I'm from the Minocqua area and it was Bingo night so the inside restaurant was full. Sitting outside wasn't too hot but it was buggy of coarse. The view was of a playground so not so special. I was hoping for more of a dinner restaurant but this was just a bar. I tried to order a Margarita and they said they could make one but basically it was a hassle, so I ordered just a regular drink, plastic cup and all. Service was a little slow because of Bingo but I was not in any hurry. I ordered the beef brisket sandwich and it was excellent. They bring a basket of sauces such as Buffalo, Horseradish and a few types of BBQ sauce. So the food was good but this area is severely lacking real restaurants. read more

Food was yummy! Got a discount (seemed like a special of the day or week) on my pulled pork sandwich with fries, making it $12. A pretty solid deal! I like the variety of grill and bar food on the menu, from wraps to straight prime rib with sides. The portion size for meat is pretty large and I always appreciate that! Great atmosphere and food. Really loved the Friday Fish Fry with the homemade sides! Outside area was fun and the music was great too.

I gave it 5 Stars, but my wife would have given in 1 Star. My order was excellent! I order the two meat plate. Extra fatty cut Brisket and Ribs. Just awesome! The bark was perfect, the meat to fat ratio creates a super tender juicy feast. I was excellent. The side of Creamy Corn was delish with a nice spicy flavor. The baked potato was cold and, well - awful. My wife ordered the Pulled Pork with fries and Potato Salad. The Pulled Pork was dry, no flavor - kind of like either sat all day and then was warmed up. The fries - cold. The Potato Salad was average, but nothing special. Bummer for my wife....... Service was average, I think we had a new server, she had no answers to our questions. If you need to get out of the rain, this bar will keep you dry and help quench your thirst. I saw many people order food and I was actually not the least impressed, so much so that we decided not to eat a meal here. We did order onion rings and they were good. But the burners and steaks were not appealing to me. The food came out on paper plates which as someone who cares about sustainability, I wasn't impressed by. This is a hole in the wall bar, so if that's what you are looking for it won't disappoint, but I'd suggest only grabbing a drink and appetizer. read more

Stopped in during a storm over Memorial Day weekend. The bar tenders were friendly and managed the large influx of patrons escaping the storm very well. I had an IPA beer and an order of onion rings that were served nice and hot right out of the fryer. Back after a year and very happy we came back in. Wonderful service, our waitress/bartender very knowledgeable, pleasant and attentive! Grill going, food came quick and just delicious. Our group had cheese curds, Sat chicken special, hamburgers, patty melt and grilled chicken sandwich. Oh and the Brandy old Fashion sweet was great! I was excited to come here since it re opened and there was new management, however I was greatly disappointed. My fiancé and I arrived at 8PM on a Monday night...sat down and got the menus from our server rather quickly. We decided to put an order "to go" so we could get back to the cabin. We ordered a cheese curd burger, a regular burger, and a house salad. Seems simple right? Well after waiting about 45 minutes for our order the waitress brought out one to go box. I opened it and saw the cheese curd burger & fries. Since I was sitting there for 45 minutes I ate a couple of the fries. Then the waitress came back and said oh wait this isn't for you, and took the to go box from us. I told her I already ate some of the fries and she said oh no big deal and continued to serve the to go order...gross much? So after 45 min of waiting, we thought ok we gotta be getting close...we were wrong! It was another half hour (so an hour and 15 minutes total of waiting for our food). Not to mention our burger was missing the top bun and this salad that took an hour and 15 minutes to make looked like absolute crap. Burgers tasted awful, couldn't even finish it. I know they are fairly new but really 1 hour and 15 minutes for 2 burgers and a salad to go? Not to mention our waitress did not check on us once while we were sitting there or even give us a heads up that they were slow! Gotta figure this out and train the staff to be a little bit more upfront when there are issues. read more

On the third visit, eight of us were seated, the cook went out the back, the waitress didn't show up and we might still be sitting there if one of the locals hadn't filled us in. Great service. Great atmosphere. Great food! Definitely a worthwhile stop if you're in the area. The new owners have really outdone themselves with the rear patio area. They've added a nice playground for kids, and there's usually a nice sized fire burning in the fire circle. Volleyball nets, a giant Jenga game, and more! Food is always very impressive. If you come on the weekend you might be able to try their pig roast. AWESOME experience. If you sit outside you can smell your food cooking in conjunction with the wood smoke and it makes for a great atmosphere. We will be coming back as often as we can! read more

As part of community support our principal asked us all to go out and try a local place. We chose Buckhorn because it was freshly reopened and wanted to see what it was like. It first is very clean and the staff was really friendly. The food was good we got burgers, the curd burger and the BBQ burger to be exact. Both were great. Everything was made fresh. I had onion rings which we good, but battered not breaded(prefer breaded). I usually am not a fan of eating in a place that is primarily a tavern with food, but new to the area and most places are like this one. It is definitely worth a visit. read more

I was excited to see this place reopen, and had high hopes it would work. I was there for the opening weekend, and the service and food was beyond bad. I brushed it off figuring it's new, they might not have had restaurant experience prior to this endeavor. I finally returned for a second chance and was again disappointed. I figured the lot is usually pretty full, maybe they have figured it out. Unfortunately, it's not baseball, I won't give them a third strike. I will say the service and food was a tad better, however, I will not return. For starters, their cocktails could use the main attraction not just the mixer. Hint... if your drinks are heavy, the food will always be good. Yes, that was a joke, but it would help. I had the Saturday chicken special, it was eatable but I could get the whole chicken for half the price off of the Walmart rotisserie. And by the time I got home, the beans would be just as cold.
