This is the best chinese food in Midland. Love their chicken fried rice and my hubby loves the hot & sour soup.

Whenever i visit my brother in Midland we made a stop at Moon Garden. Definitely the best Chinese in Midland. Atmosphere is not great, after all it is a 40-year old ex-Red Lobster restaurant. But, who goes to a Chinese restaurant for atmosphere? The Mongolian Beef is actually better than what I get at PF Changs in Dallas, and the portions are bigger. My brother always has the Moo Shoo Chicken. Egg rolls are cooked fresh and the soups are good too. We will return! read more

I have been a longtime fan of Moon Garden...back when they were in Odessa on West County Rd! I was overjoyed when they moved to Midland because I could eat there more often. The family that owns this place is very nice & are always there to wait tables or chat with you. I recommend the Shrimp with Garlic Sauce....if you like spicy foods...don't forget to ask for the hot oil....it's like a chili oil paste and adds some kick to any dish! read more

We just moved here from Dallas. Odessa/Midland is very limited to Asian food. We have visited a couple Chinese restaurants that were ok. We came to Moon Garden and we fell in love with this place. I was starting to think that the only place we could find good Chinese was back home in Dallas until we tried Moon Garden. We ordered chicken/pork fried rice, hot and sour soup, egg rolls, broccoli beef and orange chicken. They were all good, but the orange chicken was exceptional! This is by far the best authentic Chinese food around town. I rate this place a 5+. read more

This place is awesome. The imperial dinner special is great as you get a variety of appetizers along with soup and a main course. The hot and sour soup is incredible. I've tried many different plates here and all have been good. If you like spicy just have to ask the waitress to kick it up a notch. Don't let the old red lobster building fool you. This place has the best Chinese food in the midland area. So authentic your order is written in Chinese! If you want great Chinese food then look no further. I would recommend to anyone. read more

This is the best Chinese food in town. The location is an old red lobster, it's weird but it doesn't matter to me. The place usually is pretty empty but the food is great, a mystery to me. The sesame chicken is amazing. Never had a thing that's not good here. Service is kinda slow and prices are reasonable. read more

Tried to have lunch here today. Stood at the front by the "wait to be seated" sign for 10 minutes. 3 different employees looked at us and smiled. Not one spoke or offered to seat us. Walked out! Totally understand why parking lot wasn't packed like everywhere else. You only get 1 chance with me. read more

My husband and I are from California and we have been having the hardest time finding that at home feel for our Chinese food, WE FOUND IT!!! LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, Moon Garden!! The waitress' are great and very sweet! Don't listen to the last review, "waited for 10 mins" SO WHAT?! probably busy; its family ran so there's not a huge wait staff.... Food is great! Their Chicken dishes are great. Very meaty and tasty. Their shrimp fried rice is the best in town.

Although you can tell this used to be the old Red Lobster, food isn't bad. Service is very sweet and so respectful. Hot teas are good, but a bit on the week side. The prices here are so reasonable and lunch is probably the most reasonable. Most food is good here- assorted vegetables, Mongolian beef, Hunan chicken, honey chicken are good bets. Egg drop soup and wonton soup are delightful. Their wontons and dumplings are also very good. read more

How on earth does this place have such a high rating? Let's start with the decor-TACKY!-period! Our waitress was missing 80% of the time we were there, never gave us refill, or even asked us how our food was. The food was completely disgusting! I got the sweet & sour combination, and the dish was a bit on the cold side my fiancé got the beef lo mein, he told me that the beef had a slimy texture and tasted funky. I decided to try it, and he was right; it was pretty awful. On top of that the lo mein barely had any vegetables in it and the pasta they used was fettuccine. The place was dead during a dinner rush, which should have been a red flag. Still doesn't explain why it took 45 minutes for our vile food to arrive at our table. We left our plates full and went to go pay. Originally we were going to dispute it, but we were disgusted and over it. When we were paying, the (I'm guessing manager or owner) asked how everything was, and we told her how displeased we were and what exactly was wrong. She got a bit snippy and basically called my fiancé a liar, but she did give us a discount on the ticket. Will not be coming back ever again, and hopefully this crap hole gets shut down soon! Also, my fiancé ended up getting a mild case of food poisoning, just FYI. read more

First visit to this restaurant ... definitely had great ambiance! Loved the beautifully wood crafted furnishings! The food was delicious! Thoroughly enjoyed the tasteful Wonton soup, so flavorful! The chicken broccoli was delicious! The broccoli cooked to perfection ... not overly cooked. Wait staff very courteous and attentive. Definitely will be a restaurant we will be coming back to. Prices at lunch were very reasonable with good size portions. read more

Loved it. Ate here a couple of weeks ago with 4 adults and 3 kiddos and it was amazing. Food was fantastic. Everyone ordered something different and everyone loved everything. Service was impeccable. Pricing was reasonable. But most impressive, it wasn't incredibly loud. It was the most pleasant, non-headache inducing meal I've ever had in Midland. read more

Moon Garden is our favorite Chinese place in west Texas. Yes there are better places out of town, but this is the best we have. The hot and sour soup is very good and I normally just order the chicken fried rice. Very good quality food and service from Amy and Chloe. read more

Went to the Moon Garden for the first time three weeks ago and have been back three times already. The food has been very tasty and the portions have been large. As with most places here in Midland they are short staffed but you wouldn't guess it from their customer service. I love this place and will def be going back. read more

First of all I'm reading the other reviews for Moon Garden and I'm baffled, well except for the one where they found a worm in their food. I'm not surprised by that one. We first ate at Moon Garden 5 or 6 years ago and the place was dirty and the food was not good. Recently we had been told that it was really good and we should give it another try, so we went last night. I want to say right up front that our waitress was great! She was friendly and totally on top of things and handled that whole dining room by herself, so no complaints where she is concerned. She brought a plate of wontons which tasted like they had been sitting in a bag on a dusty shelf in the back of the kitchen for years - old and stale. The long gray hair mingled in with the wontons didn't make them taste any better or fresher. Unfortunately we had already ordered our meals or we would have left at that point. The fried dumplings were good. Our plates however were the worst. The food tasted old and gummy and no one at my table took more than a couple of bites. We spoke to the manager who did not care one iota about the hair in our food or the poor quality, in fact she was down right defensive. We gave them enough money to tip our waitress and to pay for the tea and dumplings and left. I know we don't have many really good Asian food restaurants in Midland but this by far has to be the WORST. I can't believe it has stayed in business all these years, while other far more superior Asian restaurants have closed. I gave one star because Yelp made me - not because MG deserved one. read more
