This place IS NOT professional & is a rip off. I brought in a long cushion cover to have it altered ( basically to have length taken off - to match a smaller cushion cover that I also brought in for reference) but all she did was cut straight across & sew it back together again, which was a lazy short cut & this made the seam look funky when I put it back on my couch.... Upon pickup, she outrageously charged me $80 for this "project". Had I known she was just going to do a straight cut, I would have never gave it to her. I brought it to her to have it professionally altered to match the seams & dimensions of the other cover. So, because I refuse to pay out anymore $$ on this SIMPLE couch cushion, I decided to take out her stitch work & ended up fixing it myself. Waste of $80. read more

She is very committed to her job and gets you in and out very fast, you just have to let her know when you need the clothing by and she'll take care of you. Just be aware she's not much for chatter, but she's very good at listening when you speak up about making changes to her work, or tweaking something. I've had her alter three dresses for me already and don't have any complaints, she is a little pricey tho! :) read more

My daughter had a "pop-up" prom and bought a gorgeous dress needing alterations "stat!!". I called a good friend of mine who sees and she took one look at the dress and said , "That dress is way above my skill level, call Moon, she is awesome and can work on a deadline." So, I did. She did all the alterations we requested and she has it done on time! The only reason for the 4 not 5 star rating is the safety in the shop. There were sewing needles in the floor where my kid was barefoot, I let my kid know where not to step. I know it is highly unlikely anyone would get a blood borne pathogen from an errant sewing needle but, there is that small chance. Overall, Moon was amazing!! read more

I wish I could give her zero stars. Please do not go here!! My bridesmaids brought their dresses here on the 21 of June the wedding is on the 22 of July. We didn't get them until the 18 of July. The hems are all messed up. One dress has to much taken off the back and there's a bunch of loose stitches. She didn't reattach the ruching on the front of two dresses, and when we brought this up to her she blamed it on the manufacturer and told us we rushed her. She never gave us a timeline and when we'd call and ask she wouldn't ask for any information except the color of dress! Will not be referring her to anyone ever! **update** So two of the three girls were unable to try on the dresses at her shop so we didn't see the complete damage she did. She absolutely ruined two of the dresses to the point we have to come up with fixes on the fly so they can wear it on the wedding day, but they can never be worn again. I'm so upset we spent a good amount of money on the dresses only for her to ruin them. Please never give this woman anything she will ruin it!!! read more

I have been coming to this place for years! The service is reliable, friendly, timely, and consistently good alterations! I recently brought a bridesmaid dress in that was supposed to be for a wedding in 2020, it got pushed back to this year. This time it was a little harder to zip up my dress (if you know what I mean). had to get alterations and also take the fabric from the bottom of the dress and help make it wider lol! She did a fantastic job on late notice! Can't wait to wear it this weekend! read more

I can't believe this woman has any busines at all. Not only does she not deliver when promised, she charges an arm and a leg for the privilege. Burlington Coat pushes people her way with the lure of a 10% discount but even then she charged over $10 to alter each sleeve and cuff on my suit. The finishing touch was that she gave me the suit without a plastic bag over it. It's black and various sorts of debris forced a major brushing to remove lint and thread. I had the cuffs of five pants altered by someone else for less plus she delivered as promised. Had I not been taken in by the discount I would have been gone back to her. As a heads-up, a woman ahead of me took her garment back because it hadn't been even started. The frustration on her face was clear. read more

Sometimes it may take longer than expected to get your garments back, but other times the turnaround is lighting fast. I'd gladly recommend Moon's. At this point I've received one altered suit after simultaneously dropping off two. The second suit has now taken 5 months. I don't NEED it, but it's frustrating that every time I've stopped by I'm told by the lady, "I will call you!" I have given my number several times. This is the second time I've used them. The first was when I dropped off several pair of jeans that had holes in them. It took about a month that time to get those just patched up, and the patchwork was pretty bad on the inseam. Outwardly they looked okay enough, I guess. I gave them a second chance since the gap was YEARS between both opportunities and a friend recommended them since she had her husband's suit altered there and it wasn't that long. Having dealt with them twice at this point, I can assure you that this will be the last opportunity for them and I'll be advising any associates to not utilize their services. read more

I dropped off my hunting coat for a zipper repair. When I was called to pick it up, she gave me someone else's coat. I pointed out mine on the wall and paid for the repair. I didn't wear the coat for a couple months after my move to Idaho. Turns out the zipper was never repaired. I took the coat to a tailor in Idaho and they confirmed this. This tailor replaced the zipper head (the handle you pull) and I was back in business. 5 bucks while I was there. Wish I'd paid more attention while I was still in Anchorage. Not sure why the bad reviews, maybe business has changed since because I have had nothing but wonderful service from Moon's! I've had several pairs of jeans taken in at the waist, hemmed, even worn out jeans with holes in the thighs repaired. I am extremely happy with all her work and it's usually done very quickly! I took my wedding dress here to have the sides taken in. She took over a week to do the initial alterations - two days longer than what she had told me. I asked her to make some changes and take in a little more and she had the dress ready the next day and it was perfect. The shop is very small and very messy - once when I went in, she couldn't find my dress! I was pretty apprehensive about the place, but she ended up doing good work. read more

I brought in several things for alterations. I paid $77 for elastic to be taken in on the waist on to simple pants. Those were ok. But I had an expensive velvet dress hemmed and a pair of cotton pants. Both new. This woman screwed both up. The hems were sewn crooked and then I brought them back and she argued with me over it. And you could visually see it. So I left them to be fixed, came back a week later, she gave them too me and I took them home, and they were still the same. So this woman essentially ruined a beautiful velvet dress and a pair of $100 dollar cotton pants. Find another tailor in Anchorage! read more

I dropped off my flight suit to have extra material added to make the torso longer. I waited over 2 months, calling to ask about it several times. I finally got a text that it was done and went to pick it up. It had been taken up an additional 2 inches instead of lengthened. When I asked if this could be corrected, I was told that this is how it was done and that I needed to pay for it and take it. I explained that the opposite of what I requested was done and that the flight suit could not been worn at work at all. She kept my flight suit another 2 months, didn't work on it, I picked it up and had to take it somewhere else. Oh well. read more

I have been bringing all my alterations (mostly) and dry cleaning here for years. I have never been completely happy with it but it is very close to work and the work is usually satisfactory but more often than not, the items aren't ready when I go to pick them up. The owner has you put your phone number right on the claim slip so I just don't understand why she cannot call if it isn't ready. I have made countless trips to this place only to have to return the next day. The last few times my bill has seemed rather high but I have paid it figuring that $45 to have a cotton dress hemmed might be the standard. My last trip however, I took my spring (cotton) jacket to be dry cleaned. It has always cost around $15. I picked up my coat and she said it would be $69.75. I wasn't sure I understood so I asked a few times. She said it costs that much cause it was a "long coat". The coat is right above my knee and I'm 5 feet tall. I still was confused and asked her if she misunderstood and altered it or something because almost $70 seemed outrageous to dry clean a coat that wasn't really dirty to begin with... She relented and said that she would only charge me $15 because I was a good customer. Needless to say, I will no longer be bringing my business there. read more

A few things were very difficult to alter with a chiffon material and she was able to alter them seamlessly. I was surprised at the bad reviews on here as I have never had a problem here. Moon's Alterations ruined my wife's fur coat in January 2013 that her mother bought for her in Russia before her mother passed away in 2007. The fur coat was approximately worth $5,000 USD. Moon's Alterations is now being very difficult and does not want to offer appropriate recompense for the damages. They obviously washed the coat because the leather lining is shrunk and is hard as a rock and it cannot even be worn. Moon's Alterations says they will pay for the damages, but that they want the coat after they have paid us. They don't seem to understand that this is not for sale. This is still our property even though they have completely ruined it, so they don't get it - PERIOD! Why do they want it? Do they plan on fixing it and selling it for a profit? If that is the case, they should fix the coat for us, but they can't because it us utterly irreparable, because they already tried and they couldn't fix their mistake. Now, I have to take legal action against this company. They must not have any liability insurance due to their behavior, but I don't understand how they can even operate without the proper insurance. I will let the BBB, the Alaska Consumer Protection Agency, and then a small claims court Judge figure out all the questions, because I am done dealing with this ridiculous, sorry excuse of a dry cleaning/alterations business. PLEASE! Everyone, take your items elsewhere to a very credible company and don't be the next person trying to seek action against this company for ruining a highly sentimental item. read more
