From authentic antiques to more modern pieces, there's something for every taste and style. The selection is impressive, and everything is arranged beautifully. Prices really seemed to range from low to very high depending on what it was. The building had impressive water damage that leaked in all the way from the roof down to the bottom floor which you could see in the one building corner ample water flowing in when it rained. A bit surprising this was happening in a well kept antique shop. The only drawback for me was the staff on the first floor. I felt a bit hovered over, which gave the impression they were judging us based on our appearance. Despite that, it's a must-visit for antique lovers, and I'll definitely be back to explore more if I'm ever in the area again!

We enjoyed a round silver ice bucket we recalled from our childhood, the one with penguins around the edge...sister didn't buy it because she said it was not in good shape - although I didn't notice anything wrong with it. Also, we enjoyed looking at the glass colored "grapes" that were so popular when we were growing up. I liked how one of the artists whose work on display was various oil paintings, included the size, media, and a personal anecdote on each title/price placard and would suggest all artists do this. None of the booths we visited were manned which was a plus for me, since we could take our time and explore various items uninterrupted. Like I mentioned, they have a dedicated [kinda small] gravel parking lot on the back [west side of the building]. Also please know, they do NOT have public restrooms which cut out trip short. Although some items can be fairly expensive, they are of good, local quality. They have wood block prints, artwork, jewelry, books, T-shirts, ornaments, and other items with the well-known sites of Huntsville (Big Spring Park, Saturn V, etc.). They also have some food items like honey and jelly. There is also a kid section with books, toys, pens, etc. In one area of the store, there is a little museum type set-up with newspapers and other historical things from Huntsville's history. The staff is typically pretty nice and very eager to help you shop / locate items.

It's basically now a gift and craft shop selling souvenirs, local food/snacks, and local artisan crafts. The staff is super nice, and when we said it was our first time visiting they told us all about the history of the building. At least some of this stuff is on consignment so the seller sets the price. I did see some instances of the seller offering discounts though. Sunday after church hour long waits…read morefor a margarita and chicken, cheese, and rice after a long church sermon are somewhat of a ritualistic, ironic part of a typical southern weekend. However, I can swear by the fact that this proves my theory on Mexican food, in North Alabama at least, being worshipped only if it tastes like cardboard and has no seasoning. This is not my first time at Phil's, either location, and every time it is always unremarkable. But this time, it was inexcusably bad. My fiancée's margarita tasted like water with lime in it. There was no triple sec or tequila taste, though she did say she felt a little buzz from it. So clearly was there but, to what cost? $9 for a tasteless marg is a little high. The queso had legitimately no flavor. Not even cheese. Just like table cream. It even had peppers in it but you could not taste them. This was the time where we questioned if we had caught COVID in the 10 minutes we had been in there and lost our sense of taste. I quickly learned this wasn't the case when I tasted the salsa which had the flavor of body odor and canned tomatoes. The chips, however, nice and crispy. So a plus there. Get the chips. Don't dip them. We split the chicken fajitas and the 3 minutes it took to come out after we ordered it, should be taken as a sign that it's not going to be great. The grill marks felt laughable as the chicken had no texture or flavor of something that was grilled. It, along with the peppers and onions, had a slimy texture and, again, absolutely no flavor. It seemed to me that this was a classic case of either Sysco's Finest or Sous Vide cooking. The rice on the side also had no flavor but the beans actually had a great taste, but a few felt under cooked and slightly crunchy. The stand out was the home made tortillas which we thick and fluffy. This made me question why, if you're going to the effort of making tortillas and chips in house, why cut corners on your MAIN part of the meal? As for the service, it wasn't bad but the waiter had to be asked multiple times for refills and was very inattentive to our table while favoring who seemed to be regulars behind us. Phil's has the essence of "what a Mexican restaurant tastes like in Norway if opened by a British person who had Mexican food once on a work trip to Idaho." Decor that's trying too hard, food that has no seasoning, and service that is lacking.
