I enjoy the fact that we're encouraged to talk to our neighbors who we haven't met or talked to before the service begins. At that point of my life, I spent most my days by myself and to get a welcome hug and handshakes felt comforting and nurturing to feel like a part of a community of fellow believers. I'm glad to have found this little church tucked away in the neighborhood.

Several other newbies joined us in the café, where people gather before services for hot coffee and fresh donuts. During this particular get together, we were treated with delicious Papa John's Pizza...us church people love to eat! Side note: The coffee was exceptionally hot, which means it was brewed right there, and the donuts I had last week were fresh and a great selection from crullers to long johns, not those day old cake donuts that were being tossed out...oh, and the pizza? Freshly delivered from a pretty reputable pizza place, too! So, Lincoln Heights passed my food review, but it's really the people that kept me coming back. The "church" (not necessarily the building) is big enough to offer child care and a pretty good sized youth ministry, but not so big you feel invisible. Yea, I get wanting to feel invisible but as a mature Christian, I know the importance of being connected. Church shouldn't be about what we can get out of an hour of worship and inspirational talk, but what we can give back to a body, which I see as the real "church". The vision of LHCC, a non-denominational Bible teaching, Jesus believing church is simple. Lead, Love and Launch where the launching part is to plant a new community church within 5 years. This takes leadership and an active congregation ministering to the lost and broken and bringing them into a fold of loving people...I think we all can relate to someone that could use some lifting up, if not ourselves. Feel free to come in flip flops, which Pastor Chris was wearing today. It's a bit uncomfortable for me to be a part of this laid back modern culture, but it's encouraging at the same time, for I get the impression that this congregation is truly welcoming the "others" that feel pushed out of traditional norms of the highly conservative "church".

I have visited this church twice on Sunday and once on Wednesday for services. This is a…read morepentecostal church and has a lively worship experience especially on Sundays. While this is a relatively young church it is definitely alive. If you want a church that is effective and growing and yet still small enough that you don't get lost in the crowd, give Pastors Eddy Paul and his wife Cami, a try. Their greeters are better than at most churches. You will file between two rows of wonderful people who will make you feel right at home. There are ministries to young children and one for youth. If you are new in Christ or want a good refreshing of the basics of biblical Christianity, there is a class called Getting a Grip on the Basics currently under way. My wife and I have been Christians for 40 years and are being greatly blessed by this class. They have a follow-up class to this one and Cleansing Stream a couple of times a year. So, if you have a call or desire for ministry, there is a clear pathway to get there at this church, which is pretty unique in my view.

From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed. We were also a little overwhelmed by the size of the congregation and the music; it was such a different experience from what we're used to in the Netherlands! The worship was inspiring, the messages were biblical, practical, and encouraging, and it was clear that this church has a genuine heart for people. One of our favorite memories is seeing our four-year-old son dancing during worship; he absolutely loved it! As parents traveling with young children, we also really appreciated the family room. It was a wonderful place where we could care for our baby while still being able to follow the service. After returning home, we continued following Impact Church online, and it has truly helped us grow closer to God. Even from across the world, we still feel connected and continue to learn from the sermons each week. The only thing I found a bit challenging was the strong emphasis on giving financially. At times, it felt like there was quite a bit of focus on it. That may simply be a cultural difference, though. Overall, Impact Church has been a true blessing to our family, and we're grateful that God led us there. Tithing should be between you and God, not you and the Church, for God loves a Cheerful Giver, not give because of obligation or compulsion. 2 Corinthians 9:7 - Tired of Bureaucracy of Churches that only accepts you if you abide by their rules. I had been…read moreattending another church, but I felt lost in the crowd due to the large congregation and I was wanting something a tad more intimate. What I like about this church is that everyone is welcoming and that the church feels like home. It doesn't feel like a swapmeet where merchandise is being hawked at every corner and the best part is that the pastor does NOT shove politics down your throat from the pulpit. ( That is a big turnoff in my book) What pastor Caleb is interested in is introducing you to a man named Jesus Christ. He has NO desire to become famous or achieve notoriety in any way shape or form. There are plenty of classes for children and adults to those of you who are interested in furthering your knowledge of the word. So, please feel free to check it out and see if it's a fit for you.
