The balcony door was broken, but I decided to overlook that until I stepped into the bathroom and found flies. And it didn't stop there. The faucet was corroded and broken, and mold and mildew covered the shower & shower doors. Also the shelving was stained and clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long time. I went downstairs to speak with the receptionist, and asked if I had taken pictures or video. I just looked at her and asked for the manager. He asked to look at it together and looked surprised when he saw the room himself, he called the housekeeping manager to ask what happened. Both of them looked stressed. I pointed out the mildew and told them that doesn't build up in days, it takes weeks, so this room clearly hadn't been properly cleaned. While we were talking, I also noticed every door in the room had visible staining from who knows what. They had no explanation, so they offered to move me to another room. That one was just as bad, so I walked out of the hotel. Since I'd booked through my credit card company, the hotel couldn't refund me directly that day. I ended up filing a formal complaint with my credit card company, and I was refunded through them instead.

Located at the heart of Malate District, it is really accessible to the many establishments like Robinsons' Malate, Malate Church, and the Cultural Center of the Philippines. Don't expect much luxury from this hotel but the basic amenities are here. The standard room has the basics of any hotel: clean and soft bath towels, personal hygeniene kit, hot and cold showers, a bath tub (if you are lucky to get one of the several rooms that has one), clean linens, fluffy pillows, and a television set with cable network. WiFi is freely accessible on any floor but sometimes, the signal is weak when you are inside the room already. Some rooms don't have windows, just request for a room with windows. There's a pool at the roof top where you can view the Manila Bay and the famous Manila sunset. The pool's a bit small and you cant do your laps there but it is enough to accommodate 10--12 guests at a given time. Parking is actually quite a problem, though. With a low rate and sufficient service, V Hotel would be the cheapest hotel in the area. An overnight stay there wouldn't cost you much.

An employee showed me my room, gave a brief explanation and left me to rest. The room is decent. A/C works well but it's making a noise. It's the shower that I love. Good water pressure. Just the down side - no shower curtain to separate the shower and toilet, so the whole bathroom is wet. Overall it was a good experience. I wouldn't mind staying here again. The hotel is located next to a large mall. We got to the hotel at about 9pm and were ready to check in quickly and get a good night of sleep. There was nobody waiting at the check in desk, but the process was extremely slow-- I am not sure if it was the front desk computer or the key system. After some time, our keys were finally ready and we were escorted to our room. The room was nicely appointed, although the room felt tight. We did have an amazing view of the water, unfortunately the view was skewed due to the construction going-- unfortunately the construction will be going on for a while. We were also disappointed with the finishings in the room, they seemed a bit outdated and worn. Given this is a Conrad hotel, we expected the quality of the room to be higher. Also, the room did not have a bathtub. The room did have a nice size shower that was a bit complicated. Despite the room being small and outdated, the bed was excellent. The bed was extremely comfy with nice fluffy blankets. The hotel does have a nice pool. The pool is very clean. We were at the hotel off season-July, so the pool was not too crowded. The pool is small so I could imagine the pool be super busy and perhaps a lack of chairs during busy times. The hotel also has a nice gym on the first floor. The gym is appointed with a good amount of equipment. The equipment is nicely spaced to provide room to move around. As diamond members we were offered breakfast in the lounge or in the restaurant. The restaurant has a large buffet for breakfast, so we elected to eat there-- best to go super early before the restaurant gets busy. During prime time, you may have to wait for a seat. We were fortunate to grab a seat with a view. The restaurant offering were wonderful. As diamond members we were offered a special menu. The special menu offered special drinks and food items. All of this is included in a menu. The buffet was nice, but the service could be better- drink orders took a while. Plus, tables around us were not cleaned readily. We did not like having our breakfast and looking at dirty dishes. On the executive floor, there is also a small executive lounge that is offered to gold and diamond members. They offer breakfast, snacks and happy hour. Lastly, the hotel offers good security. When you arrive, they check your car. Plus, you have to go through additional security when you walk into the lounge.
