Nice little bar/grill off the beaten path in Arkdale Wisconsin. The food is a bit greasy but it's bar food so go figure. Lots of the food is fried but my kids all love the food and eat it up quickly. The service was a little slower than I'd prefer but the staff is kind and attentive when available. It's overlooking the lake and after eating you can stroll out the back for a walk, hang out on the dock/patio area for more drinks, or fish in the rear area. The existing Mill part is a neat and nice touch. Locals with local chatter are a nice mainstay.

Sign out front. They pulled me in with the Old Style sign.

Spot in the woods we found out in early summer of 2025 was under new ownership. We have always…read moreenjoyed this establishment! Great pizza, fish fry & there fresh cut fries! Yummy!! So we headed on in like always-well, the new owner is basically a bar fly! We were the Only Customers and she couldn't even take our order! To busy talking to her teen children who were working/cooking. Finally got our pizza. Had to ask for napkins and paper plates. She told us "oh there usually on the tables " Pizza was pretty good. Then we had to flag the bar fly down Again just to pay!! Skip ahead to March 2026 thought we'd give them another chance. Fish Fry this time. Hmm, fish was definitely Hot but not as tasty as the previous owners served. Came in an old warped plastic basket w/mini portion of coleslaw (not the best), fries or baked potato( was 4pm-told us no baked til after 5) menu states after 3pm. Then server comes back and says, " oh I didn't know we had baked potatoes now, thought not til 5) Maybe server should know what the heck they are serving! Also, special was shrimp (which server said they were out of) glad I didn't want any. Also, heard the cook saying, "we only have 1 bag of fish left"!! WOW on a Friday night in Wisconsin during LENT!! Of course the Bar fly female owner was there playing slot video games and cackling! She informed the server that the woman's bathroom needed TP! That there was barely enough for her to use. Which tells me she used the last of it and couldn't be bothered to replace it!!! Lazy Boozy Bitch!! My adult children and inlaws tried dinner mud summer 2025- half the menu wasn't available!! They claimed the supply truck hadn't arrived yet. Needless to say they won't waste there time going again. And I would have to say the same. I have recommended this place to many people. Now I have regrets. I will now let them know NOT to waste their time & money.

We rented a Pontoon Boat from Michael's Landing while we were in the area, mainly because we heard…read moreabout all the boats that go out to the island and drop anchor, and we wanted to do the same. When we got out to the island there were lots of other boats, people swimming and having fun, so we found a spot and dropped our anchor. We were getting ready to jump in the lake but we noticed that we had started drifting, so we pulled up the anchor and made sure we were in a shallow spot according to the depth gauge on the boat. We dropped anchor again...same thing...we just kept drifting. We tried several more times in various depths, but the anchor would not hold. We called to ask about this, I mean, how do you drop anchor wrong? We explained the issue and we were told that the anchors provided on the boats are not meant to anchor in sand! What? The whole lake bottom is sand! They did say they USED to provide sand anchors, but they cost $150 and people had lost them in the past so they stopped using those. They suggested we could try to pull the boat up really close to the island and then have someone get off the boat and carry the anchor onto the island and hook it on a rock or tree. REALLY? Okay, so now we have a boat that we can.t anchor! They did offer that we could drive all the way back and pick up another boat, but it would have the same anchor. Uh, thanks a lot! So now our plans for the day needed to change. We made the best of things, cruising around the lake and stopping at The Dirty Turtle (They have docks to tie up to). On our way back towards Michael's, we hit a sand bar and got stuck, even though the depth gauge said we were in 20ft. of water! A couple of us got out of the boat to push it off the sand bar. Once we pushed the boat to deeper water, we needed to get out and climb back aboard...which is when we discovered the ladder was broken! Yep, totally would not stay attached to the boat. Broken! Thankfully we all made it back on board. Once we returned the boat to Michael's, we went inside the bar and talked to the guy working there. When we told him our story, he said, "Oh, that ladder is still broken?" Are you kidding? They charged us $200 for the boat, and we agreed to pay for our gas upon return but after the fiasco we had, we said we did not think we got what we paid for and that we would not be paying the $28 we owed for gas, which seemed overly fair considering the situation. A couple of days later we got a call from a woman saying that we signed an agreement to pay for our gas, and we explained what happened, and why we didn't think we should be charged for the gas. She was extremely rude and said she would be charging our credit card for the gas and that we could go ahead and dispute it but they would dispute it back and we could go back and forth with the credit card companies and but we would lose. (Sounds like maybe we are not the first dispute their charges!) She also said that they have never had anyone say they could not anchor their boats. Listen, we are not idiots, we have rented pontoon boats every summer for the last 15 years and we have always been able to anchor! Stay away from this place, these boats, and especially these rude people! Any GOOD business person would have said, "I'm so sorry for your troubles on the lake and in an effort to make it up to you, the $28 in gas is on us". Agree?
