Moon's just finished redoing the floor in my Spirit Room (kept for spiritual matters). Years ago a water heater located within the wall of that room's closet had leaked and caused the floor to bow. Unfortunately two (or was it three?) rounds of handymen had failed to fix it. Two years ago I had the house renovated and had given specific instructions for the people to straighten and repair the floor in there before laying down the new stuff. They did not. I was surprised that Moon's said they'd have to take out a large strip of floor tiles or whatever they're called when they're vinyl, even though the dip was about six square feet, but okay. The strips have grooves in the sides that can't just be ripped out and replaced. Then it turned out they had to redo the entire room! But whew, that explained the estimate they'd given me. Instead of hair-raising, it now sounded quite fair. I found a box of leftover planks and prepared for them. They helped me move out the remaining large stuff that I hadn't counted on having to be removed. When they got through the usable planks, we discovered the box o' planks was for the attached studio and not the room and didn't match, so a second crew had to come back with a new supply of planks for the entire room, since they'd been unable to match or even come close to what I'd had. Same estimate; okay. Well, they didn't order QUITE enough, but the third crew and a new box were able to finish the job! The room is GORGEOUS. The planks they chose are alike enough to the rest of the house that if you aren't looking for it, you don't notice the difference. They replaced the quarter-round with matching oak quarter-round instead of the white stuff that had been there before. Classy! The floor is now SMOOOOOOTH, no dip. I am so satisfied! I contracted Moon's Flooring winter 2023 to install, polish, and wax VCT in a few rooms in my house. I was given a quote and told "it will take 2 days". It ended up taking several months and ~6 more visits and was still not to the quality I expect of they promised. There were quality issues from the beginning, including dozens of nail pops already appearing at the end of the second day; when I pointed these out, the technician said "that happens, take care of it yourself". I called Debi and she agreed to make it right, but subsequent visits required me to find all of the nail pops, hair/dirt/leaves waxed into the floor, missing trim, dips in tiles, etc. and literally point out with tape where they were. No other fixes were made except those I marked despite their assurances from Jeff that they'd "go over every inch and make it right". In the end, it only after I pushed back to insist on a reasonable level of quality did make it better but not right; was even told by the owner that I "should hire a specialist floor waxing crew, because that is not is in our expertise" - despite charging me for waxing. Find a more professional and transparent team for your flooring needs. 2 stars is being nice. read more

We had our first experience with Moon Flooring recently. We hired them to pull up carpet on our second floor and install new treads on the stairs. Working with Debi and Jeff was pleasant and easy. Not so much with the owner Gail. Work was supposed to be completed in one weekend and so we made plans to go out of town accordingly. When we arrived home the work was not close to being done. Our place looked like it was treated as a construction site and not a home. The second day of the job they had an "emergency" and left after three hours. Our house was a mess as they did not clean up after themselves. Which of course meant they needed another weekend to finish what should have been completed in one. That being said they did end up making it right. Jeff came back out to see the mess and did agree to play for us stating another weekend stay in an Airbnb. The owner did send out a "skilled cleaner" (her words) to clean up their mess. In the end, the floor and stairs look great. Not sure we would use them again should the need arise due to our experience the first weekend. read more

Moons did an absolutely amazing job on my new home. They installed and refinished recycled maple and I am blown away by the results! They walked me through the entire process and had great communication throughout. They got creative with my master bedroom by framing oak flooring with maple, it looks like a piece of art! Top notch customer service as well. They showed up right on time and maintained great communication throughout the job. You know this company is professional and cares about their customers when I tell you that a. I don't often write reviews and b. I haven't gotten work done from them... yet. Hear me out... We had some water damage on our hardwood floors and they came out promptly to give us a free quote when other companies said they would charge us $75 to quote for water damage. Jeff explained everything they would do, and Debi in the office was very prompt in sending me the quote, following up, and responding to all of my questions. Jeff even came back out a second time to look again and answer my questions when I asked about something not related to the water damage. Jeff gave his professional recommendation as a hardwood flooring expert which ultimately will end up as less business for Moon's, which is a very honorable thing to do. Our carpeting was in desperate need of replacement. Moon's gave us a fair quote and we got a good feeling from the company right away. We ended up doing hardwoods in our guest room and vinyl planking in the entire upstairs. Moon's started on time and finished quickly. They also repaired some places where the wood was damaged, and were willing to find salvaged replacement boards to match the existing wood. Moon's flooring replaced sheet vinyl flooring in my bathroom and did a great job. They drove to Chapel Hill for free to measure the floor. They let me bring home sample books to see which vinyl looked best in my house. They took up all the old vinyl and laid new sheet vinyl and installed new quarter round. The installation looks completely professional and perfect (unlike the previous installation). I highly recommend Moon's flooring and plan to use them again in the future. read more
