if you're looking for great service, fair pricing, and a bit of pampering!

I was only asking for the French design, nothing more. When I asked about the price, I was told they couldn't do it, and the response was given with a very unpleasant attitude. I understand if a salon doesn't offer a certain service, but there is no reason to make a customer feel uncomfortable or unwelcome for simply asking. It's not just about being told "no"; it's about the way I was treated. Customer service and a respectful attitude matter, and unfortunately, I did not receive that here. I will not be returning.

I'm leaving 2 stars because I feel pretty confident that I would have had a much better experience with a different nail tech. He was very rushed and impatient with me for the entirety of the appointment. It felt like he was working against me or in spite of me or something. I did not get his name. My nails aren't horrible but they're definitely not what I asked for. Most notably, when he asked what length I wanted my nails cut to, I pointed on my pinky finger to generally what length I was going for. He just said "no, too long," and cut that nail considerably shorter than what I had requested. He didn't double check before making that cut, and the rest of the appointment went pretty much the same way. He was also passive aggressive (and just plain aggressive) in a way I haven't seen with other nail techs. Toward the end, one nail brushed up against his hand, which messed up some of the paint he had just applied. It happens. What I definitely didn't ask for was for him to then lecture me about how I need to keep my hands flat, don't bump into him, etc. As if I had done that on purpose. Also, the nails were $90. This employee is very talented and did a meticulous job on my nails. But like I said, it's just not what I asked for. I wish that he had been more accommodating and less (visibly and verbally) impatient with me. I feel really regretful that I came here and ended up paying so much for nails I kind of can't stand. If you plan on coming here just be aware of that. And maybe avoid this specific nail tech if possible.

Visit 2 .2 weeks later for fill ins. Done ok, but the next day, 2 nails hurt. Went to have them looked at. Told them it looks like mold. Realized nail fungus. Went again. Rebecca was off and was told no one else spoke english. They appear to be a prejudice and establishment that you can tell by their glances and snickers. My nails once removed are ruined, and now, 4 weeks in, I still have to let them heal.
